Having a mental disorder and being informed and not taking your medication doesn't make it the state's problem.. This boy is in trouble regardless of those words. Before he jumped the judge he shouted "No fk you don't.". His family is claiming schizophrenia, well those people don't talk before they murder. Personally I claim they're dense because who the hell comes out and spoils their siblings/sons case. Being mentally ill doesn't stop you from getting life. The prison is full of those people. Including autism. This guy up there is totally grabbing at straws, he's getting the short one. Sarah Boone has a better chance of getting off.

The jury is not supposed to see him in cuffs, orange or anything The NY state court of appeals in state vs Sanders 2023, overturned a guilty verdict based on the fact the judge ordered the accused handcuffed after a verdict was reached, guilt or innocence was unknown, the decision made. Doesn’t matter if you’re red with purple polka dots if you have violent tendencies(which he absolutely does) you should be restrained! The thing ppl don’t seem to understand is that he is restrained by his feet, under the table where no one can see. The man is on trial and not supposed to be handcuffed or have any type of restraints that can be seen or heard by the jury. It’s crazy to me that ppl think he should be chained head to toe with guards all around him while on trial! He still deserves a fair trial like anyone else.

This is normal. Judges are humans and they do get real with defendants. They have to be. Before they officially declare the sentence, they get the opportunity to just speak their mind. Often, this explains why they give the sentence that they do which is helpful for all parties, as well as on any appeals. It's also the moment a judge gets a shot at getting through to those people who never seem to learn, trying to convince them that they have to stop messing up in the hopes that they'll finally improve after and during they serve their sentence. It's harsh, yes, but it's very much not intended to be a nice occasion. Also, many defendants would prefer a "mean" but vocal judge over one that gives them a sentence but never actually says what they're thinking. I guess if you're gonna sit in a cell for however long, you may start to appreciate knowing why you didn't get probation, even if you hate the judge for it.

I disagree. He clearly stated that he "tried to kill a judge today". That's attempted murder. He's violent. He's had DV arrests/convictions constantly since he was 18. His go to reaction is violence. He would've murdered someone sooner or later. He needed to be taken off the streets before it happened.

I'm so confused, is this a "judge" presiding this case or a language arts professor. :)
