This is the best cover of a John Prine song that I've heard. One of my favorite John Prine song too. The vocals and the music are top-notch. For the last two or three weeks I've started my morning listening to this version. I'm sure John Prine would've said, "Oh boy."

This song transports me to another world. Thanks for sharing your gift with us. I found an old John Prine cassette tape back in 1980. Changed my world. He was a master. And so are you. My band plays this song for nursing home residents. The lyrics really don't match the bouncy happy melody, but maybe that is part of John Prine's genius. The world needs more music!

I have been playing this song for about a year and have been using various tempos looking for the right feel based on my voice. Your version of this is practically perfect in my opinion and I will try to copy your cover if I may. I decided to reverse the second and third verses because I think it tells a better story and I don't think John would have minded. Thanks very much for this performance.

I was so sad when he passed, I never got a chance to meet him and it was on my bucket list, so needless to say, try to do what ya can when ya can! 🙏

My college friend and play gigs like this together now and then when I'm on break from grad school. Your performance is inspiring for me as we approach some winter gigs. It makes me realize the gift that musicians bring to events. I greatly appreciate organizers who care for musicians and hire them to stir the wind.

@@oddshot60 so the harmonies are done live with the TC Helicon Voice live play pedal, I plug my guitar into it and it automatically detects the key! I can adjust all kinds of effects on it too, including how many harmonies I want/doubling/delay/chorus etc
Thank you very much! The harmonies are from a TC HELICON VOICE LIVE ACOUSTIC, which is actually my voice being layered, not robot voices lol it takes the key from the guitar chords I play, or you can manually set it. It's really cool!
You are so good. Singing and playing. I am a big John Prine fan. I’m 65 and really don’t care for to many younger singers now a days. I know I’m just to set in my ways. I’ve listened to country alll my life. The old rock and roll. I love a lot of what is labeled Americana music. I like most anything that sounds good to me lol. But you young lady sound super good. You are someone I look forward to seeing what you bring out next. Does hubby play and sing also? If I have one regret in life , it’s I didn’t learn to play guitar. But I can’t sing and don’t know music at all except what sounds great, like you. Happy holidays to you and the family.
