It’s a rare feat but somehow I hadn’t heard this song in at least 20 years and heard it today randomly on the radio and it hit me like a massive nostalgia bus . Best feeling . Such a powerful band.
I so identify with your vibe on this how songs are crazy time capsules and can unlock doors in the mind that have been closed for decades sometimes for certain
Had the throwing copper album stuck in the cd player of my car in high school for a year straight..... Never got tired of it, even when I bought a new stereo for my car, it went right into the new one.
Out of the tens and tens of thousands of songs I've heard in my life, this is one of the few that still gives me goosebumps. 2nd half of the whole song is utterly sublime.
What a band ! Miss them so much. They need to make a new record soon. The writing and that mix of great riffs plus kind of a ballad is just great. We tried to do a mix of rock and ballad with one of our latest song, would love your views on it. Return from people liking the same music is always great. stay safe in the meantime ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RCZScxA1Hk4.html
@@miameramusic Hi. Thanks for your Comment- This Song Definitely hits hard to people who can still appreciate it- Happy You still do all these years later. ✌
One of their harder songs. Always loved they could sing ANYTHING. From soft rock ballads to hard core rock like this. I'm 41 and still can't help but to headbang to this still just like I did when it first came out
Listen closely to the bass in the verses.....so ominous and chilling....sounds like a living creature, its breath rising and falling. Amazing. Track gives me goosebumps. Earphones, loud!
@@oftcrash He was OK, I too would have preferred to see the original lineup. My 3 fav songs of the night were Freaks, Stage & Shit Town. Also, a drunk girl fight broke out near me when Run to the Water was playing! What a show!!!
This is one of the most powerful and incredible songs I know. Great energy and feeling, this string section harmony, ringy snare, this guitar riff, all agressive yet emotional, exceptionally well written and performed.
Had never heard of them until a few weeks ago when “spottie” flagged them as a “potential”. I love it to bits, and those times during the song where the music slows right down is somehow haunting. They’ve done real good with this one 👍
It was an evening I shared with the sun To find out where we belong From the earliest days We were dancing in the shadows More wine 'Cause I got to have it More skin 'Cause I got to eat it Inside the outside By the river Used to be so calm Used to be so sane I rushed the lady's room Took the water from the toilet Washed her feet and blessed her name More peace Is such a dirty habit Slow down We're too afraid Let me ride Burn my eyes Let me ride It was an evening I shared with the sun To find out where we belong From the earliest days We were dancing in the shadows Slow down We're too afraid Let me ride Burn my eyes Let me ride
I discovered this song from a friend teaching me how to street perform/busk back in 2014, by introducing me to this song! Man did this kickstart my love to learn more songs on guitar (& bass). It's gonna be 2023 soon & this STILL slaps!
um, 3:50-end of song....so intense i get freaking goosebumps...every band member just crushing their instruments and losing themselves in the crescendo. where the hell is that kind of intensity today??
My parents had this cd. in 03 i remember listening to this particular song over and over and over always out loud and my brother still jokes about it. your comment reminds me of that. it's a great song. I still love it.
This is the one song that convinced to buy some good speakers. It was about twenty years ago. Live deserves the best. My Mom loves Live. They are easily underrated, but loved by all.
Jonas Butler yeah, but only up to 1997, pretty much just dogshit after that. Three excellent LP's then mostly forgettable sludge. The downward spiral....what a shame
Live has always been a thinking persons type of band. The way the music and lyrics are laid out are very artistic and intelligently arranged. One of my favorite bands from the 90's
I didnt like Throwing Copper when I was younger, but when this song came out I loved it and bought Secret Samadhi. Great album. Then later I got Throwing Copper and loved it. If it wasn't for this album, I would've never experienced the awesomeness that is Live.
***** My sentiments exactly. Bands like Radiohead will always pursue great music videos, but other trends make me wonder if there will still be room for fully fleshed out music videos in the future
2024: In 1997 I went to the mall and bought this. It was my first CD. I was so happy and excited when I played it on my CD player. I've been listening to this for 27 years.
Excellent heavy hitter in this one. Just sharing a message that was shared with me. Read and sincerely believe 1 Corinthians 15 1-4; GOspel of Grace, death burial and resurrection of Jesus for your sins, to be truly saved. Taught by our Apostle, in this age of Grace. Paul. Faith plus nothing. NOt the 12. Matthewy 10; 5-6 shows that. AMen!!Thank you for the info. Keep up the good work. Just sharing a message that was shared with me. These guys were easily one of the best bands of the 90's...really underrated if anything. Every album was a masterpiece...every song amazing. 'Throwing Copper' was their best album, however, 'Secret Samadhi' was almost as good, and yet it didn't get the same respect. By then the media hype, and music press weren't as hot on the band as they had been just a few years earlier...which is a shame, as Live continued to produce great albums. I bought 'Secret Samadhi' in 1997 when it came out, and love it as much today as then. This track 'Lakini's Juice' remains one of my alltime fav Live tracks...incredibly powerful song. Incredibly powerful band.
U dont need complicated chords to make a good song...all u need is heart and rythem...this song made me oumped when I was 14 n now at 30 I feel the same way
Saw them 20 years ago in Orlando. Missed the reunion tours, it's a shame what happened between the original members. Looks like no chance of ever seeing them together again.
I remember one day we asked our music teacher to turn the local rock station on and this song came on. The poor woman literally cringed at the tune of the guitar. That basically solidified I was a child of the 90's. Still love Mrs. P though...she was awesome.
Till a hundreds seconds ago I believe that my favorites bands where Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, A perfect circle anda many others before but Sometimes I don't have the mood to listen those bands, but I always get excited when I listen Live, Is something that I feel Attached bond, the lyrics the melody always gets me every time, my favorite band is Live, didn't realize that in twenty years but I always listen again an again, they're music is just great, is exactly what I like
The best riff in 1997. I always played it loud everyday. One of my fav Live song of all time. remember hearing it a lot at Q107 and watching the video a lot at Muchmusic
Heard this song one time as a kid and never knew the name of it or the band but the riff has been stuck in my head for 15 plus years. Finally came across it and instantly knew it was that riff I heard many years ago. Been jammin to it ever since.
Ed kind of reminds me of Maynard James Keenan. They both have those kind of one of a kind voice that can honestly sing anything. And their lyrics are so cryptic sometimes. The musics different but the versatility and range are right there!
Jay Deleon except that Keenan's work has remained consistently good right the way through, whereas with Ed, Live went rapidly downhill after Secret Samadhi. The writing and music lost all of its balls and punch, favouring blandness and banality. Imagine how it could have been?
Have loved this song since it came out, and I still have no idea what the lyrics mean. Need to look into that. But the music itself: difficult to tell on this video because the sound quality isn't the best, but if you get a good CD or HD-quality copy and slap on some headphones, close your eyes and just listen, it's amazing. Each part builds on the previous one with a different instrument or something added to increase the intensity all the way till the last guitar phrasing he plays twice at the end. Love that.
Such a resounding mood this song set for us in a sparkling, bursting age of music to rival them all... This one is remembered only by few in this big world. And that's a shame. For it is undeniable and gloriously niche in it's originality. And it's edge, a shockwave, felt like a blast to the chest. While it's bridge remains sanctimoniously potent; like the purest perplexity, injected into the serenity of the goldest autumn morning. May this song never be forgotten throughout history.
Live had several good songs that went over to this side after their first few cutesy singles. My favorite thing about Live doing this was that they pulled it off without that annoying 90s LOOK AT US LOOK AT US BEING UNIQUE AND NOT DESPERATE FOR ATTEMTION AT ALL attitude.
After the 70's, the 90's are my favorite decade. It was all about being different, be it on music, cartoons, wardrobe, you name it. So many phenomenal bands rose to fame at those times.
I bought Throwing Copper on the strength of a TV ad many years ago now, I'm glad my introduction to Live was such a pleasurable experience, then Secret Samadhi came along with this little gem. I just loved this song. Ed's magnificent soaring vocal just unleashed something within me, it was pure and cathartic. Great song and a great under-rated band..
My favorite Live song. I was a weekend DJ at WCCC in Hartford, CT when this came out and I remember we had an early copy of the song. It was on a little DAT cassette and they hooked a DAT player to the soundboard so we could play it. I remember the first time hearing it was when I played it live on the air. The riff pulled me in instantly. Bad-Ass riff indeed.
