As I young red, I remember this vividly. Wednesday brought great numbers and it was a great game. I think I sobbed on the way home, as defeats back then for Liverpool, were rare. Football back then really was fantastic. !!
I was at this game and can honestly say it’s my favourite away game of all time, first season back in the top flight and iirc beating the European champions. “We said we’d be back, and we are” 🦉👍
What an absolute treat I’ve just stumbled upon! Shame we couldn’t do Everton in that cup semi too (‘SHUTT!!! CARL SHUTT!!!). Same old Wednesday though… not always pretty but did them in their prime, like we used to do Man U in their prime 7/8 years later. Offside goal 😂😂… No penalty for Walsh!! 😂🙈 Loved it in them days!
I was there and it was BLISS! Marwood, Varadi, Shelton, Chapman, Shirtliffe, Lyons all played like LIONS!! THE WHOLE TEAM in fact! Great day out, thoroughly enjoyed myself, IMMENSE!!
Heard there was some bad trouble and a few got stabbed. This was my first season watching owls with my dad.At our ground against Liverpool the crowd was around 50k.I was on kop always remember as I lost my dad in crowd and had to wait in north stand
I was at this game with the Mrs, bought two tickets outside the ground off a tout. They turned out to be restricted view, lol. A great memory was the Kop clapping Wednesday off.
Grobbelaar seemingly giving imre varadi the ball for Sheffield weds goal at anfield in 1984 after Fagan threatened to sack him if he went to play for Zimbabwe after the game springs to mind .. low and behold he didn't go haha
I wouldn't say 5 yards, but yes, he wasn't offside. But neither did the ref give the red card for the foul in the centre circle which lead to the original attack about a minute before.
My dad had started taking me to away games the season before, and I begged him to go to this. He said no cos they’d get murdered like in the cup the previous year. Dickhead. Still haven’t forgiven him.
