LIVE: Trump Wants Taiwan to Pay for American Defence | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Former US President Donald Trump's recent statement on Taiwan is stirring up tensions in the island nation. In a recent interview, Trump said he wants Taiwan to pay for American military support and assistance. The US is Taiwan's biggest defence partner and also its biggest shield against Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. The current US President Joe Biden has repeatedly promised to protect Taiwan in case of an attack. However, his Republican rival Trump does not share the same position. Taiwan's Premier has reacted to Trump's remarks, saying that "US-Taiwan relationship remains rock solid". If Washington's support for Taipei dwindles, the island nation will be vulnerable to Beijing's attacks.
Trump has a clear lead in the 2024 US Presidential race, which is why his remarks carry more weight. The former President's statements have stirred fears in Taiwan's stock market with the country's top chip company, TSMC, falling by 2.6%. If Trump wins the 2024 Presidential election, his policies are bound to have a larger impact on US' allies and the rest of the world. On Vantage tonight, Palki Sharma tells you more.

So what "free" are you talking about? Taiwan had paid billions and billions to buy outdated and old weapons from the US. It's a rip-off. We all know what that's for and the only cost for the US is giving a promise. The US promised Taiwan if China invaded, the US government would help. This promise now looks so doomed and fake after the Taiwanese got nothing from the US, paid all those rip-offs, and you guys still saying it's a free lunch. WTF?

With the breakage of joint family system and by adopting a new immature system of nuclear family we have made us vulnerable as every family even though having a gradual growth in their income the number of mouth per family has dropped significantly in the last 20 years and the thought of individualism and unnecessary materialistic expenditures have to pointed out as the cause of this crisis. The thought where everyone in my immediate family is my responsibility has left our culture and since every man is for himself they focus on getting more and more jobs without having the proper knowledge or passion to do that thing. Families used to work when 5 people of the family went together and came together with their income but the fact that these are now 5 different houses having quadrupled their income cannot function is not because we are not creating more jobs but because we are multiplying at the age of 25-30 where families multiply and the statistics enlarges.

True, But Egypt is located at a much more important geographical location (Suez canal) than Pakistan. So if their President Al-Sisi wants to really get out of this economical mess, he can get out of it. Also, his recent efforts of selling land, a city known as Ras-al-Hekma, to UAE shows that he is trying to take advantage of his location for the betterment of his country.
