Ughh, the way that child of immigrants chat resonates with me and how helping your immigrant parents can be so triggering sometimes… Loved this vlog and also feeling very torn and conflicted about the state of the world and the events in Gaza, Sudan and RDC too, among other terrible things and continue to deal with everyday life.. but we do have to keep on living in order not to burn out, like you said. As a child of immigrant parents i totally feel your struggle. However my dad is thriving as he's a doctor. My mom however worries me and focus is more on her.
It takes practise not gonna lie! But I try to reframe it as "who could I possibly meet if I go?" and treat it as an opportunity for the universe to show me new connections, events, people etc!! I also always show up and immediately go to the bathroom which lets me kinda suss out the space, then make sure I look good, and then I go back out and get a beverage/circle and compliment someone! That usually sets me up for success pretty well! x
