We dont fish like that in England. We only tend to fish at long range with a feeder. On the waggler we fish as far as we can feed with a catapult, which for carp with big pellets is usually 35-40m. Slider float fishing with groundbait balls might be slightly further but its not a commonly used method here.

The rig was set about 3ft in about 3ft 6in to 4ft of water. You are correct a couple came at the full depth if the rig. Most were about 12ins to 2ft though. If you were to fish 2ft deep your float is often too near the fish though and they wont have it

@@BenFiskFishing How long were you giving it between casts? I have no confidence once it's just hanging, just seems unthinkable that they would have it just hanging there...

The deeper the venue and the colder it is, the more likely they are to want it hanging. Check out the Dynamite channel as theres a pellet wag vid on there where i was fishing a 20ft+ lake in early april. Just about every fish that day came in a still bait at about 7ft.

I've borrowed it from a mate Gareth, it might be a Rive but you dont really want a deep grooved one. Ill get the Matrix 3DR pole support next month as they're excellent.
