Fun fact - Bruce came out of retirement last year to briefly play for the Matabeleland National Team, the region of Zimbabwe that he is from, at the CONIFA World Cup in London. Obviously doesn't quite have the agility at 60, but it was still some sight to behold seeing a cult Hero of the game like Brucey playing in an International Tournament.

I remember an interview post -Hillsborough in which Bruce recalls the experience. It send a chill down my spine when he said _.....I turned around and saw the fans being crushed, and they asked me, Bruce, could you help us_ It showed the humane side of Bruce, and the bond he had with the fans. Replacing Ray Clemance was never going to be easy but Bruce held his own. Lots of love Bruce, stay strong.

One thing that I personally remember about Bruce was the way he would regularly applaud the opposing goalkeeper when they made a good save. Playing at Leeds one day he got injured and went off to a standing ovation from the whole the Elland Road crowd who appreciated the way he played the game and they way his character shone through.

Before watching the Video, I am from Zimbabwe and in my country, this guy is a legend often being spoken alongside names such as Peter Ndlovu, Benjani Mwaruwaru and so forth. He is one of the few players who gives Zimbabweans hope of a chance in the premier league. A real legend in my view. In times like this when my country is struggling, football becomes the one thing we can rely on. (edit) He joined Highlanders for livestock XDDDDDD......... The thing is I am a highlanders fan and it's so funny that the best keep in Zimbabwean history was brought to my team for a months worth of food. Also, Zimbabwe is known for flamboyant keepers, Tapiwa Kapini comes to mind..

The graphics/animations for these videos are usually spot on... but you missed the 'E' off the end of Crewe! Also, no mention of his time at Plymouth Argyle *(the largest city in the country never to have had a top flight football team... who are the most westerly and the most southernly situated club in the country)*…? They don't get a lot of attention, you know…! They could do with a name check! Keep up the good work!

I was at the dell for Bruce's Southampton debut against Blackburn. He was brought to Saints by Alan Ball...a player, as you say, hr played with...I also don't think it's a coincidence he was dropped like a stone when Graeme Souness took over.

I had the honour of watching Bruce play for Durban City F.C. against Swaraj and Bluebells United at the Lenasia Stadium, an Indian suburb outside Johannesburg. He is undoubtedly Liverpool's greatest goalkeeper. Thanks for a factually accurate video. It is about time that someone mentions Bruce's contribution to the Liverpool success story of the 1980's. How about doing videos on Albert Johanneson of Leeds United, Colin Viljoen of Ipswich Town and Gary Bailey of Manchester United.

This is significant, because instead of playing in the European Cup in 1991, they had to wait an extra year so the likes of Barnes, Houghton, Beardsley, McMahon, Staunton who all came in after 1985 never got to play in the European Cup. Liverpool declined and ended up in the UEFA cup in 1992 after finishing 2nd in the league in 1991.
