Thanks for the video. I have the original scan and cut and mine does its thing sometimes as well. I cut an image tonight and it did what yours did to the cup, then I restamped and it cut the whole image. Same inking. Go figure! Have had mine for a year and still don't know why it acts up. But I still love it and I still buy dies too...Wonderful for my stamps that don't have matching dies.
Laurel, From what I can see when you hold up the stamped images, the book has a gap at the base of the spine, and the top left lip of the tea cup has the tiniest bit of the solid line missing. Both probably part of the actual stamp rather than the stamping process. Both may have 'confused' Dobby's recognition of the image. Scanncuts not only like closed images, but also where the lines are even all way around the edge, really fine detail it ignores. BTW I have one and it's fabulous!!

Just a little tip, I could never remember which side of the mat cover should go down onto the mat! Solution, I put a piece of masking tape on the proper side that faces up, and wrote my name on the tape. I'll never put the wrong side down again! If my name is upside down - I've got to turn it over. I hope you find this of use.
Thanks for showing this !!! I have never seen one in action before, I am totally amazed !!! I have an older Circuit, and I wonder if this is the next route for me to take !!! i like it now much better, May Flaum uses it a lot on the channel and she introduced me to the idea of using it instead of coordinating dies and all of a sudden it made much more sense

Hi Laurel ~ Thanks to you (& Periscope!) Santa is bringing me the Scan 'N Cut for Christmas!!! Yay for me. I've already picked out a name for him too....Dudley. (Four of my six aunts and my mother married men named John and my Mom's brother is also named John.....so there are LOTS of nicknames. My Dad's nickname was Dudley so this is the name I'm choosing. I was a daddy's girl, for sure and since he passed away when I was 10 years old....it was a no-brainer!!!) Thanks to you, I'm not only getting the Scan 'N Cut, but I now own the MISTI and am COMPLETELY addicted to Blitsy and the sweet Meghan and Katy (my daughter's names are Megan and Katie so that was also a no-brainer!!!!!). But wait, there's more!!! My MINC is also on it's way! Mrs. Clause is getting me that....hope it fits in my stocking!
Hey Laurel....thanks for the review of the Brother SNC as I've been thinking about purchasing one for a while now. You may want to check out Kens Kreations RU-vid channel, which is a 2 part video on this machine. I've been contemplating buying one but for me it's a question of should I wait so that they can fix the kinks, ie why some images are recognized, or just take the dive and buy one now, as dies are so flippin expensive. I was able to get my scan n cut machine. However I still.have not had the time to even take it out of the box to plY with it yet. However..... I do have it ready and waiting . I also have new supplies coming in soon. I do run a mom n pop pet grooming and boarding shop that keeps us very busy 24/7. So between business family n church i don't often get much time for me or my quiet time. We do have about 6 family members that will be scheduled to be moving in with us this year and so we have been cleaning rears going painting and repairing lots of things with in our home to be prepared for this event. Andso my time has been limited. I do live in a very remote area in Utah and so I am unable to get over the mountain to acquire the supplies and equipment that I need or want. However i do have some very good friends that have a lot fore time OK their hands then I do and so I do allow them.to purchase everything that I need any time that I need. I just give them the list of items that I need. And I don't have to shop any more. Wahoo. For Christmas Lloyd and Janet did buy me something new items that I still.havent had time to try everything out yet. The best part is that I don't have to spend my time shopping when I can spend my time playing.
Hi is there a video to show how to cut out a printed decoupage sheet,I have tried scanning ,but bright parts like white wont show also it shows like tiny dots when scanned,any help would be appreciated .
How much are the blades?? I have 4 Cricut machines and the silhouette cameo but I am about to go crazy using my cameo! I have had several requests for cards, decals, etc and my cameo almost never cuts correctly! There is always a border or it cuts off the image. Kens Kreation (on RU-vid) shows a comparison of explore and cameo and I was surprised how good the explore did. I am not getting it bc cricut supplies/ cartridges are so expensive. Like you Lalurel, I sold my Cameo and never looked back once I got my Scan 'n Cut. I'm excited to watch you get into Dobbie. (sp?) I have used mine to also cut some of the shapes it comes pre-loaded with and then colored them. I want to try the Canvas software that is available but since I didn't have success with the Cameo, I'm not sure I want to go there yet. But there are some RU-vid tutes out there, so we'll see.

Can you cut different parts of a picture like a pumpkin stem green pumpkin orange. I can't find any videos on papaer piecing and cutting different papaer for different things like with the cameo you can ungroup. Can you ungroup on the machine and not use the canvas software. thanks.
Laurel, you still love your scan and cut? I have a sizzix Big Shot and I am thinking about the switch. But I am wondering if it would be better to keep the Big Shot and do the Scan and Cut, cause I have read that you can get take any image on line and cut that too! So trying to decide and asking around.
I am very dissatisfied with the Brother Scan N Cut machine and its accessories. Had I made the effort to research consumer reviews before I purchased my machine, I would NOT have purchased the machine in the first place. As, every review I read did not have positive comments to share. I can't say that I was surprised. For starters, I was not aware that it will not cut out rubber stamps that do not have a solid line around the circumference of the stamp. That is the only reason why I purchased the product. Secondly, I was coerced into purchasing the Enhanced Image Tracing Card by one of Brother's 'Help Center' Associates which ended-up NOT working for me since the machine will not cut my rubber stamps out in the manner in which I need for it to. I called the company was told that "since I did not purchase the card from them, they cannot refund or credit me." How ironic is it that they would penalize me for not purchasing the card from them when they do not sell the card in the first place. I no longer wonder 'why' Brother does not have more retail stores selling their products. Their customer service and product policies fall within the SHAM-RUN boundaries. PLEASE reconsider any purchases of this companies products, especially if you are planning to use the machine to scan and cut your rubber stamps. I learned the hard way!
Thanks for the video. I am curious do you know by chance whether the pre order on Amazon has everything with it that the one on hsn had? I know that one had the wireless thingy, and perhaps some extra goodies. Also, you mentioned it not being able to cut out in ages without a line, do you think it would cut sketch type images? I'm sure you have used and seen stamps that have more of a artistic quality to their images. Thanks for any help.
+dgmlmax Hi! It comes with everything except the activation card. You get a rhinestone kit in substitution. The good thing about Amazon is... IF you get it and you don't like it, you can return it. So it's risk free. I don't have any sketchy type images but as long as the lines are connected, it will cut! Does that make sense??? So if there are open areas, you can go in with a pencil, run it thru the machine and then erase the pencil lines. The one on amazon that is the same model as mine can be found here: www.laurelbeard.org/scanncut. I also love it is WIFI, so no plugging a computer in required! I hope that helps!
I am so technologically challenged. I bought a cameo 2 years ago and never tried it! I preordered this through Amazon through you off Periscope the other day. My question is do you even have to have a computer? In other words, to do what you did here, just cut images you already stamped, does it have to be connect to a computer for that function? Also does the mat come with it or do I need to order one? And lastly, did you find it easy to just start using without a lot of set up, reading, etc...? Thanks for answering these questions.
+Maureen Hayes To do what I did here, NO! No computer necessary! And the mat comes with the machine. Everything you need will come with the machine! It comes with a manual but I just asked a friend to show me the basics and that is where I began. So basically what I did on this video is what she showed me to do! LOL!

I have been very sick and I keep missing your Periscopes on this. If you can post any of them to RU-vid, I would be so grateful. +Cynthia Simon If I am correct from doing research, CM650W has a few more pre installed images and fonts, from the CM350, it also will take the 12x24 mat, the CM350 will only take 12x12. The CM350H is the same as the CM350R,(H) comes with the wireless activation card) (R) does not you have to purchase separately. I hope I am correct, did a lot of research on all models..
Cynthia Simon I have the 350 and LOVE this machine...have had it for a while....you’d never regret getting one...I have had the Crichton’s and the silhouette.....this is soooooo much easier.
In that one part of the video where the machine did not cut all the way... chould you be a bit specific on why it did not cut it all the way? was it becasue the image was too small or some other reason?
Im not happy with my scan and cut machine. It cuts out only what it wants and it does not cut all things properly even if dark black borders. Its so complicated too
I have to recallibrate my machine as it wasn't cutting right! I'm still troubleshooting with it. TONS of my friends have this and have had no issues. Maybe I dropped it and don't remember, lol
Agree. I am very disapointed with this machine. Can't use my Fonts from the PC nor cut my own desing and the scanner with 300dpi is a bad joke. Spend a lot of money for nothing. Have this brother now for one year but could't cut any of my designs properly. Will give away mine to a Kindergarden...
Oh no, its just such a waste of money, it costs so much, thats not right really is it. Why dont we do you tube videos of how it does not work so that people will see the good and the bad side of it before they buy it
Hi there. Since this video mine broke. It took a while, I actually turned to social media, but they eventually had someone call me and they replaced my machine free of charge. It still is sitting in the box but I'm glad they finally did right by replacing my faulty product.
I second that. Just bought this piece of junk for my birthday only to figure out that it has alot of limitation. I did alot of own design and i kept re scaning images of my design. Simple border just wont pick up nice looking lines. Keep redrawing thicker borders but results still remain unchange. Total waste of money!
