Who are these people that can't watch you draw for longer that 5 min?! lol... I'd prefer more videos and longer ones... Learning tons here! Keep em coming Todd!
Jim P his art is pretty stylistic(his facial alignment bends to express emotion), so if you really want to learn to draw, you shouldn't copy from him too much
Growing up in the 90s was a special time for me. I was a poor kid with family problems. Marvel was great, DC was great but it didn’t connect with me on a personal level. When image started and I was able to scrape up the 1.95 admission cost of a book I was finally able to really escape my reality. The books were gorgeous, fresh and the stories were more relatable to a kid like me. Todd you are a legend and a hero to me thank you.
I’m surprised to hear that Todd doesn’t like venom with a big tongue, I always thought it added in a more animalistic and primal intimidating sort of look, the more you know.
Amazing Todd. I'm like a little kid when I watch you draw. You make it look so effortless. I guess that's why you're the man. Love...love your Venom drawings. Thanks again for this short vid. I enjoy every minute of them. Cheers,
Todd McFarlane’s characters are drawn so well, that when any other artist draws them, they look ‘inferior.’ Case in point, DC Comics’ rendition of ‘Batman & Spawn’. You see, McFarlane can draw Batman as well or better than any other great comic book artist, but the same cannot be said of other artists who draw Spawn.
People have said it a few times, but seeing your passion come out while you draw, the sound fx, the fun, reenergizes me for my work today. Gotta draw a lotta pages! Thanks!
I love how Todd gives proper credit to himself AND David Micheline for creating venom. Unlike Liefeld who takes full credit for Deadpool. Even though he had nothing to do with what the character became.
@@Erik_Lehnsherr-MAGNETO Deathstroke was based on Deadpool not the other way around. Matter of fact, Deadpools personality was identical to Deathstrokes in the early years. When Liefeld created Deadpool, he was not a merc with a mouth. he was a serious assassin in oppose to the new deadpool where he is mostly comic relief. Liefield is only credited with the appearance, that is about it. Deadpool didnt actually become a parody of marvel that could break the 4th wall until 6 or 7 years after his creation. When Liefeld created Deadpool, he was not a merc with a mouth. he was a serious assassin and he voluntarily joined the weapon x program .
It really is amazing how quickly you can knock something like that out... Years of drawing with all those comic book deadlines, I suppose, but it is still so very impressive! More videos, please... And, more sound effects!!
Yes, I never cease to be amazed at the talent guys like Todd have but like you said, years of drawing with all those comic book deadlines and I would also add, that like Jim Lee said, it's years of practice, too. This is what these guys do for a living. It's their life and their career so if they weren't as good at it as they are something would be wrong.
WOOOOOOWWWW !!!! THE WAY YOU LAID THAT OUT FROM THE TOP OF THE EYES AND LAID IN THE UPPER LIP TO FORM THAT DOWN SHOT WAS AAAAWWEESSSOOOMEE!! love watching you draw and love the narration !
The guy... from spawn... says heck... instead of hell.... Now what?... "oh, but it's just because it's the channel and stuff", well, the channel is about a toy company that sells toys absolutely not suitable for children (small parts and themes), I think they could get away with hell. Also: "pyosh pyosh".
I am so stoked for my submission to Image Comics. I hope one day Todd draws Jet! Jaguar of the Jungle. If he likes big teeth and overbites on characters that sometimes bite the heads off of their foes, I know he'll enjoy drawing Jet. I just have to figure out if a sequential storyboard for writing submissions requires inked drawings of the scenes. It says fully inked, but is that for the typing in the boxes? Or the drawings themselves?
Jeeeez, I remember when I *enjoyed* drawing that much. Now I couldn't even sit down and draw and eye. Full time college plus full time job plus... Y'know, everything life throws at me, it just takes it out of me. I can't draw anymore, I can't even sit and read anymore. Hopefully I graduate from university and that stuff comes back to me.
Now that i come to think of it, Venom's "skeleton" really was the initial idea of violator in demon form, with the big and sharp overbite, todd really is an awesome artist
For me, Venom is the one comic book character that just looks badass in black and white, which means you can pretty much forget about the coloring process, which is a big plus in my book as a digital drawing beginner.
I won’t take my Venom any other way Toddster! It’s a dream come true to be able to watch you draw, I use to study your comics for hours just trying to pick up your style and detail.
