I'm looking for a dirt cheep boost circuit. Was thinking of MC34063 but it can't handle the power that I need, about 2A, so I was thinking of boosting the output with a FET, can't get it to work. Do you have any other dirt cheep 12V to 24V circuit? Preferably using the 34063 as I got lots of them lying around here. It's gonna be driving some 24V LED-strips and I thought instead of doing advanced maximum current handling thing, I just under voltage the shebang thus skipping that stage, lets say 20V. I now use the same strip with a 19V adaptor for an old laptop and even with 19V it sure as heck is bright enough. Also built a bad brightness control using a BJT, a POT and some resistors, works totally OK. With this I don't care about the loss of energy as of the above as that is supposed to be at a summer place with only a 12V 120A battery and a 150W solar panel.
