That is bad considering that he interviewing one of the greatest defenders from late 70s and 80s and who is regarded as a legend on and off the pitch. Dean Saunders, Robert Maxwell, just some of the names that drew a blank. Mark should be on LFC TV assessing games or presenting like former players have done.

Yes indeed ive got Keegans autobiography this is mentioned in great detail....and maybe he was too hard on himself as back in the day Lawrenson was lightening but Keegan had such high standards, must have been difficult for KK to come to terms with his declining powers

He was the only commentator who really understood the game. He was calling people out for diving and feigning injury long before it got as bad as it is today. People didn't get his humour and mild sarcasm but then again like Mark I'm from Preston.

Underrated as a player? I was always of the opinion his partnership with Hansen was viewed as best of all time (at least to that point). Can you get higher praise? They were just as good as each other. Where Alan Hansen was better was how calm and collected he was, but Mark and Alan were in a class by themselves back in the day.

What a pair they were, I never saw anyone tackle like Mark Lawrenson, he was as good as Hansen.

Was good with Hansen but it felt like he was phoning it in thereafter and clearly not bothered. Sadly we all get moved irrespective of whether it is fair or not. Seems to be channeling his annoyance by blaming everyone at the Beeb and falling into the tired old stereotype.

They were never quite the same at the back after Mark limped off. And when Hansen retired LFC went thirty years without a league title. Hopefully it's the start of another 30 years of glory.

I agree.. And I know it's ITV and Sky. And not the BBC. But Souness is 70 and is still regularly on. I rate Lawro and Souno about the same.. Same old tired and boring talking points.
