I listened at work today, and am excited to be getting my picture taken with them this weekend in Chicago! What was the name of the Scottish dance Billy mentioned?
One of the reasons why this movie works so well is because of the cast and how they got along. Love the fact that they're still friends, all these years later.
Funny enough I discovered the Friendship Onion before discovering Matt’s channel, but now both are among my drop everything the second a video comes out and watch channels
apologies for the oh-so-late comments so long after this video was posted, but I've only just discovered Matt's channel and getting caught up. Anyway, I have watched a few of The Friendship Onion videos and I'm always amazed at how low & growly Dom's voice is when he didn't sound that way in the LoTR movies. Now, next on my watch list is the interview with John Rhys-Davies!
HaHa! Oh boy this pleases me very much. Great to see the due again, a few more grey hairs of course but that chemistry is still going strong. Just takes me back to that wonderful time when the movies were released. Nice one Matt! The perfect host.
34:28 Oh, I wish I had stayed, but I was referring to LotR. That being said, I am writing a series set in the Fourth Age starring Pippin's great-granddaughter solving mysteries. But, if you'd rather, I could get some work done on my Star Trek/Hobbit series where the Hobbits find a spaceship hidden in the Shire and visit other fantasy worlds. But I wouldn't worry about getting that into an audiobook, would rather people just read it, lol. But thanks for the answer!
Loved this interview, but you can definitely tell that Billy and Dominic have answered a bunch of these questions before and are getting a bit weary of it. Though I guess it's sort of inevitable after 20 years!
If you are interested in learning to have a basic understanding of cricket, there's an excellent video on RU-vid entitled "Cricket Explained for Baseball Fans".
I love seeing the absolute joy on Matt’s face when he’s just listening to the silly stories of our dear hobbits. I was smiling just watching Matt smile. I love this channel and it’s so awesome that the LOTR actors come one from time to time.
@@Lord-Emperor-Vader keep going with the Fall of Gondolin... it's similar to Beren and Luthien, but the thing is that the best Beren and Luthien version is already in the Silmarillion and the Tale is not as good. In the Fall of Gondolin on the other hand the original tale is great (it's really great, you'll see) and the last rewriting (unfinished) of the story is unbelievably gourgeous. That story is included in the Silmarillion in short, but the Silmarillion doesn't do it justice.
My favourite part of this interview as an Aussie Cricket and Tolkien fan was undoubtedly when Dom spoke of The King of Spin or The Sheik of Tweak .....Shane Warne.
I hope to they make an appearance in the final episodes of Stranger things as Bob's cousins from across the pond. Maybe they can be visiting his grave and of course also get eaten by a demogorgon.
The slosh just brought back memories of the Bay City Rollers. Chicago is in for a treat. Somebody needs to film it for prosperity. I’m sure everyone there will either be dying of laughter or dancing up a storm. Either way, these two are a scream.
The thing with 111 runs is called a Nelson no-one is completely sure where it comes from. I was told as a kid that it came from Nelson having one arm, one eye and one leg but he never lost a leg and though he lost sight in one eye he still had both. There was an umpire who always stood on one leg at that score but it isn't seen much these days.
I still geek out on LOTR now as much as I did when my grandmother read us the novels as children. I love your channel and love hearing and seeing these actors still getting excited about the movie and stories. Plus, their accents are great to listen too! 😅
@@kalocaploc124 really the only other things I've read outside of this that would probably fall into that category are C.S. Lewis novels, and the Tales From the Kingdom are pretty good
