Palestinians are very attached to their land and they will never except loans from banks and investors that could lead - used one day as an excuse for taking their land as an exchange for the loans. Additionally; Palestinians’ major problem is not jobs and good standard of living. Their problem is their Land that Israel keeps occupying day after day and the world is watching. Therefore; it would be best to facilitate peace talks first and everything else will smoothly follow. Thanks for the sentiments, sadly this will never happen and both sides are to blame. Though currently Israel is definitely at a position to make life easier for Palestinians but chooses not to in a bid to pressure them to leave, give up on their cause or die. I'm a Palestinian Christian and I've had family members who have been shot at, raped, had their homes stolen etc...I think at this point there is too much bad blood on both sides and it is heartbreaking. Sadly I really do not think peace will EVER happen between the two of us and sadly I think us Palestinians will never have our homeland as we know it. But the regions of Gaza and West Bank need more time for such a plan to come into force. The local population would need time to get adapted because of many reasons: the current level of education and economy. Ethnic and religious reasons should never be neglected as well. The potential development of the region would attract foreign people. It is important that the local Palestinian population, the ones that are poor and not so educated, would retain the right to reside there. Many young educated Palestinians from the West Bank find jobs on the territory of Israel. But many others just rely on the trade of goods, mainly with religious value. When it comes to religion, Bethlehem is the birthplace of King David. It is a holy city not only to Jews but to Christians as well. Innovation and prosperity would not influence the major outlook of the city I hope. Holy cities are meant to stay the way they were in the past. So that God would not get angry at all of us. Touching Gaza, however, seems too risky. I am not well acquainted, but terrorist groups outside of the territory could react and an armed conflict is possible.
I'm a little distrustful of IMF and World Bank but I commend the effort and hope that it's continued. "When there's peace in the Middle East" is often the more exaggerated version of "when pigs fly" but something has to give. Seems an economic empowerment solution would be a ton more ethical than advocating for the same actions to be done to Israelis that were done by the IAF against the Palestinians or allowing the situation that Hamas and Hezbollah have kept in the dark while using international aid to fund terrorism instead of helping the very Palestinians they claim to protect. Personally the hood I grew up in is nothing compared to the slum conditions many Palestinians are living in, but these ideals would be helpful here too.
