the game made me want to read the books, i own every book (except fairytale, i read it tho) but the game. at that time it was the best music and atmosphere

Same! This game got me into Feist's Midkemia books, and into fantasy reading in general. Still my favorite PC RPG of all time. I go back to the soundtrack frequently when I need inspiration for writing.

na, it would be from EA or bethesda and totally ruined with micro transactions and online login

An open world, exploration heavy, skill based system in which you get better as you use skills? That would be Skyrim. Skyrim is literally a modern BaK only it lacks any good writers or ambition to tell a nuanced and epic story. As long as games like Skyrim are made the last thing I ever want to see is a remake of Betrayal at Krondor because that's exactly what it will become.

@@dragoneye6229 boof...good points. Skyrim has the exploration (and combat) nailed-down, but Skyrim's story and characters pale in comparison to BaK. For the same reason books are still beloved despite big-budget CGI films, Betrayal at Krondor will always have a cherished place in my heart despite the fact that there are 100's+ great "modern" games since. Story and character background will always trump graphics and flashy gameplay for me.
