First time watching; is it mandatory the caution periods last 45 minutes or……? I mean Jesus Christ that was excruciating.

Yeah what they weren’t telling you on tv but were telling you at the circuit was that the Mercedes that went off hit and damaged the barrier which needed repairing and the car also finished upside down. That and the driver needing medical attention meant a pretty long safety car

What I found bizarre was how long it took for the GT4s to catch up the rear of the field after they'd been waved through. Plus, I know it's the rules but you'd think there would be a way of safely waving them through when under caution so we could go racing quicker

The crashed car, ambulance and barrier repair is shown in the broadcast. This takes time.
