Does ecamm live auto sync between mixer audio and camera audio? In the video Jake's PTZ camera was at a different speed than his audio, but when he replayed his recording on youtube the audio synced properly. Did you Jake have to configure that or did the program automatically do that?
@universeu7289
@universeu7289 3 года назад
The fact that the PTZ camera comes with USB output it's great, so the HDMI, POE and SDI video output. The problem is most of the churches will use more than one of these and they will be pretty far from the computer so you won't be able to use the USB or HDMI video output since these will only work with short distance cables. So HDMI and USB video output will be useless, the only remaining option for long distance video connection is the 3g-SDi and POE and you will need a 3g-SDi to USB adaptor or I guess POE to USB

HELP! we are using a M32 to OBS for live stream. But what I’m hoping to do is bring the signal from the M32 house mix into Ableton so I can have my own separate mix. Currently I have to keep telling the person running house sound to give me a little more for the guitar, bass, piano or hey let’s add more reverb/delay to the lead vocal for an example. So what I would like to have is where I can add and do what I want in Ableton. I’ve heard of other churches doing this but can’t seem to get how they do it. So far I got all signals coming into Ableton and going into OBS using blackhole, I can add effects and hear them in my headphone, but the live stream still comes out dry. I can’t get the effects into the stream. Help please 😅 🙏🏽

I think we maybe are a bit overkill then. Our church is a bit more than 50 members, and around 250 at conferences. And we have 2 BMD studio cameras HD, 1 BMD TV studio HD, teradek cube and BMD TalkBack system. Bit frustrating that it is possible to do it for so little when we spend so much on it. Edit: Phrasing

Great video. I'm a believer in OBS and it's various variants because they work well and are free (and regularly developed since open source). I would encourage you to check out Streamlabs OBS variant as it's much more polished than OBS studio. It can get some pretty professional results with little effort. Pair that with a service like restream.io and you can stream to lots of platforms simultaneously. It works amazingly for gamers, so I'm sure it would work well for churches, as well. All that to say, I think you gave a lot of good info for folks looking to start expanding their Church outreach for whatever reason. Any way to get the Gospel out there is better than not, right? 😊

I used OBS for years in both a personal and professional environment with a lot of success. However, since switching to vMix, I can tell a noticable difference in stability, optimization, and quality. They aren't really worth comparing, because vMix is superior in every aspect - at a premium cost. So it really comes down to budget. I recommend OBS to clients all the time, but I definitely make it clear that it is inferior to vMix for professional use.

Caution, Streamlabs OBS is NOT the same product, and as it is a code fork that is actively being optimized for gamers, there are some very useful (to broadcasters & churches) features of Studio that are missing and may never show up in this product.

You may be better off if you can dedicate a computer to doing the live streaming. For example, what we're going to be doing next Sunday (And successfully did last Sunday), was to capture the feeds and stream them on a separate computer, while the presentations were running on the same computer that they always run on. I know that it can be done with OBS, but I've never tried it with the commercial software packages he mentions here. I know that OBS can import network captures from Macs to get this kind of data, but we didn't use a Mac for that, we ran OBS on a Mac for streaming last Sunday, and next Sunday, it will be on a Linux box, with the presentations and announcements running on other Windows PCs, just because they're already pressed into service doing those tasks for the hall, and I can pull NDI captures from them into OBS for the live stream.

Your video is very helpful especially for a small church. When you mentioned an xlr out of the m32r into the Behringer for a unique mix, what if you still use an analog board? Trying to understand how you can mix multiple channels with just one xlr out and if you use headphones to mix won't that effect the house mix? We technically right now don't want to do the live stream part but record to post later, but want to plan for the live stream part in the future so this is good info. Goal is to figure out the best way on a small church budget to get a good video recording with a decent audio mix. We already record using a 2 channel maudio that captures the full house mix out of our board, which isn't bad most times but as you said isn't always ideal.
@BuildOrBuy

The XLR out from main board would be a bus or sub bus feed. That would then feed to another mixer attached to computer done this way. Hope that helps!

I use the EVGA XR1 lite instead of the AJA U-Tamp. It is 1/4 the price and has worked very well for me so far. We are getting to the point where a lot of the no-name cheaper ones on Amazon are decent as well, but they are hard to recommend since they change so much. I gave a $20 no-name unit to a nephew for Switch streaming, and it just worked. The main thing to look for in those is UVC support.

Thanks for this - we are Ecamm users now and it is working like a charm. An important note about the PTZOptics cam though, especially if you're going to mount it in your church: the remote that comes with the camera is essentially USELESS. It is, believe it or not, infrared, like the old TV remotes, not RF. That means in order to get it to work, you have to stand in front of the camera and point it at the sensor. I guess the manufacturers didn't consider the fact that if you're standing in front of the camera, you're ON camera. Unless you're okay with sitting next to the minister onstage and on camera while they're speaking so you can zoom, tilt, and pan, you'll have to create an ethernet network and connect to the camera from your computer that way (PC folk have an rs232 option as well-we're mac folks.) We made the mistake of hiring a contractor to mount the camera on the ceiling of our church and run hdmi cable from the camera to our booth-and now, though our camera is only 35 feet away, we can't control it. We have to call our contractor back now and have him drag ethernet cable through the ceiling instead (read time delay and added expense.) I didn't see the necessity of creating a network for just one computer and one camera-don't make the same mistake!

No OPEN BROADCASTS SERVICES (OBS) and what's more theirs something called SLOBS (Stream Labs OBS) which is something that does alot of that "Difficult stuff your talking about" soon as you download it, it ask you "Do you want OBS [or they both ask 'you" the user this during install] SLOBS Wizard to run self setup for you? Yes/No, simply select [YES] and itll set up your rendering server and set up your download ingestion server, your relays it set it up and with just a little gear that can be made or bought for cheaper this is a little got me feeling mixed vibes but Ones man business is his own thing, I'm not gonna knock your methods because more than half your intentions are very justifiable and then theirs the other half that's also reasonable because Bill's dont pay themselves. But theirs a tiny bit of like 4% of just wanting some sweet hardware to toy with and use as well as the amount of work that you save I'm doing it your way. But In my mind I can completely shatter those prices and products and install and have made to be plug and play not only that but with private servers that literally 200$ is perfect for a decent backup of all feed to last for years to come. I'm not though because I'm just gonna borrow this here idea or thing your doing and do a version for my church which I havent gone to in years. None the less that's why I'm doing this as a way to try to bring myself back to church. This is just me. Sorry I'm far from perfect but I know may know more than a huge amount of people online, so it's only natural given my tech knowledge background to feel as such, plus I vent and rage alot so my apologies in advance. Seriously. But thank you for the help. Good day

Do you use OBS for your live streams?
@testuser3167
@testuser3167 4 года назад
@@robandjenwedding We do, or at least we have been doing so successfully since we've had to adjust to this COVID19 issue. It can be done and done well, and it's my goal that we will have improved our production quality by an order of magnitude by Easter over what we'd done when we first started doing it a few weeks ago - we didn't start out having a clue about overlays and were just trying to get a video stream out at first, but Palm Sunday is expected to have some flair and polish :-) This past Sunday, we'd worked out all the bugs with the actual transmission of our stream for FB Live, and most of the problems we were working through were related to the video sources and network connections we were trying to use, NOT to OBS. No dropped frames and a rock solid HD broadcast, so now we just have to work on production quality, content quality, maybe adding another camera angle, and improving our slide presentations, etc. Our stream is solid through OBS now, but a month ago, none of us had ever tried to do this, and knew nothing about how to. If you're just getting started trying to live-stream a service, the hardest part is probably going to be getting a video capture device you can use, because they're nearly all sold out everywhere. Audio capture devices are getting scarce too, but if you have any musicians in your church, they are more likely to have audio capture equipment you can borrow for the service if you can buy something like what Jake was showing.

PTZ's are awesome but super expensive. We have one of the cannons he mentioned, I would not recommend it. It is not very clear and does not do well in low light. Our other camera is a Panasonic v770 and it is much clearer. You can find them for around $100 more than the cannon if you look hard. We use a Blackmagic ATM mini which I highly recommend. It supports up to 4 camera's via HDMI in USB output and it will also support audio in. We route our microphone system right into the ATM Mini and then into OBS. Super simple setup that will run you $600-$800 dollars. Check out some of our live streams and you can see the differences between the 2 cameras.

There are quite a lot of churches our encoder to stream live video. See camstreamer.com www.axis.com/products/axis-v59-series The advantage of our solution is that you don't need any computer to stream. Everything is running on board of the camera (RTMP streaming, SD card recording,...) You can automate the streaming e.g. based on week schedule or using electrical on/off switch connected to camera IO port. There is 3 months trial for free.

If I have the PreSonus StudioLive 32SX, can I skip using the small interface and go straight from a mix bus to the computer since the StudioLive also works as an interface?

Hi Jake. I'm working to get our church up and running w/ live streaming. Our church uses a Behringer x32 compact. I'm having difficulty figuring out how we can connect and use the mixer as our audio source. Also, if we are able to set up and use the x32, would the Midas M32R and Behringer UM2 be needed)? Any tips would be appreciated greatly!

Is the any other options to livestream beside youtube and Facebook? What about livestreaming on Rumble? Also, does this software have music presentation capability, and quotes etc.?

Don't make a big production out of it. You're glorifying yourself, not God. :30 in and I was done. And what's with the commercials? Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins, you know.

No offense intended but a $1700 camera for small churches? Yikes! I am willing to accept lesser quality at a lower cost? Any suggestions there?

Thanks for the helpful content. I've been trying to route our Behringer digital mixer to use the card out USB to go into the computer, so that we can use that as a direct audio into OBS or Zoom, etc. With all the different tutorials and tips/tricks videos, I can't seem to get it to route/work properly. Do you have any references or advice to help with this process? We want to be able to simply take a mix from the board, and use that as our sound for streaming and conferencing... Thanks.

What??? What!!! Did Jake just say that having a PC is better for something?!?!?! Hahahaha As for capture devices, I've always liked BlackMagic Design myself. They're professional grade (several of the latest movies you've watched were probably filmed with their gear) , and surprisingly, their entry level models are fairly inexpensive. IMHO perfect for churches. For those that are using a desktop to stream instead of a laptop, you can get a BlackMagic Design capture card at Amazon for $199. This card can capture at up to 4k and includes an output for an HDMI capture monitor - www.amazon.com/dp/B00U3QNP7Q BlackMagic Design also makes an external interface for laptops, which records at 1080p FHD for $145. But this interface is Thunderbolt ONLY. Better throughput for less skipped frames, but just make sure you've got the right input. www.amazon.com/dp/B009D91314/ And as for audio out... You don't necessarily need an audio capture device if you choose to use a camcorder with a capture device. We just take the output from our X32 video mix into the camcorder's Mic-In port. Oh... and you know the tech guy does use OBS... 😁

You know I'm always here to speak up for the PC crowd! As always, love the content. This should be a good series. We only live stream certain events (Like when we have to cancel church for snow, we do a special live stream), and I've seen both your video and Brady's. I think we could reach a larger crowd through live stream, but our lead pastor thinks we're not quite ready for it yet. We've got to make sure that we can convey our church's message properly through the stream. I guess we're just uploading our recorded messages on RU-vid for a while still. Also... any thoughts on the idea that live streaming keeps people from coming to church?

This is a great, simple, and inexpensive way for small churches to live stream their services. I love and will recommend it to other church leaders. Thanks, Jake! This is good stuff. The Lord bless you brother.

What Macbook pro do you recommend for this set up and future use of propresenter? I need a new computer to begin. I am part of the worship ministry school and understand that mac mini is the next step but need a laptop (need portability) right now. Have a windows OS now but want to upgrade computers to Mac. Just not sure which way to go.

I bought this whole set up for our church and it is not that easy to hook up and run. I have been trying for a month to hook up just like the video shows and my laptop does not recognize the camera. I have downloaded so many things to get this camera to run and nothing yet. Trying to get through to the company and nothing from them. Right now I think this is a rip off. I bought the PTZOptics 20x camera as you suggested and it turns on and that is it,. tried usb to usb, cat 5 to cat 5 and HDMI plug in and nothing. new laptops do not have a 9 pin connection.

Thank you for sharing! Is it possible to record the video through OBS or would it best to just stream to RU-vid/FB and download the copy from there?
@Desyphe
@Desyphe 5 лет назад
Yes. You can record video through OBS or stream it. There's an option on OBS to record straight to your computer, or stream to whatever website you'd like by using a stream key. You can stream to Facebook, RU-vid, Twitch, etc. Hope this help!

Haha, Jake, do you know what an overhead projector is? 😂 Seriously though this is so helpful, thank you so much. There are so many of us out here who are needing to set stuff up, whether for small church or simply, as we are this morning, just a home church of 6-12 folk. And many of us are just waking up to all the stuff we can use. I have a question but I'll post it on another comment. Thanks again, great jobs!
