I'm looking forward to 1.14, don't know how often DT will get used though. I too like single frequency, especially in cities. Quietness is bliss. Nice vid, Jeremy.
Jeremy, is the beast mode just increasing transmit power, which usually works against you in minerals? I need to update mine and try my pounded civil war bullet patch place I test every new machine. I used to dig 12 bullets about every 90 minutes of detecting but in recent years lucky if I get 1 or two. The EMI is so bad, I can barely use the Deus 2 even in single frequency, but the Legend ran pretty stable in 10 kHz, and I popped out an eagle cuff button. Some would say what’s the big deal. Well, I’ve been hitting this place since 1970’s with every detector made and only found a flat button, a NY coat button, and this eagle cuff, in the wide open. I need to get the newer elliptical coil you have and the newer coil stock coil. Mine came with the round coil, which is heavy for me. Thanks for all your testing. Deep there is 6”, deep here, no joke, is 12-17” measured with a pinpointer. If you can’t get around 14” in our good, Sandy ground, you won’t find anything in most battlefields. So much land was cultivated after the war and there’s hut sites over 3’ deep. The deepest one we found was probably where a trench was filled in, stopped digging when up to my arm pits, couldn’t get down in the hole anymore, lol
Beast mode is most likely just a TX boost. Many older detectors had this same feature. The big coils on the Legend make the detector too heavy for a 3 hour hunt. We aint getting coins no deeper than 7" no matter what coil we use here. The minerals mask coin sized targets
I will try beast mode today comparing targets with Walter who uses the v1.11. Just from these initial field tests, I will be sticking with the DT at 0.
Jeremy you have the best videos, I knew you would be all over the 1.14 version testing it. You give the best explanations on the legend or any detector for that matter. I think i'll keep using the single frequency for now before I download the new version sounds a little complicated from what i've heard so far. Thanks for doing these videos you're awesome at detecting.
Thank you Michael. Ground balancing beast mode does seem convoluted. We should figure it out once we can get some clarification from Dilek on how to ground balance it. Her video was way glitchy during the livestream yesterday, creating a lot of confusion on how to GB the beast mode.
I tried DT feature with Lg24 on the dime. It would not hit it yesterday no matter what I did. Some days it hits the dime, some days it does not hit the dime, the same with all detectors. I am not willing to sacrifice a lot of stability for a little depth. Nokta has made ground balancing in the beast mode gold field a bit overcomplicated. If Nokta can work on the tones of the DT feature we might be looking at something here.
I compared many targets with Jim's detector and I saw no difference in depth with the DT feature. I did see the difference in how the DT distorts the tones. I did not test out the beast mode because it only is in gold field mode in pitch tones. Gold field program is very unstable in our soil.
@@PaystreakSuperfreak interesting to hear that. I might try it in my soil here in Yakima just to see if there is any difference but I don’t like the idea of it distorting the tones.
Awesome! Thanks for taking us along and letting us know what you think of this new update so far… looks like it works well!😀 I’m still running 1.05… I figure to wear out my parks and to do the same as I upgrade up to the newer versions… it’s like getting a new detector every time, and feel like it will help me “learn” more about its performance on spots “I’ve supposedly cleaned & worn out”… Though, I see you can almost never clean an area out of what it has to give… Targets pop out when they want… I’ve learned a ton from the PSSF & grateful!🥇
Every day is a new adventure at the same site. You may think you beat up a spot real bad and then one day the targets flow like a faucet out of the that beat up spot. There is just no rhyme or reason why sites come alive all the sudden.
Hey streak, I have a theory the magnetic field around the earth changes, and causes the ground to light up with targets. A local civil war spot was famous for this phenomenon. A detector dealer friend that’s been detecting since there were detectors said every time they hunted this site near the James River it would be very quiet with signals. The sun would start to set, and bam, deep bullets everywhere. Come back, quiet until sunset. Things going on we don’t understand. Another really smart guy I met said targets get what he called ground lock, or? Targets get masked by minerals one day, wet vs dry. He never figured what caused it, but proved it existed by gridding and remove every single peep of a target. Another day, finds stuff again. It’s a mixed blessing because it saves targets for later digs but discourages you on days that just won’t produce much, lol. Great to see you’re still kicking it!
That is funny you speak about this phenomenon. This is true what you say and I can verify what you say. I just made a video today talking about that same subject. Some days your detector will hit a certain target...some days it wont. There is so many factors that influence the ability to hit a target at a certain time. That is why I always say EVERY DAY IS DIFFERENT AT THE SAME SITE WITH THE SAME DETECTOR.
The best test is in the field on real targets. How does v1.14 respond to dense modern trash?? How does the v1.14 features respond to near surface targets?? How does v1.14 respond to other detectors?? How does v1.14 respond to targets on edge?? How does v1.14 respond to wet soil?? How does v1.14 respond to high EMI sites?? How does v1.14 respond to fast swing speeds?? Will the v1.14 drain the batteries faster??
