Sorry that I missed the live show! Great to have caught up. Robert, you mentioned that when you bought your Roustabout album for $20 that it was the White Top reissue. Keep in mind, if you bought any copy other than a Hollywood pressing, your white top is in fact, a First Pressing!
Just watched the whole thing. Great job Johnny and @collectingtheking. Hard to beat a couple of guys talking about their joy in collecting and seeing your collections. The live collaborations are my favorite Elvis youtube format.
Forgive me, but I forgot to acknowledge you, Johnny! I think it’s fantastic that you, someone in a later generation, is involved and so interested in “Collecting the King”! It’s people like yourself who will keep Elvis’ memory alive.
Hey Johnny, Hey I'm in Augusta and I've been collecting Elvis for 20 years along with other records. Next time you come to Augusta let me know and we can go to Grantskis and Psychtronics record stores. I enjoy your channel. I was Friends with Charlie Hodge in the 90's when he lived in Gatlinburg Tennessee. I have some great stories from then.
Great to catch up with you and Robert today, Johnny! Really interesting content and discussions, absolutely loved it! You guys were great! Look forward to another one! 👍🤗
I would like to also add that I had emailed Robert how great it would be if perhaps Ernst Jorgensen could arrange for the Harum Scarum album be totally re-worked on the overall sound in order to better blend the instrumental parts with Elvis’ voice so that he is not bellowing out so strongly over the background music. I never got a reply on that, but what’s your thoughts on that potential project, Johnny?
My 2 cents on the FTD vinyl re-issues...I would think maybe they are re-issuing some before they do other material to stretch out the timeline and keep the collectors engaged. If they reach a point where it becomes obvious that everything is a re-issue maybe the thought is that there will be loss of interest in FTD Just a guess. That being said, I don't think they should 2 in a row. As far as the delays go, I suspect that there were either quality control issues or unforeseen delays having the albums pressed. I think they should only announce them when they're ready to go but there could be financial considerations which prevent that. I'm sure from their perspective they'd like to get as much out as they can (without overdoing it) while this vinyl craze is going on. Has this been a money grab? It always has been and will continue to be. They'll only continue to release material if there's money to be made. I used to complain but I've come to to accept that final purchase decision is my choice, it's my problem I've been unable to say no LOL. I recently finally completed the vinyl set...I can't stop now 🙂
