Without over embellishing anything, this is the greatest song in the history of music, the fact that hardly anyone knows about this song is criminal!!!!
The cover art says "Lift Me Up" and yet the song is titled "Hold Me Up." What's that about? Kevin Smith said he wanted to use this song for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back upon hearing it on radio play back in the day but Live was iffy and weird about that since they thought they could use it as a single. So Kevin tried again and again and got it for Zack and Miri which, as everyone knows, worked out better than any other possibility. The sex scene it's used is literally perfect.
There is another timeline in which Zack and Miri was a critical and financial success. This Kevin Smith's filmmaking career took an unexpected turn as he became more "legit." His style would in part take on the emotional resonance created by the scene featuring this song in his landmark film Zack and Miri Make a Porno. But alas we have Tusk and Yoga Hosers.
You couldn't find a studio version because there ISN'T one, they did this specifically for the movie and it wasn't on the soundtrack, you kick ASS for uploading this! :D
Actually it was released on a label promo cassette for in house only that is how Kevin had in the first place. He wanted to use it before in a similar scene in Chasing Amy. The Band didn't want it to do it because they wanted to release it but never did so Kevin let the tape sit on his shelf for 10 more years he brought it up again bam they said yes rest is history. but it still a very personal song to the band and still to this day has not ben commercially released to the public in full form or format
Kevin Smith had it for mallrats but then Live held on to it for a future single which never came to fruition. Kevin Smith asked for it again and got denied and then finally got it for Zack and Miri. It was never released and I assume the just remastered it during post production strictly for the movie and that was it.
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! The first time i managed to find somewhere to download this after watching Zack and Miri, i cried. Thank you for making this video!!!
+OctoberBlues89 Live never actually released this song, it was only used for the movie. A LQ version has been floating around for forever. I wish they'd release it!
