The home where four University of Idaho students were killed in November 2022 is set to be demolished on Thursday morning.
Crews will begin to demolish the home at 7 a.m. Pacific Time, according to KXLY in Spokane, Washington.
The University of Idaho said earlier this month that the house would be demolished. Prosecutors and the defense team had access to the house to take any photos or measurements of the house for the trial.

@josephk4932 it didn't work that way... First of all, jury dont usually tour the crimes centre because that is one giant piece of hearsay, even with tour are organised, there are severe limit on what the jury can do, that's because unless Kohberger were there too and you put the jury in the same room with BF And DM at their original location, that represent nothing. Second, if this is such an exculpatory evidence when the juror can't hear Kohberger walking in, then the Defence have WAY MORE to lose than the prosecution, because they don't really need the house itself and the position to convict him, but he would have needed it to proof he is innocents, then why the defence agree to the tear down? Because it won't happen unless both side agree

I'm disgusted by the University of Idaho. This act shows they care more about their reputation than their students. Keeping it up for one more semester in order to assist in justice for their 4 students was not worth it to them. That is despicable! Shame on them. They're not babies, they're adults. If you did you job as a parent right and you started raising adults once they became ambulatory at 18 months, then they should have no problem being self sufficient, resilient, and able to thrive despite challenges in life which is a minimum threshold. But somehow I think you coddled them b/c you couldn't turn off your Oedipal devouring mother tendencies. In which case, they're "adult infants" who will be incapable to making it in the world....

As a Death Penalty Juror all this is a gross mistake. College = money. They couldn't give a rat's for justice. Shame on this University. Know if your son or daughter has a problem there they are just out to cover their own buns. The fact you have a fully intact crime scene in a Death Penalty case and tear it down before the end of trial is a huge advantage for defence. What are they hiding? Totally incompetence? Sorry to the 2 families that fought this. As a juror there is nothing like visiting a preserved crime scene to understand exactly by standing in the victims foot steps to the use the facts what happened. VR you have to be kidding. This is so wrong it can never be right.
@lazydaisy2292
@lazydaisy2292 9 месяцев назад
I've never heard someone say, "as a former juror." 😂 Probably because it's not coming from a place of authority. Juries are notoriously unreliable. They get it wrong constantly. They aren't professionals in the field of criminal justice and they work off instruction. You have no idea if potential evidence would be inculpatory (suggesting guilt) or exculpatory (pointing toward innocence) so you can't point to a win for the defense because the potential evidence hasn't been found, which is the very argument as to why the house shouldn't be destroyed. This comment got on my nerves because just stating that this is a win for defense shows your assumptions and proves the very issues we have with our jury system. They are terrible and proven bias. They are a real problem in this country and I wouldn't be bragging about being a part of it. Although, we don't really get a choice, do we. You could have the McDonald's worker down the road deciding your fate.
@ashleysmith2509

@lazydaisy2292 I served when there were laws and real consequences. You are right by instruction. You have someone's life in your hands that is the difference now a days weak people. Like California. The Death Penalty is law but a tiny weak coward of a man held up the execution I pain stakingly spent days contemplating the evidence and facts causing heart break for the family. That is what has happened to our supposed law and order problems and it is going to be much much worst . There is now no accountability. Put me in another trial. I will weigh the evidence observe the facts and hand down 100 more Death Penalties if it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt. One guy without immense military training doing this to 4 health young people in a wooden house without anyone hearing a scream in a small town is a miracle. Takes a 100 percent vote for a Capital Case. No one can be in any doubt. You bring all evidence including the crime scene if you are blessed enough to have it. This trial without seeing the crime scene will be hard to explain but as you said may now a days have someone who doesn't care about their country or their service as a juror. An honest juror will have to contemplate the above. Very hard sell with no crime scene. I have removed former as I served my country proudly and made the ultimate decision as required of me.
@christianjward
@christianjward 8 месяцев назад
@@ashleysmith2509 sounds like you are proud to have imposed the death penalty, and almost take some kind of sick pleasure in it? "Put me in a trial" so you can impose 100 more death penalties?! The fact that the majority of jurors involved in death penalty cases end up traumatized from the experience and never want to be in that position again speaks volumes about your desire to have a hand in sending another 100 people to death. It's worrying that a former juror (yes, 'former' because you are no longer a juror) appears such an advocate for the death penalty, and at the same time has clearly made pre-judgments on the innocence/guilt of the defendant in this case.

The issue that no one is discussing is that the scene was so contaminated with what is considered to be biohazard (body fluids) that they had to have a crime scene clean up crew come in and their process included removing all contaminated absorbent materials, from carpet, to belongings, to sub floor, dry wall, etc. So the house was already pretty well gutted, which is quite different than it was the night of the crime. Do we expect they rebuild the home as close to original for jury walm through, then destroy it again?

This wasn’t about “healing “ the community, this was about protecting the university- whether Bryan is found guilty or not, the crime scene is gone now so they can never go back. The university owns this “community “ and they don’t want people thinking about the murders, they want everyone to move on, gotta keep those enrollment numbers up, and holding the correct suspects responsible is not advantageous to their cause. That billion dollar deal with Arizona (?) was probably in the works before the murders. The original owner was no doubt given “an offer he couldn’t refuse “ to GIVE the $500,000 house to the university. This house was torn down to hide and protect and it’s blatantly obvious.

They’re sooo sadly demented if they really think that just because they demolish that house that there will no longer be any memories!! How idiotic!! Say what you want … there’s a reason why it was pushed to be done so fast and the fact that it happened even 30 minutes sooner than scheduled time … if that wasn’t the epitome of injustice !! Set aside all the evidence that was gone through, collected, photographed … there are people out there that deserve to make their decisions based off of what they see, hear, feel (maybe not even tangible but sense). How just is that to take that away from someone? If I was on a jury and I was given a timeline, I would DEF want to be at that location to get a sense of what was going on. I’m sure if you tell people that should there be someone with a different perspective that brought something to our attention, that no one has even thought about, or looked into … families of the victims or even close friends or students on campus would be much more accepting of that house being there until after the trial. And let’s face it, whether that house was combed through thoroughly or perhaps something had been missed …. It’s only right for both sides that it be kept as evidence until after the trial!! SMH to all this!!

Yes I agree destroying the house before trial is ridiculous, but if they have hundreds of pieces of evidence, 3d models, and walk through virtual systems in place going through the crime scene, which they do then maybe the house is just a grim reminder of the loved ones who died there.

The witness testifed to hearing the suspect talk. She also said she came face to face with the suspect. So, if a juror wants to go to the house and see if they can hear someone talking thru the wall. And why they didn’t hear the violent attack. Oops, can’t do that. But here’s some pictures for you to look at. Not only does the defense gain the ability to throw doubt on this testimony, they also get grounds for an appeal. It’s a shame that this has been botched as bad as it’s been.

OMgosh! This should not have happened. It's like getting rid of evidence. There have been many times the jury has went to the scene of a crime. Many things about the inside & outside of the house the jury may request to see that may be important to a case. Especially about this case. I've often seen confusion people were having on the levels of this house & confusion of the location of the victim's room from another victim's room, etc... I've seen comments in chats & reports about the inside of this place & entrances that are confusing when discussed, but don't understand until you actually see it.

What an unbelievable OUTRAGE that the house, arguably the strongest “piece” of evidence in this case, has been torn down before the trial. The jury should have been able to walk through the house, and no virtual representation will ever be an acceptable substitute. There is nothing cathartic about this and it certainly doesn’t bring “closure” when this happens before the trial is complete. Monumental failure…

They are demolishing this home because the DA does not have any evidence in convicting this guy. Now they can go on the allegations of what they think happened. If the jury had a opportunity to walk this house and see the layout and see where the victims were according to the roommates, they would know something is wrong. And then we need to look at the other roommates that slept through this horrible crime.

@Completetwilightfan Honestly, how can you make that assumption based on my comment when I was only speaking morally on the situation. I may not be an expert in criminal justice, however, I do know a thing or two about being a decent human being. Let me elaborate on why I believe they made a mistake.. Considering the information we have and the fact they have tried to keep such a tight lip on all the facts (I also understand that it is for the integrity of the case), I would like to believe that the investigators did a thorough job when collecting evidence. But what if they didn't? Yes, the FBI went in and obtained a digital layout of the home, but that is not the same as allowing the jury to physically walk through it; especially since the home had a very unusual layout. Furthermore, wouldn't it make more sense to be safe than sorry? What if there was something accidentally missed when obtaining evidence? It's more common than not for investigations to be mishandled and the perpetrator walk free, and the victims and their families never receive justice. If they have a slam dunk case for a conviction, whether it's Brian Kohberger or not, then that is great and the debate on the house being torn down or not will be irrelevant.. But what if they don't? What if that house is the last thing standing between whether he walks free or is held accountable for his actions? I'm just saying my fear is it was the wrong choice. There is nothing comparable to the jury being able to walk through that house. I want to see these young, beautiful souls and their families receive the justice they deserve because this entire situation is a tragedy!

@@britlovee443 morality doesn’t matter in criminal justice. They do NOT do jury walk throughs often like you see in movies, which tells me you know nothing about criminal justice, again.
