Every place in the world has pros and cons, and Mexico is no exception. In this video we'll explain the two sides to Mexico, both the good side and the bad side about the safety, the community, the weather, the transportation, etc. Although Mexico does have some problems, we believe that the good side to Mexico far outweighs any of the negatives that you may hear about. Enjoy the video!

After 6.5 months of traveling through Mexico, I'd say your assessment is spot on. We are in Oaxaca now and the weather is gorgeous. No need for AC or heat as you said. Mexico City was a bit colder at night, but the daytime hours were beautiful. We just arrived with another 180 days in our back pocket. Not sure if we will stay the full 6 months, but if we do I'm sure we will enjoy it. Safe travels guys.

We relocated to Morelia, Michoacan two years ago. Only got sick eating once, just after our arrival, in Mexico City. I too have NEVER had any issue with law enforcement, and always feel safe. My wife is Mexican and I'm from Reno, Nevada. A month after we got here, I suffered a stroke. I had surgery for a brain aneurysm. It was VERY affordable, even when paying out of pocket. The medical care was excellent! Loud celebrations are prevalent, but it's the way it is, cultural. I had promised to bring my wife to be close to her family. It's proven to be the best move of my life! VIVA MEXICO 🇲🇽

Thanks 🙏 so much for this informative clip. I’m planning a trip to Mexico 🇲🇽 to get Stem cell injections for my rheumatoid arthritis. The prices in Mexico for healthcare is simply mind blowing. A great example of that was for your $3.00 meds. Also, I agree, the underlying anger with Americans have reached a pinnacle that pushes so many to be a “KAREN”. I lived in NYC for 18yrs & simply could not take people being so mean. Don’t get me wrong, I understand we are all trying to supply for our families, while at the same time, have a nice quality of life. The prices of basics have sky rocketed- GAS ⛽️, FOOD, clothing & SHELTER. I’m now living an hour away from Los Angeles. Now & during the Pandemic 😷 we did have some positives, people helping people. We had a family with 4 small children in our apt. Complex & we all made sure the mom had formula & whatever basic food staples the kids needed. The people in Mexico 🇲🇽 are truly gracious & helpful! Thanks 🙏 again for your awesome 👏 clip ! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING. Mind, Body, Fitness Expert, Blake

Great video. Good breakdown of all the pros and cons. Mexico was on our list of possible retirement places but due to taking my MIL (who is Chinese) we decided on Thailand for the time being just so she would be more comfortable with the food and culture. The wife and I would love to spend some time in Mexico (as well as Central and South America) later in life.

@@robster7012 Well, they both have their pros and cons. We like Mexico better for weather and immigration requirements. But we like Malaysia better for safety and cost of living. Also, Malaysia is more modern and developed compared to Mexico. If immigration wasn't an issue we would choose Malaysia over Mexico, but the financial requirements for the MM2H visa are too high for us. Hope that helps!

My GF and I plan to slow travel like you guys in 2023. I hear stories (especially Mexico City) of immigration officials recently NOT granting 6mo stays for visitors and having travelers justify why they need the full 6mo in Mexico. When you went through immigration, what story did you tell them? ("Oh, we're just slow traveling and we want to see as much of the country as we can!" or "We're considering applying for a temporary and then permanent residency here and we want as much time as possible to check out many cities." etc. ) And did you purchase a round trip ticket 6mo that returned 6mo after your arrival to "prove" to immigration you needed the full 6mo? Many thanks! EDIT: just watched the entire video. Is it your understanding immigration is only cracking down on visa runs and just coming for 6mo in the beginning is no big deal? Still interested in what you told immigration. Thanks!
@snailtravelers
@snailtravelers 2 года назад
When we first entered Mexico in Spring 2021 they weren't yet cracking down, so we didn't have any problems. We have friends who entered in December 2021 (after they began cracking down) but they didn't have any problems and were given the full 180 days. It seems like each immigration office is different, some are easily giving 180 days no questions, others are really cacking down. If you plan to fly into Mexico soon, my advice would be to research stories of people either getting the full 180 days or being denied at the specific airport where you plan to enter.

Great summary. I just took an early retirement and we are about start our slow travel. What do you do for your health insurance? Was your hospital stay paid for by insurance or just out of pocket (virtually free)?
@snailtravelers
@snailtravelers 2 года назад
Thank you! We have our health insurance through IMGlobal. It's an international policy that requires us to be out of the US for at least 6 months per year. It has a $5,000 deductible per person, but that is cut in half outside of the US. We paid $2,662 for the year for the two of us. We weren't charged for the hospital stay in Mexico so we didn't file a claim with our insurance. I don't know if this is because this type of emergency room visit is free in Mexico, or if it is because I was feeling better by the time I got to the hospital and so they didn't run any tests other than taking my blood pressure. I hope your slow travel journey goes well.

We are going to Queretaro on Dec1 for two month to experience Mexico and see if we want to live there. We have travelers insurance but the health insurance is super expensive if you live there. I think we got a quote for 686 a month for the two of us with a 5000 deductible. We are healthy, no issues but over 60 and that is the cost. I don't think we would live there full time because of the cost of health insurance.
