This is one of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Thanks very much for providing. I was able to stream to RU-vid using my tablet attached to my RC-N1 controller. I had first tried it using my smartphone (Android) attached to the controller but couldn't get it to work. So, when I tried it in the field, I had no internet, so I used my phone tethered to the tablet to get the internet. That worked but the video was of low quality. I am planning to try to live streaming to Facebook using Restream as you detailed in this tutorial. Thanks again.
Thank you for the helpful video. I end up figuring this all out by myself last january. The only thing I ended up doing differently was installing the Facebook app onto the RC Pro. This allowed me to use Facebook Messenger to copy and paste the stream key. I found that easier than a text file
So concise and clear! Now I know there's something the cheaper "RC N1" (using handphone screen) can do and not the more expensive RC (with built in screen). Thank you!! :D

Thanks Jim. This was a hard one. Lots of research. Lots of editing. I have two other scripts in the works. I started one on logging. Interrupted that one to do a quickie request on live-streaming to Facebook… when I got the request, I did a test on the smart controller direct to Facebook and it worked. So I thought heck, just need to modify the RU-vid script a little and bang it out in a week. Then I discovered it only worked on the Smart Controller. Ugh. Anyway, it has been a while since posting. Thanks for hanging in there. I assume you got the Mavic 3 Classic. Fun! I love flying the M3 Cine. I’m intrigued by the M3 Enterprise. And now another M3… the Multispectral which I hear has an API out. Jeez. Hard to keep up. Enjoy!
@@middleloopvideo No...Not the Classic.....bought the original Mavic 3. Just couldn't pass up the price I found it for on ebay. 1600.00 plus an extra battery and the RCN1 and all cables. It only had 22 minuets of flight on it. I will be using the RC Pro I have. Now deciding what computer to get to edit video properly. my 10 yr old stuff just isn't cutting it working with h.264 and h.265. Been looking at the 16 Macbook Pro with the M1 Max chip. Been a windows user all my life. I guess it's time for a change. Where does it all stop just being a hobby.....LOL
I started using the 16-inch Macbook Pro with the M1 Max chip, 64 gig ram, 2 TB ssd one year ago. Big difference from my Intel Xeon (E5-1660 v3 @ 3 GHz) PC also 64 gig ram and SSD for editing. I wish I had gone with a bigger SSD... 2 TB enough for several videos but do have to practice moving off completed videos sooner than expected. I tried moving to Mac from PC many years ago and finally gave up after having to look up everything... even simple things. But, made the leap back when the M1 chips came out to improve editing/rendering. I am much better now with the OS stuff now... Another perk is the Thunderbolt USB ports... really fast!
The best is to have a controller with an HDMI output that you can connect to capture card or video switcher and that will be simple as that. No need for apps and third parties streaming protol tools.
Yes. Assuming the controller has an HDMI port. The RC Pro does but a lot do not. The RC pro also lets you choose what is sent to the HDMI port. You can send the controller screen with all the info or just the feed from the drone. However, many controllers with an HDMI port don’t give you an option The other challenge with a capture card is it needs to be plugged into something. Like a computer to connect to the internet. I’ve actually considered doing a video on this technique and may still someday. But, it gets complicated.

Great video! Very well organized and laid out. Question: what if you want to broadcast to RU-vid and Facebook simultaneously? Do you still use the Restream, and if so, what do you put in the RTMP field?
Yes. Restream is a multistream service. The free / basic plan lets you feed to up to 2 streaming services simultaneously like Facebook and RU-vid. A paid plan lets you stream to more simultaneously. You would setup your drone controller as described in this video. Point the RTMP url/key to Restream. Then in Restream you would setup 2 channels. Good luck 🍀
@middleloopvideo thank you! After I thought about it I realized the data I put in the RTMP field is from Restream so however that is set up, that's where it will stream to. I tired it this morning and it worked great. I was hoping it would stream my DJI screen instead of from my camera though.
I don’t have my drone with me. I know the RC pro has a setting to switch between drone feed and screen. But, that may just for the HDMI port. In which case you could use an HDMI capture card to plug it into a computer via usb. Then use something like OBS on the computer to stream to Restream.
@@middleloopvideo Unfortunately third party apps cannot be installed on the RC v2 as there is still no way to get to a "home" screen, as you can on the RC Pro. But at least RTMP is available. It may have been that the processor of the RC v1 was simply just too underpowered to allow RTMP to work, hence why it wasn't available as an option on that 1st version controller.
Thanks for the tutorial. I have the Mavic 3 Classic with the DJI RC Controller, and I'm very disappointed with DJI for removing the Live Streaming feature from the DJI RC Controller. I'll probably sell those and buy a cheaper setup with and older controller full of features DJI doesn't want you to have nowadays.
Do you have an RC-N1 controller from another drone? If, so you could try pairing it to the M3 classic. Although, DJI might just have that drone locked down leaving some incentive for the higher end product.

Excellent! When doing the research it was difficult to change who could see it. I needed to get help from Restream support. But, another viewer told me it was easier now. So, I’m not sure. Maybe I need to figure it out and do another video. Thanks for reaching out.
Hoping someone sees this, trying with DJI Go 4 app to connect the Mavic Pro 2 with no success. seems like everything is copied correctly :/ it trys to connect and nothing pops up on restream
Hello. Streaming to Facebook from DJI Go 4 can be done without Restream. Have you seen our video on that (Livestream Direct to Facebook from the Smart Controller using the DJI GO 4 app ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lg9XXUeV5gk.html ). But Restream should work too. Usual culprit is getting the key and url right. Have you tried the copy/paste method described? If that doesn’t work, try Restream support. I’ve found them very helpful.
did a live stream with my mini 3 pro other day 😄 was brilliant. thanks for help. Couldnt live stream from my drone page just my personal page. you need to pay for that option. otherwise it went really well. there was a roughly 10 seconds delay which is to be expected. i used the old N1 controller 😄

Hi I appreciate this video and I learned from it a yr ago and it worked great . I am trying to follow again and live stream to FB with Mavic2 pro . When it prompts to connect to FB , I get a message saying you previously connected with Restream and keeps cycling back over and over I can not connect . Is this restream presently working as of 9/5/24 ? Has anyone had success connecting to FB recently? Appreciate any advice
Hello. I haven’t tried to stream to Facebook in a while. I did stream to instagram via Restream recently though. I did get one report of someone having difficulty. They, like you, had let it sit for a while. I suggested they contact Restream support which is usually pretty good. I haven’t heard back. I suspect their Facebook credentials expired. One thing to check is after starting the stream, look at Restream to see if you are seeing it there. If so, what does it say on the Facebook output channel… there should be a status shown.
Will this work with the mobile 6 gimbal? And if it does do I need to log in to restream every time I want to shoot a live video? And lastly, do I need a computer to be able to do this?
Since today is September 2023, is there a way to transmit on Facebook without restream? for example dji mini 2 to obs, vmix to facebook, without using the same network. For example, me on the beach streaming without the need for a PC. I mean, it would be broadcasting on Facebook without third parties. thank you
To my knowledge, Fly app still uses RTMPS and is not compatible with Facebook without converting it to RTMP first. Can you run OBS without a computer? If so, I don’t think the drone output will be available as an input. Anyway, that’s the beauty of a service like Restream. You set it up and it sits waiting for the RTMP signal from the drone.

So i did exactly the process in video and when i hit “Go Live” i get the countdown yo “0” then message appears that it couldn’t go live! Mavic 3 Pro with Pro Controller.
I assume you’re testing at home. Try with Restream open on the computer and see if it is talking to it. Check the Restream logs. 99% of problems occur with the URL not being right. Even if it looks right, I’ve found the cut/paste method to work better.
Hi, super video. I have a question, if I use the Restream to get a URL and Stream Key for facebook then if I want to live stream at RU-vid should I just add the RU-vid to the Restream Dashboard as a channel? Using the RC N1 with my Air 2S and once there is an URL and Stream Key entered then , as I understand it, each service has it's own and so it seems that if Restream (basic) can do two channels, it is better to use it and forget using the RU-vid Live streaming (dashboard) unless one wants to put in a new URL and Stream Key in for RU-vid and then again when you want to go back to live on Facebook. Have watch both of your videos and find them very informative and have subscribed here. Thanks PS. if some reader here can advise, I'm all ears.
I’m not sure I understand the question. Restream will handle Facebook. The url/key you get are to Restream. In other words, you are streaming to Restream. It’s not a Facebook url and key. But, assuming you get it working, then, yes, adding the RU-vid Live channel will then stream to both simultaneously. I hope this helps clarify it.

While RU-vid is more interesting for me, I can see the possibility of streaming to Facebook, all thou I'm not a big user nor fan of Facebook. Think I kind of answered my own question, in that I see that at Restream's Dashboard, one can toggle channels off and an. My question was about having to go back into the controller to change the url and stream key. Restream seems to be somewhat unstable. Got it working for a couple of minutes on Facebook then it broke down an kept giving an streaming error message. Anyway, thanks for your time.
@@skeeterstube Hello. If you don’t want to stream to Facebook, then you really don’t need Restream. But, if you want to use Restream… I didn’t have reliability issues. I have not tried specifically using Restream. However, Restream just “rebroadcasts” the livestream that it’s sent. So, yes. It should be possible. The question is, can OBS take a stream as an input. Possibly. But I don’t know. You can, depending on the controller, take hdmi out, into an hdmi to usb converter, into a pc. It should be available as a camera on OBS.
Okay. Well, sorry. I had pretty good experiences with Restream. They do provide a lot of data regarding the stream that might help you diagnose. I also had a pretty good experience with Restream's support/chat. Good luck!
Unfortunately, no video. We don’t have that controller. But, that controller uses your cell phone for the Fly app, right? Can you email the url and key to yourself? Then copy/paste from there?
I was able to live stream to Facebook with me being the only viewer for a test. I got it working and would like to expand to allow more viewers to watch the live stream. I cannot figure it out and the chat/help desk didn't help too much.
Yeah. Changing it is not intuitive. You can’t just delete it and re-enter. It remembers the old settings. I needed Restream support to walk me through it. Maybe you got a rookie. We’ve used several… mostly the RC Pro. We covered others in the other livestream videos we’ve done. The one that doesn’t seem to work is the DJI RC. Good luck 🍀👍

Hi, Changing the option to “everyone” is a little involved. You can’t just delete the old one and re-enter. It remembers the previous settings. I don’t remember exactly how I did it but Restream’s online support (chat) was very helpful. However, it’s probably not the reason you can’t go live. It just controls who can see it when you do. Restream support might be helpful to fix your issue going live. Mine only says online after I have started streaming. You’ll notice at around the 6:40 mark in the video, it says offline too. Working on it now. A week or two? FYI... it only applies to the Original Smart controller. It will be very similar to the video we did on Livestream to RU-vid... you could probably watch that one and figure it out. Good luck.
Quick update... In researching we found that livestreaming direct is only compatible with the DJI Go 4 app on the Smart Controller... So, the video we are working on will only apply to drones that use that app, like the Mavic 2 pro/zoom.

Yeah. Good question. As we mentioned in the tutorial, Restream doesn’t provide a way to make the changes. Also, deleting and recreating it doesn’t work because it remembers the previous setting. I had to contact Restream support and they walked me through the steps to manually delete the old files. It was some time ago and I don’t remember all the steps. Please reach out to Restream support. I found them to be very helpful.
@@middleloopvideo I was provided a solution by restream CS. The way to do it is to go to FB settings, scroll down to business integration and then select restream and toggle business integration visibility and post audience. That should be it.
If I used wrong url or wrong Key it wont work og the Restream side. But it did work there. But it did not work on Facebook and RU-vid. So the problem is between Restream and FB/YT
Yes. That's correct. Restream should be logging in as you to FB/YT and setting up a Live Stream... are you seeing any evidence that a Live Stream was set up? If no, I'm guessing your credentials to FB/YT aren't quite right. Or maybe you have dual factor turned on and it needs further authentication??? If problems continue, I've found Restream Online support / chat was very helpful. Give them a try.
We should be able to livestream with out restream its ovious you are promoting restream and not giving a true solution , DJI offers to put a RTMP in the fly app!! Can you find a honest solution so far it does not work and think DJI is blocking the function!!!
@@middleloopvideo the normal RC doesn't do very much apart from being convenient. I've gone back to using the N1 so I can stream n use third party apps to practice mapping n modelling
