Problem with people like that is when they try to grab/pet a random dog without asking and if the dog freaks out and bites them, they go “PH MY GOD CONTROL YOUR DOG WTF” like I’d bite you too sis don’t grab creatures you don’t know
@Aussie Bean SAME, Like I dont knoe you! You might be a threat to me. Its called self defense, and like she said they go "CONTROL YOUR DOG" its their first instinct! They don't wanna be taken from their owners or hurt in any way!
It should be equivalent to assault. I'm in a wheelchair and one time a man pushed me away because I blocked a shelf in a store but he did not say anything. I totally lost it.(Bad day already). My friend said he didn't make any effort to make himself known or that I was in the way.
@@fanboyfilm6952 this !!! why should people be allowed to touch your personal property and get away with it ? i’m sorry you had to deal with that, i can’t believe the things that people think are acceptable.
What I find weird is why people pet other people's dogs without asking, in the first place. When I was a kid, I learned to always ask before touching anyone's dog.
Ya same I grew up with a mom who is a vet and she always told me three things she said 1st : if you she a dog with a vest don’t pet it don’t call it don’t touch it ignore it it’s a working dog and the person needs it and you don’t need a reason why just leave it alone. 2nd: if the dog dose not have a vest you still don’t touch it you kindly and Politely ask the owner if you can pet the dog and respect them if they say no because it’s there dog. 3rd: when you do pet the dog do it with kindness and respect stroke the fur on its body but not in places the dog could be sensitive in and you don’t pet the dog forever you pet the dog say thank you and move on.
Waiting for an answer would be good too. Like I've had kids ask if they could pet my dog, but before I get to more than the first letter in the word "no", they've already reached out to touch him...
I learned the same thing. Or like my condo manager and neighbors I'm sitting outside with my service dog who has also been trained as a guard dog due to our house being broken into and her brother being killed. (In process of retiring her from service dog to just guard dog.) My new neighbors and new condo manager like to just walk into my yard when I'm outside with her and try to pet her without asking permission. I learned as a 3 year old that you don't touch or look at dogs you don't know unless you get permission.
People always just walk up and put their hand straight in my dog's face. She's fine with being petted but like they don't even ask or acknowledge me. It's always older people too! Like if my dog bit them, we'd be the ones dealing with the repercussions of an idiot; not every cute little dog is fine with having a hand in their face. She doesn't bite ever, but if she isn't paying attention and gets startled by a STRANGER, I can't blame her for acting out of character in that moment. I'd bite too😅
I hate people who think they can just pet service dogs or touch them even if you for example say he’s a service dog 🐕🦺 he can’t be touched it pisses me off so much
yeah... and just dogs in general. Like they are not public property, you shouldn't just go and touch people's dogs... I don't know why it's a thing to try to pet stranger's dogs, even if permission is asked.
As a dog walker this bothers me to NO end!! I taught my daughter at the age of 2, never approach any dog! If we are out and someone has a dog, she always asks IF she is interested in petting it. And she just looks at a service dog and minds her business with a smile. Raise your kids right...with respect for all!
what the heck was she grabbing for lol it looked liked she wanted to grab his tail or yank on his leg/shoes or something how rude. Plus he's clearly wearing a vest that says don't pet lol people...
It looked more like she was pointing to me since she asked her what she had said. So she gestured, most likely out of habit. I only say this because of how her hand was shaped into a clear one finger 'point' when she reached down. 21:17
@swiggity swooty the service dog got distracted by being pet. It’s used for help. NOT petting and/or playing with. She was just trying to shop making sure she was safe in the process.
My own mom disrespects service Dogs and hates it when I correct her. I have a friend with a service dog and will always stand up for service dog and handlers rights.
DreamersFantasy Sutdio Hate to say it but one day your mom is gonna get karma for disrespecting the working puppers out there. It’s illegal in most places to bother them while working.
@@dreamersfantasysutdio5322 sorry to say that but karens are karens. I dont know your mom but if you say a karen is like a demon your insulting the demon
People give me the opposite. People give me a hard time about having a pound service dog because it could “all of a sudden” turn mean. Like, this dog has has more than 1200 service hours! It is really nice of you to keep up the rescues, you’re someone we should all look up to.
21:15 *D I S G U S T A N G* DON TOUCH THE CHILD IT SAYS ON THE ✨VEST✨ “do not pet” SO WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE HIM ✨UNCOMFY✨ Sorry I sound lowkey triggered, I just get highkey irritated when people pull this stoopid kind of stuff
I understand..but alot of people don't know that they mustn't touch them. And what annoys ME is when people with service dogs don't understand that ALOT of people haven't been educated on this and shout at the people and go on and on and on about it instead of educating them.. and I'm NOT trying to hate I'm just saying. People make mistakes(but ik you get annoyed I understand that)
@@sarahhutton2220 that annoys me too- I’d like for people to actually educate people who don’t know instead of just complaining or sumn But I also understand why they wanna complain-
@@sarahhutton2220 why should we be nice? Our dogs are covered in patches that say do not pet. If someone can’t take a few seconds to read then I am not obligated to be nice.
His shoes are adorable but, he’s wearing a vest that says do not pet! Why? Why? Why would she grab at him. That was crazy. You handled the situation very well!!
I saw a service dog in public the other day. I only saw the head at first, and my Grandma said "Awww, look at the dog!" knowing I'm obsessed with dogs. But the dog had walked into my view and i said "Don't talk to or about it, its a service dog." So we just kinda ignored it, and then me and the lady with the dog ended up in the same aisle. It was fairly tight and not enough room for her to pass with the dog, so i moved out of the aisle and waited until she passed. She kinda looked surprised, but she said "Thank you so much!" And i was just kind of like "Of course!" because, in my mind, that's just common courtesy. Anyways, i just find it so sad that its almost normalized to the point where its surprising for someone to do the right thing for some one with a disability or a SD.
I'm in the UK where people seem to be much more respectful of service/assistance dogs, but it's still pretty rare for people to move aside. My mum especially (unfortunately) likes to force me and my AD into tight situations, like putting her cart in the middle of the aisle, and with me stood next to her we're blocking 70% of the space. Then she refuses to move, so I have to squeeze past and get me and my dog into a less obstructive position. Great for the anxiety!!!
It just dissapoints me that people think they can grab service dogs. I don't have a service dog, but I understand how annoying that must feel. Yes, when I see one I want to pet it, but I can controll myself because I know they are working
Ashton Conrad, exactly! That’s impressive that you don’t have a service dog and know about them. That’s not common these days, knowing the law when you don’t have one. Good job being a good person!
Yes! Whenever I see a vest, sometimes it to warm them up, like they get them their own clothes basically. I know the service vests are way different but I just really wanna make sure so I ask if it's a service dog. I wanna pet them, but like you i know not to disturb them.
Bro, how long is it gonna take for people to get it through their heads, DON’T TOUCH SERVICE OR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOGS!!!!! It’s sad how I’m 13 and a year ago when I was 12 I was in the store and saw a German shepherd with a service vest on sitting with its owner and I KNEW I shouldn’t touch or even look at him/her, how come adults can’t have common sense for once but a teenage child can 🤦🏼♀️
If the owner is a bitch then the dog would absolutely wear it. I’m a bitch. I’d put it on my program graduated service dog. Owner choice. Oh yeah. I had two of those patches on my retired service dog. I’m def that bitch. And I do bite for sure.
@@HellfireXChaotica we could use dtp as an example say the handler was about to pass out and the dog was doing deep pressure therapy and someone came out and touched the dog causing a distraction then the dog gets up and stops pressure that can make passing out episides last long and freak the handler out if the dog isnt there
I don't have. A service dog more like. A guard dog. BC wer i live women. Get kidnapped ever single time. So.my dog helps. Her name a coco. She is good with people she knows but people that she doesent. Know. Bite. .but i am trying to Make her not bite everbodey she is a sweetheart❤️ ( Sorry for My Bad inglish qwq )
I feel like this is going to backfire though if you're giving the impression that a service dog is aggressive in any way. I'd be very careful using that command, it gives a lot of ammo to overly sensitive people.
@@Secret65548 Oh no! Not overly sensitive people! Like the lady in the vid who felt entitled to grab a service dog? I'd have a conversation about suing for assault and see how that goes.
It looked more like she was pointing to me since she asked her what she had said. So she gestured, most likely out of habit. I only say this because of how her hand was shaped into a clear one finger 'point' when she reached down. 21:17
@swiggity swooty she has the right to make a big deal, you arent even allowed to touch, point, stare, or interact in anyway with a service animal, it distracts them, he has to alert her, what if he didnt alert her at that time cause of that? She has ever right to make any deal about it.

Exactly. Normally I can't stop myself from smiling at the handler and going "awwww what a cutie" before moving along, but I have never pet a service dog without permission, and I never ask for permission. What a lot of people don't understand is that respect goes a long way. It doesn't happen all the ti.e which is fine, but I have had a lot of handlers smile back, and tell me I can give them so.e quick lovin if I want. You don't just get into someones space, and try to pet an animal that isn't yours. Most especially not service dogs. They are working. Some people just don't have any home training.
Like you said he is medical equipment. Max is also a dog but he is there to assist you in your life. You wouldn't mess with someone's medication or with a wheelchair or any other medical equipment that may be needed to assist people so why do they mess with a service dog. If you mess with someone's medical equipment it can have disastrous effects on a person's well being. Your videos are great and very educational. Thank You for sharing your videos with us.💜🐾🐶
Even if they aren't service dogs, you DON'T grab at somebody else's dog! I can't believe how many people don't get this. You ask to touch. If they have a vest, you don't engage at all!!!
I just found your channel & omg your channel style is awesome! I love how diverse your content is. I have tried to do a similar thing on my channel and it hasn’t worked as well for me as it’s working for you 🤣 Your pup max is adorable! I’m excited to go back & watch more of your videos.
I hate when people do that... even if it's not a service dog people have no right to touch your dog without the owners permission... especially now during corona you shouldn't even go near others or their pets...
...? That woman could of honestly hurt the dog if she grabbed the tail and pulled it. Not to mention, the dog shouldn't have been touched in the first place.
@@darkmindedbutterfly5290 I dont have kids. Dont care about a phone that much. And people pet my dogs everywhere we go. Im more laid back and dont start drama everywhere I go thou 🤣
Her trying to touch max triggers me because I can easily have my anger triggered also I changed my profile picture too bumblebee for Liam Edit: thanks for the heart
I experienced the same thing, Apparently a karen was at the store saying it was taking too long in the line up She was right infront of me I told her “Please lower your voice” she told me to shut it The worst part was my mom needed to get another thing so she left me with my dog The lady pulled my dog’s tail and he whimpered....I got so mad I shouted.. I said “DON’T TOUCH HIM!” My mom was getting close to me and she heard my scream When she finally met with me she asked me “Why did you scream!” I said “THIS WOMAN PULLED KURO’S(My dog’s name) TAIL!, YOU KNOW HE DOESN’T LIKE GETTING TOUCHED THERE! WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO?! LET HER PULL HIS TAIL?! AND HURT HIM?!”
we had a guy that went to my school and his service dogs name was sadie. she got her picture in the yearbook and her own chair in classes. one of my teachers would spend her own money buying sadie treats and stuff.
Thank you for bringing this to peoples attention^-^ I have many friends with service dogs, and am possibly getting/training mine to be one soon, and many times i myself forget to ignore them, or at least dont pet or grab them, at the most without permission. So, thanks for being kind to the woman about it:) not a lot of kindness going around rn.
WTF does that lady think she is doing?! Even if I saw a service dog and wanted to pet it, I would ask. Just because the dog is cute doesn't override the fact that she is grabbing a service dog.
When I always see a service dog I always try to keep my distance and sometimes I compliment the service dogs but I never go over to touch them or anything! ♥️
I can't stand it when entitled people who think it's okay to grab a service dog or pet them. These dogs are not there for these entitled people's enjoyment or to entertain their entitled children.
I think the other thing is that his vest is so decorated, in fairness it looks different from the standard simple service dog vests people may be used to seeing, so it’s easier to think he’s just in a pet harness. My neice has one (for medical) and hers has the standard black and red with medical dog, working, do not pet. And nothing else and while she still has to gently educate some people, it’s more easily recognized.
i respect sevice dogs as i have had one because i have anxiety and i go through the roof and my service dog leans on me and he also blocks behind me as suden noises freak me out and my freinds will stand up for my service dog if some one distracts him
Honestly, this is one of my greatest challenges as a dog trainer. Please, please, please teach your children to ask permission before touching ANY dog. You do not know the owner or the dog's psychiatric or medical state. And if they clearly have a vest on, DO NOT TOUCH THEM!!! I had one student with PTSD who was training her dog as an ESA and, while on the way to my class, some lady literally pushed her out of the way and reached in to her car from the driver side door to pet her pup. Afterwards, the ESA was very defensive towards other people, which was a far cry from her friendly personality. Btw, you look so much happier here and I am so glad things are going better for you
Have you lost your mind posting over 30 minutes of this video to see literally three seconds of someone admiring your dog. We understand you're not supposed to interrupt a dog while working, but not everyone understands that. For you to make that big a deal over something that small, is small of you.
For one thing it's meant to be educational don't like it don't watch. The patches on the dig which are easy to read say " DO NOT TOUCH" It is a big deal. Her dog gets distracted and misses an alert to her chronic illness medical episode it could mean HER LIFE. And under the ADA FEDERAL LAW IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISTRACT A SERVICE DOG.
Okay, granted yes his little booties are adorable but at the same time... He's working, that vest even says it, in several places and several ways... For service animals, those vests are their work uniform. They're working. Second it's off that's different but even then they're working because with Max for example, you know he's still keeping an eye on his mama despite wearing that vest or not at home. I always ask first of course because i am one of those people who has common sense and courtesy. Although I will admit to giving their owners treats for them just for keeping their hoomans safe and sound, you know? Edit: you can also see right after that encounter with that lady, he was checking his mama too. He knew she was pretty irritated by what happened.
This is a constant problem with those of us who need a new service animals where individuals in public insist on doing what they want to do and if you deny them they make faults statements etc
You sound like you're hella pissed off and most of your videos like just borderline really upset all the time when you have an animal like that you need to let people know that her the lack of knowledge about service animals there's way to go in a round it besides snapping at people and talking to them like they're absolutely imbeciles just because of lack of knowledge
Yeah let her just put her PTSD away and not let it flair. Plus sometimes when you have a chronic illness and have to deal with this all the time you don't have the paibteice to be nice. Or you don't realize your snapping at someone
@@christinenamgoung8027 The sign most service dogs wear on their vest should give them a clue. They all say something like "I am a service dog, I am working, do not pet."
Yeah, with the “random dogs tail” thing, my dog just recently recovered from a broken bone in her tail. So if somebody tried to do that to my dog that would be pretty bad.
I heard somewhere that dogs have the brain capacity of a human toddler, so when I see someone try to touch or play with or whatever with my dog, who has absolutely no training but is a sweetheart monster, it just makes me stop and think. Hey, if someone tried to touch your human toddler without your permission, they 99.999% of the time wouldn't do it. So why are dogs any different? They shouldn't be, whether they're untrained sweetheart buttheads like my dog or a very well trained dog like hers. It's not right. Period.
I had some jerk try to pet my Service Dog on two separate occasions in two different stores. Each time I politely told him don’t touch my Service Dog, he’s working, and it can be a federal crime. He had the audacity to argue with me about why, because he’s a service dog, it should, and he should be ok with it! “Because he’s in public he should be okay with people touching him” and while yes, Hunter never allowed himself to be distracted when people would be rude and touch him as we walked past, it’s still the principal. You don’t know what his job is, you don’t know what he’s trained to do to help me, and it still comes back to you wouldn’t start petting a wheel chair, an oxygen tank, or a walker…. So keep your damn hands off my service dog! When I couldn’t reach the man with polite logic, I finally threw back my head and bellowed “SECURITY!!” and the guys who worked there, and knew me, were quick to escort him off property with the promise of calling the cops next time he harassed /anyone/ with a Service Dog. And this guy was in his 60-70s, so clearly his momma failed to teach him you never pet a strange animal without asking first.
I have a 10 yr old lab mix service dog. He's still healthy but is for sure starting to slow down a bit. I'll have to fully retire him in a year or 2 probably. I've cut down how often I go out with him. But he gets bored and into trouble at home if I don't take him out. Stubborn old man lol! I can't get another dog till he's gone (he gets jealous, I can't afford it, I don't have the space). How do you handle having to go in public without a service dog? I do it cuz I have to but it always leaves me exhausted and anxious. So I'm really scared for when the day comes that he's really just too old to work anymore. I don't wanna become a shut in
21:15 NAHH FAMM- IT CLEARLY SAYS IN THE VEST “do not pet” In my opinion that lady ignored the vest and just tried to grab him! Was the lady a worker or..? Bc if she was a worker then that’s just wrong :/ she should know not to. I’m glad she wasn’t fully able to touch him bc he would be got distracted. I can’t believe some ppl gave this kind of energy to do that. It wrong to try to grab a service dog. Also I feel like even though max gets distracted he try’s to ignore the ppl distracting him. Which is amazing!
Wow . He's awesome . an I've worked wt animals before an always told my kids to ask an when dogs are working the answer is no . not while they are working .. Some ppl just don't fucken get it .
Who in the right mind would just suddenly touch a dog? If they did that to my dog she would spin around and snap at the hand because she would get scared. And then I would get blamed for having a dog that "bites" people. smh
When training our dogs, we don't get dog treats because they are filled with a bunch of bad stuff for them. We get baby Gerber cereal, the banana ones and blueberry ones, and those work really well. And not a lot of bad chemicals!! Just fruit and oats!!
Not all treats are bad. There are great freeze dried treats that are just pieces of dried meat. Other treats are also fine and contain no worse ingredients then baby cereal would have. You just need to check ingredients.
@@SohiHien thank you! I do check ingredients, and lots of stuff at Walmart that is good for your dogs is way overpriced, while these are only about one or two dollars! It saved my training!
This is just a new level of stupid. Even if they weren’t in Walmart and he wasn’t a service dog you still have to ask for permission to pet someone’s dog, what if the dog is aggressive or fearful? Even if that wasn’t the case YOU STILL NEED TO ASK and you need to respect when someone says no too. ._.
