I am still getting so much from your videos and that is because I lived so many of my years in the dead (for me) spaces that you spoke about while n that comfy, white robe. When I turned 50, was when I started living life as you are. So spiritually, we are the same age. ROFL! I can't wait to see you in the East Coast Element! I am so glad the Universe brought me to your channel and I am so happy that you will be surrounded by love, support and your wonderful mother. Hearing her speak in your last video motivated me to remember who I am.

I lived in LA for 3 years and I remember being sad as well. People may not want to hear this, but the black men really don’t date darkskin women in LA. I thought it was all in my head until I met other darkskin women who experienced the same thing. Black men in Cali prefer mixed women, whyte women or light light skin women. Moving from LA was the best decision I could have made. It was so expensive and now that I moved, I am able to save so much money, paid off my car and was able to purchase my first home…I am actually on my 2nd home with my husband (his first home).
I related soooo much to your talk about leaving LA! I also moved out of nyc & miss my friends & family. I think moving away from our hometown & into this isolation phase of our life definitely was needed for growth. I moved to LA around your age and I literally had the same dark moments. Something about being isolated in such a big place brings you to a point of breaking and if you get out if you can literally do anything! Life gets so much sweeter in your 30s. ❤️
Don't confuse independency with masculine energy. When you are used to living alone and being self-sufficient certain things become a norm. The right guy won't feel threatened because he recognizes your strength. Yes, you would like a partner and men like to feel wanted, but independency in a woman while wanting a strong man by her side is HEALTHY. Don't lose yourself by trying to dim down when dating. I still live in NY but I’m a freshman in college about to be a sophomore and the first semester I felt so isolated but once I started communicating with my friends and family more and trying to built up my social skills more even though I’m still an introvert and I always will be but it was out of my comfort zone but I said I’m going to do it and I did and I don’t regret it but I’ll be home in two weeks I can’t wait I miss being in the city so bad.

What you’re doing is exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. It’s what your twenties are all about. You’re moving away from defining yourself based on your family and friends and toward defining and discovering who you are for yourself. Childhood friendships are going to seem “different” and some not be as close as you get older. It’s ok. They’re supposed to. You’re supposed to be putting your head down and working like a dog to get yourself established. Nothing wrong with it, Nobody is going to do it for you so you have to. I remember constantly worrying in my 20s about am I being a good daughter, wife, sister, friend, etc and at some point I just had to let that go. The irony is the people in your life, especially the ones who are older, understand because they’re been there already and know that’s exactly how it should be. Give yourself grace. The same grace you would give your best friend. You are you best friend. You have to learn to love your own company because you’re going to be in it most of your life. The worst thing about your 20s is going through it and constantly being unsure if you’re doing it right and still being concerned about what others might think about you. Trust me, you’re going to shed that soon too. Later looking back you will see that it was all in the plan to get you where you are going to be later. Trust it. You got this. ❤
You carry yourself with you every day. If you need or want to move and be closer to family or whoever Do IT!! Going through things on your own is so much harder. If you have the support system lean on them!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. But know, that we’ve all been there, and some are still pushing their way through it. But the only way OUT is THROUGH. I don’t know if you are a believer of our creator, but you are here for a reason and God has a plan for your life. He has you where He wants you as of right now, please take this time to grow closer into Him. He is waiting with open arms for you to give all of your pain to Him. I’m encouraging you to TRY HIM. When you have nothing else, you still have Him. When you learn about Him, you learn about YOURSELF. And that’s one of the best things because when you don’t know who you are, anybody can tell you who you are. You become susceptible to mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional abuse.

As for our weather here in L.A., we also have some years of flukes in weather like about anywhere else. But, overall, it's consistently very good. I've been here for almost 60 years. Before moving to L.A. County, the weather was much more moody when we lived a two and a half hour drive north of here back when I was very young in elementary school. For me, I'll stay here in whatever weather flukes we might get rather than live other places here within the U.S. Today, the weather is gorgeous and 80 degrees. Plus, this is a good location to be as I look at the West Coast being in the middle of the U.S. as I count Hawaii and Alaska. I get really cheap flights to both Hawaii and also to places in Asia. As for one missing one's family and friends, I can understand why folks might leave a place to move back to be closer to them. That can happen with folks living in a lot of places including overseas locations. My best male friend, a few years younger than I am, is from N.J./N.Y., but had had enough of it and in 2020 left and couldn't be happier. His plan was to move here, as he both lived here for a while in the late 1980s and also regularly vacationed here in more recent years. He ended up deciding on the west coast of Florida as it's a shorter commute for him to get to his two adult, NY kids and other family members. But, he's still contemplating also getting a place here in L.A. One needs to be where the vibe suits one best. I've been to the East Coast and other U.S. places a lot, but they were not my vibes at all. I vibe more with either being here or being in overseas places than a lot of the U.S. places that I've been to. I was living on my own in Europe first at age 17/18. Greetings from Los Angeles
I’m in La and I keep contemplating NYC but every time I talk to ppl from there or that has lived there they remind me of the long winter of not doin much. And that makes me depressed….just like the weather we’ve had in la this winter and thats nothing compared to the east coast
GIRL. NYC Winters are brutal, however, with your tribe and your community there and so close knit to you it honestly makes it all ok. Plus when it snows/rains in NYC it's like a collective mood we're all in lol. it's not just you feeling all moody 🤣. but this LA weather has been depressing because no one asked for this!!

Omg I can relate to EVERYTHING you said about wanting to move from LA. I’m also from NY and I moved to Houston thinking that it will give us a breathe of fresh air and a chance to build a life on our own without or families being our business etc. It was a cool for a while, but best believe we’re wanting to move back (probably not NY cause it’s just way to expensive so probably NJ) because the culture and the energy can’t match what NY gave. I miss the city, the vibe, the food literally everything. I admire you for being so transparent on this platform and for us to be in similar stages in life, it’s good to know that I’m not alone and I’m not the only one who goes through things like this. I totally relate to alllll of what you're saying!! I miss New York so much and truly believe that no other city can provide what NY can. BUT, the housing market is so terrible right now and rent in NY is INSANE. to the point where I'm coming from LA (one of the most expensive cities in the country) and can't even find something decent in Brooklyn under $2600. it's awful! i say all that to say, you know in your heart where the energy feels best for you and i think you should do everything you can to get as close to that place as possible. you're definitely not going through this alone. i'm literally in the process of applying for apartments to get back. i know once we get back to where we feel we truly belong, it's only up from there sis!! rooting for you and sending you big, big hugs! 💗 p.s, we can for sure be internet bestiesssss lol

So I am kind of new here, I found you on instagram [I happened to literally dm you while watching this lol]. I am from new york and have been here almost 4 years and everything you've said I've felt. I literally posted a video about it last week, oddly enough. But I feel everything you are going through. The things you want in your life change as you enter new phases and environments, especially ones that don't celebrate who you are. It's been a tough time, but after my last visit home, it was clear that I don't belong here. I am moving back at the end of the year. I am in my late 30's and this is not the life I want for myself. Was that the lavender alcoholic drink? It’s good too. Try the shrimp and grits. It’s delicious! It’s a bit noisy though 😳. The last time I went I wanted to dine on the rooftop, however, wasn’t available. Did you go to the Alley afterwards? One of those Fenty was almost out for me too. i really wished that i fell in love with LA, but i just didn't. it truly is a beautiful city! i also loveeee Ramen! my fave ramen spot here is Tatsu! Have you tried them before? The drink i got was the Rose Mojito. The lip color was Fenty MVP in their Velvet Icon Lipstick :)

I have watched this twice now and nodded my headed so much when you were talking about being so work-focused and independent. I have recently realized I am hyper-independent and that is why no one checks in on me. It is so hard to recognize when you are in your own way. Congrats to you for being honest about asking for help and presence from people in your life and your family because that is so hard!
