I remember going to his house and woke him up. The first thing he did was fill a large McDonalds cup with vodka and chugged it. Then he would re fill it and just keep drinking through out the day.

He said she had kids. I hope he was looking after them for that day. I doubt she has a job, more likely living off the taxpayers.

An actual injury does not necessarily need to be inflicted in order to be considered assault. He drove away recklessly, with the door open and the officer in his lap, with the clear intention of getting away. He knew that speeding away with the door open would most likely result in her falling out of the car. He knew she might suffer some injury in doing so. A reasonable person would understand that falling out of a moving car could cause injury. The common knowledge of falling out of a car = possible injury plus his reckless operation of the vehicle shows he intended for her to be injured. Therefore we satisfy the requirement that he did at least have intent to hurt the officer, even though he didn’t actually hit her with the car.

That’s what I don’t get. Here in the Netherlands, most/all cops (as far as I know) carry breathalyzers with them to do tests. Why go through the hassle of a field sobriety test?

Been there done it twice, was jailed both times when I literally just tried to get them off of me. Was grabbed by the throat, punched, slapped, and just because I grabbed their arms to keep them from doing anymore damage, I was the one guilty. What a world we live in.

It's starting to get better but I agree. On the flip side, as a DV Victim myself... I wish more severe punishments were enacted for abusers. My ex always got out of jail like a couple weeks later and would show up and do it again and it happened again and again. Never a felony always misdemeanors even though one time he knocked me unconscious and I was pregnant almost everytime he went after me. The last time I was 2 weeks postpartum. He even tried setting the home on fire and they never charged him with it. His own mother ran him over trying to drive away from him because he was trying to hurt her too. He was so manipulative, he tried to press charges against me for shoving him off of me and running away and locking the door. The judge laughed and tossed it as it was clear self defense.

Assault on Officers Deputy James Craigmyle from Greene County Sheriff's Office · 26 Jul On July 19, 2019, at approximately 10:56pm, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a white in color Ford Mustang in the 500 block of West Chestnut Expressway for a license violation. While deputies were investigating the reasons for the violation, it was determined that the license plates on the vehicle were possibly stolen from a local salvage yard and the driver had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Deputies asked the driver to exit the vehicle, however he began resisting and refused to exit the vehicle. As Deputies were attempting to take the driver into custody, he placed the vehicle in drive and accelerated knocking one deputy to the ground. As the vehicle briefly stalled, a second deputy attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle, however he again accelerate rapidly knocking the second deputy to the ground and fleeing the scene eluding deputies. On July 24, 2019, deputies obtained a warrant for the driver of the vehicle, identified as 28 year old, Brandon J. Blas of Springfield for two counts of 2nd Degree Felony Assault on Special Victim (Law Enforcement). That evening Detectives located Blas at his residence and were able to take him into custody. Blas is currently in the Greene County Jail being held on a $75,000.00 bond in addition to his previous outstanding warrant
