The only time I cried was when I read the Subtle Knife by Phillip Pullman (second part of his Dark Materials trilogy).....spoiler don't read on if you don't want to know............ but when the kid had to fight a man for the Subtle Knife (and he knew it was his destiny to fight and kill for the knife)...he actually had to fight his father who left his family to protect the knife and being able to cut and travel into other dimensions....
