I got a pulled over a while ago going over the speed limit cop was nice knocked the speed down to 5 miles over instead of my original speed so it wouldnt effect my insurance still paid a fine though went from 160 to 92 I had insurance but the card I gave him I didnt realise was expired pulled it on my phone told me I was good he believed me didnt site me for not providing insurance at the time of the stop.

A person can have their license revoked but get permission to drive to and from work only. So he may have gotten that worked out through the court, but that does not mean it is reinstated.

For sure. Everytime I've been pulled over, if I had a cig already lit I make sure to put it out. It's just the polite thing to do. I think people that light up do it because they think there's a good possibility they might be going to jail.

@Gjhammer Gjhammer I know it varies from state to state. But most of the states around here, the court will issue the Court's decree as a written document. If he had that, he would of been okay. Without documentation on him, and the DMV not having input anything into the computer, to the police it was just another story as good as any other they hear.

Actually freedom of speech does give you the right to talk over the police. But it doesn’t mean the have to listen and it doesn’t mean you don’t have to have the proper documents on you when driving. You can talk all you want as they put you in cuffs and tow your car.

There is no “paperwork” All driving stuff is handled through the DMV. If the DMV didn’t unsuspend his license, he can’t drive. Simple as that.

josef steiner in the academy. I currently work in healthcare, so we have to deal with people who are hurt, sick, lying, addicts, and we get closer and more personal with our local community. My people skills and being able to recite laws and policies are solid, i know my area, i can apply knowledge and read people, however once i'm an officer it will be easier to deal with uncooperating people, safely and professionally of course.

i got pulled over for blowing through a red light . i seen that the cop witnessed my infraction ( i didn't see him until too late ) . i pulled over and waited for him . when he caught up , he asked why i stopped. i told him i stopped because i knew i ran the light and knew he was coming after me . he had a dumbfounded look on his face . he asked me if i didn't see the red light , i told him , no , i saw it . he asked if my brakes were bad , again , my answer was no , my brakes are great . he asked " why did you do it " . i said that i seen i could do it and not serve risk to anyone at all . he couldn't believe i was not trying to lie to him . he couldn't believe i wasn't making excuses for it . he let me go with a warning . honesty pays people .

@zilch1823 You can't hear apparently, there is a law that applies in these cases. You must have your valid id and/or court orders with you when operating a motor vehicle. Whether the suspect was lying or not is irrelevant. To madly blither on is not only ridiculous, it's futile and annoying. You seem to feel insulting someone for what you felt was a lack of empathy is a correct action. You are worse than the original poster and certainly more childish. Actually, there is in many states. You can receive a judges permission to obtain a work license, or medical clearance, while suspended.

I was driving through Jeffersonville and got pulled over for speeding by the cop with the tattoos. Immediately told him I loved him on Live PD and he let me off with a warning. LOL

He may have been to court and has permission to drive for whatever reason, but if so, you need to have that proof in writing and on your person while driving otherwise this is what happens. Anyone can say they've been to court and all of that, but if you haven't got the papers granting it on you, then you have no way to prove it...Anyone can lie. Especially important in situations like this where the guy has already been pulled over before and gotten himself into trouble. Some people just never learn..

If you indeed have a court order giving you permission to drive, best make sure you are not on the road UNTIL you have paper IN HAND with you! Period!
