Hi Geoff. Thanks mate. I haven't bought any more cameras yet. I still use an old GoPro an old DJI Osmo Action and a camcorder for the zoom shots. Unfortunately, these thing are not cheap. The action cameras are around the £300 mark and the Camcorder cost around £600. I am looking at a replacement for the GoPro, but without getting technical, there aren't really any action cameras out there which completely fulfill my needs. I am always grateful for the donations of my viewers, but in reality, even adding what I make from RU-vid, it still doesn't cover what it costs to keep buying stuff. I might do a video on my setup at some point, so others can see how it works.😁😁👍👍

Good to see you back Den. Winter fishing for carp is hard because here in the UK in my fishpond in winter the fish don't feed and are lethargic. I stick to river fishing for dace and chub etc. Never used a pole and never entered a match. Do they have a closed season in Australia?
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen Год назад
Thanks Spark. They were definitely lethargic on this one mate. I have been down the river for the past couple of weeks for the same reason. There is no closed season for Carp in Australia, but there is for native species. Even then you can fish for them. You just have to put them straight back and not take them away to eat them.

Looks like my local club lake in England on a December day. I am curious about what you do for bait and coarse style tackle down under. Is it easily available?
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen Год назад
Hi Jeff. There is virtually no UK style tackle available in the shops down here mate. There are one or two online stores run mostly by members of the angling community, but for the most part, we buy our tackle from the UK. The shipping costs are horrendous, but sometimes its the only way. As for bait, we mostly use Corn and Bread. Maggots are used by some match anglers who mostly breed their own.

Hi Den, good to see you back out fishing, hope all is well. Quick question, can you get maggots and pinkies over there in Australia? I'm sure you'd do better using them in the cold weather. or what about worms? Edit: Just heard you say you don't use maggots. I should watch the whole video before posting questions.😀
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen Год назад
No worries mate. I have used maggots on odd occasions, but bread seems to work better for me. As for worms, I don't use them at all anymore because they just attract Eels, which I hate.👍👍😁😁
@CB-xr1eg
@CB-xr1eg Год назад
@@FishingwithDen That's the best ever reason for not using worms. I hate eels too but fortunately where I fish they don't have any. 👍😀

Hi Den Keep up the good work with your RU-vid channel, I have spent hours watching and learning. I have a question hope you don’t mind, Have you any idea how to tie a hair rig on a small hook using heavy line, for example a size 12 hook and 10lb breaking strain line, the problem is the hook eye is to small to pass line through it twice, I believe it can be done by passing the line through once, every time I try it comes undone, hope that makes sense, many thanks Steve
@FishingwithDen
@FishingwithDen Год назад
Thanks Steve. You shouldn’t have too many problems doing that, but a lot depends on the line diameter and the type of hook. For example, in the wonderful world of line diameters a 10lb line by one manufacturer could be very different to that of another. For example 10lb Matrix Horizon Sinking Line is stated to be 0.22mm diameter. Guru Drag Line on the other hand at 10lb is stated to be 0.30mm diameter. That may not sound much, but its massive in terms of getting it through a hook eye. The type of hook is also important, you shouldn’t be trying to get heavy line through the eye of a light gauge wire hook. You don’t actually specifically mention the line and hooks you are using, so here’s what I use. I regularly tie Matrix 0.22mm (10lb) and Guru 0.25mm (6lb) diameter lines to Preston KKH-B size 14 hooks. These are even smaller than the ones you mentioned above. (A 0.30mm diameter line probably wouldn’t go through the eye on these hooks). When you mention passing the line through the hook eye twice, I am assuming that you mean the first time is to thread the line through and the second time is to thread it through after you have wrapped it around the shank? If you actually mean that you are trying to pass it through a another time after that, then that is wrong. If you could get it through the eye, it would probably kink the line as you pull it tight. Have a look at this video where I show you how to tie the Knotless Knot and we will hopefully have solved your problem. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AHG46l9QaAg.html The main thing to bear in mind is to pinch the line in place when you have finished all the wraps. If you let it go, it will simply unravel. You can see me doing the pinch just after the 2 minute mark. I hope that helps mate, but please feel free to ask more questions if you are still having problems.

Are they not F1’s?
@FishingwithDen

We don't have F1s in the way you do back in the UK Chris. These fish are variously described as Prussian Carp, Gibel Carp and descendants of Goldfish. Either way, they look very similar to Crucians and they act like them too.
