LIVE: Sheikh Hasina to be Extradited? | Indian Doctors on Strike | Vantage with Palki Sharma
As legal cases rise against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh could consider requesting her extradition from India. Bangladesh’s de-facto Foreign Minister, Mohammad Touhid Hossain, said on Thursday that if the home and law ministries decide to proceed, they might formally ask for her return. Hasina fled to India on August 5, following a violent uprising that claimed more than 400 lives. She now faces at least three cases in Bangladesh, including a murder charge. When asked about the possibility of extradition, India’s foreign ministry on Friday dismissed the question as "hypothetical." On Vantage tonight, Palki Sharma explores the options available to India.

Let me interpret what our dear Palki Sharma means: UN human rights has called for an investigation into the mass murder of peaceful student protesters, 650 officially declared as of yet, many more unidentified bodies were mass buried. And Bangladesh has agreed to cooperate with UN to find out the truth. Hense the call for ex PM to come to Bangladesh to help with the investigation, as the two countries have a treatie. Sheikh Hasina called for further disruption in 15th August, riot in the name of mourning, that the students controlled and stopped further violence. India being a mature country, recognized this, and has decided to stop Hasina from making further noises. Mobs never channeled their anger on minorities, protesters targeted the ex politicians/criminals who were both Muslim and Hindus. If anything, the Muslims are guarding the temples day and night. Our interim govt prof Yunus has invited indian journalists to come to Bangladesh for first hand news coverage, to stop this baseless propaganda. I hope you accept our invitation. If this is however, a face-saving political strategy of Indian govt, to tell Hasina, then this story might make sense.

Firstly, many people do not recognize Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Father of the Nation, believing that this title was imposed by Sheikh Hasina without a plebiscite. They argue that only Awami League supporters and some Hindu communities accept this notion. Those who disagree suggest that a plebiscite should be held to settle the matter. Secondly, the last three elections in Bangladesh have been widely criticized as neither free nor fair, with claims that only about 5% of the electorate participated. Thirdly, allegations have surfaced that Sheikh Hasina's government committed a genocide recently, with the UN reporting 650 deaths, while other sources claim that thousands of students, children, and civilians have died. Moreover, many do not accept the government-declared mourning day, viewing it as an imposed event rather than a genuine day of national mourning. Sheikh Hasina is often labeled as a dictator. There are widespread accusations of corruption, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings of opponents, and other human rights abuses under her leadership. Many people believe that she is the most corrupt Prime Minister in Bangladesh's history, and she is perceived as a deeply unpopular and ruthless leader by a significant portion of the population.

Sheikh Hasina has become a headache for India. Mamta should consider prevention of lawlessness especially for women in her state if she is advocating democratic rights. IMA is not justified in striking but should ask Centre to enact laws for prevention not cure. What happens to innocent people who may face a medical emergency? Not correct for people who take the Hippocrates oath. Humanity should be respected by both states and centre.

This is only because of Moodi's Hindutva philosophy that no woman in India is safe now. Indians elected Moodi just because of his hatred and biased policy towards Pakistan and even Muslims in India. At least Congress Party have not such fanatics and fascist mindset people. No point scoring but to be extremely honest even medical students in Pakistan felt a deep sorrow and pain for a respectful doctor who was disgraced in unsafe India. I agree that Pakistan is a banana republic ruled by a fascist like General Asim Munir and rule of law in India is still 1000 times better than Pakistan but in a country where even a lady doctor is not safe in her own hospital's seminar room there is a big question mark.that why celebrities like John Abraham, Ayushman Khurrana, Ajay Devgan voted for BJP. Just because the tagline the catchphrase or the slogan was hatred towards Muslims. What Moodi did in Gujrat with Muslims is an eye opener for so called modern India...Moodi is a shame name for shame democracy but just on the pretext of hate towards Muslims he got elected consecutively for almost 15 years and Indian Bollywood Stardom was behind all this mindset also who are now trying to ecpose themselves as messiahs and advocates of injustice and inhumanity towards Indian Woman in general.

Is India playing the role of Afghan Taliban, who gave refuge to a terrorist and then refused to surrender that terrorist because they were allies! Might is not always right. While India may perceive itself as a superpower, yet we need to recognize our limitations. Send Sheikh Hasina back to face charges leveled against her, and let the justice process proceed.
