It is PDA at RAF Coningsby and the 2023 Typhoon Display Team and the BBMF aircraft are ALL out for their their displays Flt Lt Matt Brighty, callsign 'ANARCHY1' is not only going to smash out his solo display, but will be in formation with, yes, it is not a typo, the AVRO LANCASTER! PDA (Public Display Authority) means that the impressive sequences of the aircraft over the home base RAF Coningsby are audited. This is it...the hard deck is van skimming 100ft. But this is not all, the Lancaster, Hurricanes and Spitfires were also up for the PDA too.

Brighty is ferociously impressive and he really shows off the manoeuvrability of the Eurofighter Typhoon.The PDA is basically his audited display, his examination, and if he passes will be given his PDA, the authority and clearance to display at airshows and festivals.
Air Officer Commanding 1 Group will award a PDA to 1 Gp display assets. These include both the Typhoon Display Team and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The PDA for the Red Arrows is awarded by AOC 22 Group.
Brighty said to the TCS that "keep the display sequence more tight" and aims to keep the sequence in a more compact space. This will possibly mean that high speed passes may not be present in the sequences in order to keep the manoeuvres confound to a tighter space.

RAF Typhoon display pilots are selected from 29 Squadron, which is the OCU (Operational Conversion Unit) at RAF Coningsby. 'Brighty' has also flown with XI(F) Squadron, which is one of two front-line combat ready squadrons at Coningsby.
Brighty had also been involved in a special WWII flypast in honour of Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC. Brighty flew the pilot wings of Wg Cdr Guy Gibson in his Typhoon around Lincoln on the 24th January 2022. Gibson flew most of his operations from Scampton and Coningsby.
The wings were on a uniform that was left at RAF Coningsby aft Wg Cdr Guy Gibson VC was killed in action in 1944. Gibson helped form 617 Squadron (more famously renowned as 'the dam busters') during early 1943 for the specialised and extraordinary perilous pursuit of Op. Chastise, using the 'bouncing bomb' to breach the dams in Germany's Rhur Valley during the nights of the 16th and 17th of May 1943. What an honour for Brighty to fly the very wings of Wg Cdr Gibson in his Typhoon...
