The Emergency Mission is NOT the first version of the Emergency. The Emergency Mission was developed later for those who like the look of a traditional chronometer. The original Emergency includes the two LCD displays on the watch face. In fact, there are two versions of the original Emergency. The earliest can be identified on the watch face displaying "Breitling" above "Emergency" beneath the hands. The later version has "Breitling" above "Chronometre Emergency" beneath the hands. One should note that both these versions of the Emergency have two antennas the must be deployed as indicated by two caps- one at the upper right, and the one at the lower left. These versions of the Emergency technically have better stated transmission range than the Emergency Mission due to the two antennas. The Emergency Mission, itself has two versions- the earliest having distinctly ridged bases of both chronometer push buttons, on the latter version are smooth chronometer push button bases as on the one you are demonstrating. The Emergency Mission models have only one antenna at the lower right, still providing ample transmission range on 121.5 Mhz. Please note that the above discussion speaks of the pieces themselves, not different dial colors or embellishments. As to the difference in deployment method between "Emergency". "Emergency Mission" and the newest "Emergency II (now renamed back to "Emergency") models, in aviation emergency it is vehemently recommended that the pilot "declare an emergency" to air traffic control or the closest tower or other operating frequency while attempting the off-airport landing. Controlling the aircraft is priority, but one must try to establish "May Day" communication at least including the transmission of basic coordinates. This will establish the immediate need of search and rescue parties. Each aircraft is equipped with an "ELT"- emergency location transmitter that search parties will home in on. The Breitling Emergency series of watches are meant to supplement ELT operation, or be an auxiliary if the ELT is damaged in the landing.

If you mean the first model, the signal is broadcast on a worldwide aviation emergency frequency (121.5 MHz). The signal stays on until the battery is dead. The signal won't be picked up by the satellite because the satellite no longer checks for this frequency signal. However, if this signal is heard on an airplane or if the rescue services are searching for you, they will locate you using this signal. If you mean the Emergency 2 model, it also has a 406 MHz digital transmitter which actually transmits a digital ID-coded SOS message to the satellite (COSPAS-SARSAT) so they know to start the rescue operation regardless if the signal was heard locally. Once the signal is on, it cannot be turned off (the antennas cannot be put back in). The service is very expensive, but I think you won't care if it has saved your life. If the signal was activated without need and the rescue operation was done, you will be fined at least for the cost of the operation. It is only to be activated in case of danger to your life.
Hi if you pull out the Antenna in a true emergency all the rescue services come to your Aid.if you pull it out just to try you'll get a very heavy fine about £100000 if it's a Genuine rescue breitling will replace the watch with a new one at no cost to you.its a very good watch
good question - believe its designed to be used once after 24 hours and the battery is dead either you are rescued or probaly dead so wouldnt worry - if you survive, after that it would certainly have to go back to bretling to be reset - used by steve fosset in the virgin balloon adventure - watch later sold for charity - these things to buy new are expensive 20k just the basic watch english plus as you can have extras or personalisation to the watch - and the costs go on monthly fee for emergency service, insurances, regular servicing, batteries, etc - billionaires like them -
So what happens if you pull it your taken hostige or in a car crash or beaten up in an inch of death does it cover that or is it only for air craft accidents
believe any life threatening situation - if in central london easier to call police rather than sending a helicopter from wales - but you dont have to be in a crashed plane in the sahara you could be fell walking, no phone or no phone reception broken leg etc - good question though - but if its set off and its a mistake or a hoax you might have to remortgage your house to pay the fine though 20 -30k fines if a helicopter crew have to travel any distance to find you and its no joke - son dont touch that - doh
