I live about 1 hour south of Fred, also in western Pennsylvania. I am starting into beekeeping in about a month and Fred's videos talking about Flow Hives while I was researching is the reason I purchased a Flow Hive. Fred gives some good information on best techniques dealing with the Flow Hive in a colder climate. Looking forward to trying out my hive soon.

Hello Guys great interview. I found it funny that I had just bought 4 flow hive 2 + base and frames. Two was to replace my bottoms on my classic flow hives and the other two is for regular Langstroth hives. I really like the IMP and bases on the 2+. It real helps me keep an eye on my bees without opening them up to often.
I am a new beekeeper in SW North Dakota. Our bees are scheduled to arrive the beginning of may. I am worried that it will still be too cold. What do you suggest doing in the case that it isn’t around 60° when our bees arrive?
I believe in letting the selective nature of an issue being figured out by nature itself. We only think we know things, in the end things will be solved in ways we will never understand. As much as we think we know, nature will always trump us and find the correct way. I wish Australia could have remained free of Viora but, it wasn't meant to be. In the end everything needs to adapt, it's nature's way, man can't escape that no matter how hard we try.
you should always give the bees 2 supers to live in store honey raise bees, pollen, then you can put your honey box on top of it. I raised bees and did crop pollutions years ago
