Honolulu Power plant is right across the street, closed it to go more into renewables but you can’t beat the sustainably of fossil fuels and traditional means. We closed up my work place there and people loss hours and the total loss productivity to the economy to many there is probably in the millions since it’s the heart of business in Hawaii.
Like I’ve been telling everyone who’ll listen. Underground lines aren’t all that. I’ve lived with them in my neighborhood for over 45 years. Floods from rain will knock out your power and your phone until crews dig up your streets and sidewalks to “take a look at it.” Don’t just be prepped for storms. Now we have to keep flashlights, battery and butane or propane cooking energy, water, rice, toilet paper and canned foods year ‘round.
One line goes down and causes a problem for the other lines to take the load. Maybe it's a good idea to be proactive instead of reactive. Come on HECO you're smarter than that.
He is lies. Our Colonialist politicians have never bothered to use taxes to keep our electrical stations, grids & sources updated ... so now we are stuck with an antiquated system that can go at anytime on any island . Time to get big generators!
