I'm a Londoner, over 60 years of age. I love watching video's of London from a tourist's viewpoint. They often give me a different, or new, perspective on my home town. Your observations and insight, accompanied with humour, plus including your young children's opinions; is wonderful.
welcome to the UK you lovely bunch, i hope you have an amazing time, don't let the rain spoil anything us Brits never let the rain ruin our fun. Enjoy ❤
@@palmsandpalaces , as you are walking in London do you know that you are walking past history on the pavement ( sidewalk ) a lot ? There are Black Ballards on the edge of the pavement if you look carefully they are upsidedown cannons that was captured by the Royal Navy in battles , the council thought that they looked good so when work was done on the pavement they had bollards made that looked very similar .
What a delightful Family, welcome to London. We love American visitors, our long lost cousins. Listen ! Many a Londoner myself included will secretly admit that they also love to see the city from the top deck of a bus. Also a great alternative of the tube and on the red buses all you need is your Oyster card. Have a fantastic trip !
I live in London & quite often watch tourists vlogs - loved yours , your enthusiasm was lovely & glad you enjoyed come back soon . My experience- USA tourists very friendly & fun to meet always welcome ❤
Thanks for a really great video - beautifully shot and edited. So nice to see such a lovely family with two absolutely delightful and charming children. Welcome to the greatest city on earth! I know I'm biased as a Brit, but London still knocks my socks off every time I visit. I lived in London for 8 years and always loved meeting American tourists and other visitors from all around the world. 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸
The eggs are coloured like that due to the food the hens are given. We get local eggs here in Cornwall (St Ewe, they’re amazing) and the ‘super feed’ gives those darker yolks. Zero fake colours. Glad you’re having a fab time 😊
@@Avfc-m4w Yes! We googled it (🤣🤣), and saw that. You just don’t see that here in the States. One of the things that we love about the UK - the better ingredients and fresh food!
If they were British, they would have REMAINED in the same seats just so they could happily indulge in doing a raised eyebrow, a side eye look and making a glorious “tutting” noise at their despair of “noisy Americans” 😂😂. No British person would deprive themselves of a having a reason to have a good old mumble n grumble by moving away from the source of their annoyance! What’s the point of that then eh?! 😂😂
Looks lovely. Borough Food Market is well worth a visit, it's been going for about 1000 years. If you do go, get there early, say about 10 to 10.30am as it gets REALLY busy in the afternoon. There is even a Hotel Chocolat store there, and if you've not been in one of those yet you're in for a treat 😁
Will have to check out Hotel Chocolat next time! Sounds spectacular! The next vlog will cover Borough, but we barely scratched the surface. Thanks for sharing!
Regarding the underground, you need to come up with a plan. Decide that if the same thing happens again, the first ones on the train get off at the next stop and wait on the platform at the same spot. Then when the other train comes the rest of you will be on it in that carriage and you can board.
Yes some nice food choices, the eggs looked good, always interesting to hear language differences, we would say those yolks are golden rather than orange, also Americans have orange cats we have ginger cats, and our traffic lights have an amber light not orange, but we do have blood orange soft drinks (Sanpellegrino)
This is a good reminder to "spice" up our vocabulary. Haha! However, I must say that even though we're back in the States, the kids have adopted some British slang and pronunciations. We often pass a sign that says "Cunningham" (we Americans pronounce it Cunning-HAM), but they now say "Cunning-um" every time we drive by!
I love this video - your kids are adorable, so much enthusiasm! It brings back memories of seeing the sights with our son - who is 20 now!😢 He’ll still do the odd day out with us, we have a Christmas tradition of going to the theatre and for dinner. One thing the children might enjoy next time is “Dino snores” at the Natural History Museum - you have a “night at the museum”, which is a treasure hunt in the dark and then get to sleep on the floor (on a rolled out mat!) underneath the whale or T. rex. Well, I say sleep, I probably got about an hour when we did it but the kids love it! They also do an adults version too 😂
@@marsh3368 We were just talking about the NHM last night at dinner. The kids brought up one of the exhibits and Scott mentioned he was bummed he didn’t get to go this trip, so we promised him we’d all check it out next time. Maybe we will look into those activities you mentioned - they should sound right up their alley!! Cannot WAIT to return! And thanks for the reminder about how fast time flies. I hope you get an extra squeeze from your 20-year-old this week!! And thanks for being here. Our vlog on Windsor and Bath is coming up next! ❤️
A Big British Welcome Hug 🤗❤ A fantastic video & I loved to see You & Your family smile & Enjoy all the Uk has to offer. Sorry about the weather, But apart from that I wish You all a fantastic stay & I look forward to watching the rest of Your journey. Big Love ❤
The tubes in London move fast with tubes every 1-2 minutes in central London so no waiting around I'm afraid. Best to get positioned near a door after the stop before. The bus tours are an ok way to see some sights but London buses are much cheaper and may be a better solution for some. Dishroom is usually pretty good regardless of which restaurant location you eat at. Did you try the favourite dish of the UK, chicken tikka masala?
Great tips. Thanks! And one of us got the tikka masala and it was delicious. I just regret not getting more Indian while there! Do you have a favorite Indian restaurant in the city?
Do you listen to the news, when British newsreaders refer to the tower it is always called Big Ben ninety nine percent of the British population only know it as Big Ben so why do you bring up that the bell is Big Ben no one cares.
What colour are YOKES in USA? If it’s Bright Orange it’s the Pièce de résistance,If their yellow it’s battery, if its grey it’s the worst life a chicken had!😢
Cassis is French for blackcurrant. Its not especially common to find it on menus in the USA as cultivating it was banned for a long while in an effort to protect your timber industry.
It’s so refreshing to see such a lovely American family. The Americans we see on the news seem to hate everything and everyone with their MAGA hats etc. This video restores my faith in the US and proves they also have caring and intelligent people - so glad they enjoyed London
lol it was supposed to ! It was tongue in cheek as we say - British humour. As a Londoner it’s weird seeing places I haven’t been since my children were small like yours. With free museums London is a great place for little ones. Enjoy your travels 😊
Hello @Palms & Palaces nice vlogs but while you are in England there are loads of fun places for you to visit. You must visit the Barbicsn Conservatory and do a vlog on it. You must also do a flog on the Tower Bridge Experience and Flamingoland Theme Park And Zoo.
We will be covering the Tower Bridge in the next vlog. And I will look up the others that you shared. Thank you so much for passing these along, and for watching! :)
It's just too busy now, thirty years ago it wasn't like this and I find it a shame how the native population has been driven out. It used to be an English city and now it's just a generic globalist one :/ Sadly that is happening all over the UK, everything is being turned from working towns to theme parks and like Venice it's just a place for the rich to have second homes and B&Bs. Makes me worried for the future of the world because eventually everything will be the same and different cultures will be gone. All this has happened only since airliners in the 60s and for the working classes since the 80s. Only the last twenty years have we seen mass tourism from places like China..... What will happen with the working classes in China and Indian gain capital? Gonna be another couple billion making everything even more crowded.
Thank you for sharing. We found the city to certainly be busy and definitely a melting pot of cultures. The history of the city and the personality of the different neighborhoods was still charming to us.
