I forgot how this episode made me contain my disgust, anger, and laughter so hard all at the same time 🤣 I just had my jaw re-aligned yesterday and I had to grit my teeth today because of the cringe and had to supress my laughter bcs I'm watching this at work 🤣 they lost me at water and pheromones in the concert I was like "i truly love you all but this ain't f#$^@n it bros" anyways!! looking forward to the next episodes! thank you for this and Happy Chuseok to y'all! 🎆🌕

Cheeky is different based on context (I'm Irish and as much as i don't like to admit it our way of speaking has a ton of crossover with the British) like a student could be called cheeky if they talk back to an adult in a rude or impolite way that doesn't go too far, like calling your teacher by their first name or teasing your teacher eg if the teacher was wearing a floral dress and the class clown asked why they were wearing a shower curtain that'd be cheeky while if they called the teacher a cow that wouldn't be cheeky its rude/disrespectful etc. In this way being called cheeky is kind of an insult or a warning "Don't be cheeky" "Cheek will not be tolerated" Another way a child would be called cheeky is if they kinda skirt around rule but not in a super bad way eg. a child asks their mom for a treat, mom says they can have one, so they get one from mom then go ask dad and he says did your mom get you something and theyre like no so they can have 2 treats. Calling a child cheeky is usually more lighthearted most toddlers would get called a 'cheeky lil monkey' at some point. Its kind of said in an annoyingly endeared way like a parent might call their child a monster or a menace in an endeared way. Cheeky is also used for like things you shouldn't have but you're gonna have anyway like there was that viral saying of 'gonna have a cheeky nandos' , so in that case you know nandos (a chicken joint) is pricey and a lil unhealthy but its delicious so you're gonna have it anyway even if you regret it tomorrow. Someone on a diet over for tea might have a cheeky biscuit etc. Also 'the cheek' can mean the audacity and "giving me cheek" is almost always negative like 'Daniel's grounded cause he was giving me cheek all afternoon"

Thank you so so much for the in depth explanation, we really appreciate it! It’s so fun to see how one language can evolve so much across the world. And how that makes translating extra confusing 🤣

33:54 about the use of 너 to another person, Mingyu usually says that when he's being teased or tricked with the sarcastic tone or in a joking manner same way that he uses -습니다 like you guys said before, younger Koreans uses them in a sarcastic manner by people who likes to joke around with their peers... I don't learn a whole batch of new words instantly every episode you guys upload but I do learn CONTEXT which is more important to me I guess? since Korean language revolves around formal/informal speech and I don't know why Mingyu was always my example but I guess he is somehow an 인싸 of colloquial speech for younger generations hehe anyways I'm glad you're here to explain this further ^^ okay I'll press play again he he

The nuance is completely different with Korean and it doesn't fit the context so he probably knew that the ya you used was Indonesian.

@@ivonch85 after i said it, he stop laughing so it kinda bothers me a little but i guess it's just my worry after hearing anna's explanation :tehepero:
