#LIVE NOW: The Wisconsin Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments in a case challenging the state's current electoral district maps. Get more background on the case here: www.channel300...
If the North Carolina Supreme Court and the SCOTUS can change established precedent willy-nilly, based only on changing membership of the court, then that is going to cut the other way as well. I'm not saying that's how it should be, in reality it shouldn't - if a Court decided something a few years ago in a world where everything is working the way it should then it shouldn't bounce back for reinterpretation based solely off of changing membership, but *this* is what happens when we politicize the courts on both the right and left. The feigned shock at the idea that stare decisis only applies against certain constitutional methodologies and not others is intellectually lightweight and utterly illegitimate. This is the real world, and there won't be two sets of rules for one political party, or constitutional method of interpretation, and not the other. I'm not advocating or saying that's how it should be, but observing the reality of it. Remember Judges like Possner or Kennedy? Where are Judges like that?? Sign them up!
Funny to hear the republicans cry about upsetting the 2 year old ruling because that would cause too much turmoil. They say We can’t have rulings changed every time the court changes hands. $100 bucks says every single one of them are fine with Roe being overturned based on new Justices taking over the court “might is right” is all these people live by. The sooner we realize this and act accordingly, the better.
She simply the voice of Conservatives here in Wisconsin who have been slowly having their iron clad grasp here in Wisconsin slowly pried back by Wisconsin voters. Conservatives LOVE to cloak themselves as "Constitutional defenders" and thought they had every avenue of challenging the maps here in Wisconsin shut down, so they are probably furious that there was a loophole that keeps it from their beloved Federal Supreme Court and will most likely strike it down - you love to see it.
Rebecca Bradley is awful. She threw Karen-esk tantrums that are unbecoming of a Supreme Court justice. I gather that Wisconsin elects their justices, I hope they have terms and have to run for reelection so there’s a chance she will be voted out!
12:37 “So unfortunately, this court had to step in two years ago because we couldn’t conduct elections in the state of Wisconsin with malapportioned maps.” Seems like a Wisconsin issue, Alabama did it just fine in 2022.
Wisconsin seemed to have many of those late night, after midnight Deliveries of "just found, ooops I'm late Mail In Ballots" and Software glitches/issues," that arose in many already Called & Won States.
2:30:34 - "...we can go with Red Blob" is the most beautiful and artful use of Judicial shade ever used 😂 Jokes aside, its absolutely shocking yet amazing to hear this man argue that if there is a "Constitutional violation" its small and permissable...
Why does gender have a thing to do with this? We should want the smartest judges possible in the judiciary. Their sex is irrelevant. Isn't that what women should want?
The lady who spoke on behalf of Republican legislators made terrible statement she literally said that we should keep the maps even though only 45 of 99 assembly districts are contiguous ??? wow
There is a state where people determine the maps. They said it started out a little rough but it is getting better. There are no politicians from any group involved. They said it is getting better. I think politicians should not be allowed in every aspect of the voting process. Dems or reps. I think they both do some gerrymandering.
They could have argued against maps earlier but it was all republicans. So it would have went no where. We all know it!!!! I hope republicans loose a lot of power this time around.
