We threw away this game with the wrong tactical changes and not taking advantage and pressing liverpool, and some players have to take accountability for their performance.
I honestly don't blame the players too much. This is on eddie. We came out 2nd half looking to contain a 1 nil lead at home against 10 men. Outrageous. Then he decides to sub off all of our top performers on the day and we go on to lose the game
Agreed. I think we looked very vulnerable on our left side as well. We should of contained them easily. Really disappointed by the players and Eddie. I hope we can forget this game. And improve against Brighton.
If there were two players Liverpool needed off the pitch to salvage anything from that game it was Gordon and Tonali and thanks to Eddie that happened.
Mate they had 10 men all game. You couldn’t beat the best goalie in the world, and Liverpool hung on and took you to the cleaners the last 20 mins. Don’t forget liverpool started the game very well, as well.
At the end of the day, you do not take off your best two performing players at 1-0 against a quality side like Liverpool. Lesson learned, let’s move on & stuff Brighton. 🎉

I think Howe had a game plan, and he stuck to it. Rather than react to what was happening in the game, he went with the predetermined plan. And that involved taking off two of our most effective players. I couldn’t believe my eyes when Flash and Tonali came off.

We have the same amount of points this season as we did from these same games last season. Obviously we want to improve, however it isnt the end of the world. A draw next week against a solid brighton team away from home isnt a bad result. Our fans are so quick to go into meltdown. Dont get me wrong, yday was horrendous how we bottled it. Honestly mate, Eddie did drop a bollock. Taking Gordon off was the biggest mistake he could done, yeah we did score any of our chances but he was the main threat. Sean Longstaff brought our tempo down 95% when he came on.
Well not the players who are actually letting you win the game. Tonali and Gordon being taken off was mental. After they left, what we had on the park simply couldn’t deal with the situation. Almiron is wasteful and Bruno was playing poorly without Tonali to protect him.
Newcastle did beat Newcastle- pin point accuracy on this one. It’s a very tough pill to swallow. City and Liverpool are top teams and we need to remember that. It’s just the nature of the defeat to Liverpool. Even a draw would have been hard to take. One goal was never enough. I sat the whole game saying it. Hopefully we can get three points away to Brighton. It always was a tough start to the season.

That was a painful match. Tough loss but exposed the weakness. Like the lack of speed at the back. Chances on goal were sloppy. Boys just looked flat. On a positive though, they prob needed that slap in the face.

We did throw away the win. We have gone back to not being clinical in front of goal. Chances missed cost us. The subs seemed strange, Gordon was our most effective player and Tonali was playing well. Longstaff was not good last game and continued his poor form. Thought Bruno played better and is getting back into form. Hope Botman’s injury isn’t too bad, if it is we need a CB before the window closes.

I tend to agree with you saying it’s the players but your wrong to think it’s not the managers fault, you don’t bring on subs that don’t match players who are already running the show and aren’t injured whilst in play especially when your only 1-0 up against a team like Liverpool that’s why they brought on a gifted player who scored 2 goals and had a much stronger bench then we did.

Players and manager lost this game. Players didn’t make enough of their chances, defence made blunders and manager didn’t quite get it right this time. They have some work to do this week because Brighton next weekend will not be easy. Still 💯 behind the team and Eddie but disappointed and it’s ok to be.
Big disappointment but keep things real. 3 games in, cracking result v Villa, Man City away was toughest game of the season and a narrow defeat. Liverpool game we were the better team, just didn't finish them off and then 2 sucker punches with sloppy play at the end. Plenty of positives- thought Gordon was excellent and will terrorise defences this season and Tonali will only get better as the season goes on.
I like Geordies and most Liverpool fans have a lot of time for them. I was in Newcastle last year and like the old buildings similar to what we have in Liverpool. I think most kopites wish Newcastle well as it’s been far to long for any success. Regarding the game, the sending off was debatable and Howe taking off Gordon was a mistake. Newcastle will be kicking themselves. On another note the scousers and geordies should be drinking together before and after the game.. I mean two down to earth Cities , working class attitudes.. that’s getting rarer these days. I found the Geordies very warm and welcoming when I last visited the City, even a local Council worker I just bumped into on the water front telling me about the History. All good stuff.
I’ve been to SJP dozens of times over the years and never had a problem. Win or lose, the Geordies have always been sound to be fair. As usual, it’s a few mugs from both sides giving both clubs a bad name.

Eddie is to blame though. He picks the players, formation, subs and tactics. No Plan B again. Changing players for the sake of using subs. That made us worse. If we can’t get through and score, at least tighten up and close the doors so we don’t concede. Wide open that last 10 mins. DB at CB is a joke, no pace and Nunez was in easily. Never turned up at City, now this. Brighton next week so will see after that but big lessons to be learned
As much as I I love Eddie, we still have hangovers from the previous owners, Miggy to start with, in a top level premiership game in his position, you'll get a 3-4 chances only in a game, he keeps wasting those chances, he needs 6=10 chances to get a goal, or just the goal on target, to get to the top table, sorry, I do like him but, needs upgrading, Gordan, should have been used more in the game, we kept going right and not left, Trent was scared to go near him, won't commit to foul him, and then we pull him off in the second half, big mistake, Barnes doesn't have the same speed to create a panic foul, Sandro seemed to be the best in midfield to get opening passes up front, taken off, but kept Bruno on, not sure what is going on with Bruno, don't know if its contract renewal, but doesn't seem to be himself at the minute, Dan Burn, big lad, but getting him into the middle of defence, he's just not got the quick turn around speed to react on coming attacks, the game I think was a wake up check, we aren't there yet, as much as it pains me to say.

We were good at times yesterday but not the times that mattered. Pope was very poor for 1st goal, Burn was very poor for 2nd, Miggy made wrong choices time and time again. EH has 3 players for the left wing in Isak, Gordon and Barnes yet he plays Miggy and Burn time and again while swapping the others at will. Last season simplified things for EH bcoz he didn't have the players to tinker. Alverez, Diaby and Maddison look misses now.

Ask any goalkeeping coach about Pope's positioning for the 1st goal he showed far to much of his right side to Darwin and he compounds that mistake by not setting his footwork to get down fast like a low shot into the far corner he fell like a sack of potatoes. He was shakey all game.
