I just started living alone again after living in shared space for over a decade. I've only had short periods of living alone but I really do love it. Sometimes the home care stuff gets overwhelming for me and I have to remind myself it is okay if dishes sit for one night, or the bed doesn't get made right away. Also we share the same birthday! I really enjoy your videos and your approach to personal sustainability.
My kitten helped me so much getting over the death of the love of my life - it sounds cliche but having a furry little flatmate is outrageously wonderful
You give me so much hope! I am about to end a 13 years relationship, I know him for half my life and am so scared to hurt him and how it's going to be living alone. Wish me luck! 🤞 Btw the Blazer is bomb!
I got Raspberry Jam from a small bakery in a village next to Odense. It was so good that I bought multiple bottles. When we visit the in laws again this year I will also do so. When I moved cross country in the USA I donated the glass bottles I'd been reusing to a small business in my town that makes candles in glass jars.
I would love a video on your thoughts on food delivery services/boxes. They claim to be more environmentally friendly and cost effective then grocery stores.
I have never used them, because a) I lose control over which packaging I use and b) I like to jam when cooking and sticking to a simple recipe every night is very far from how I cook 😅 in some cases, for some people they might be more sustainable than grocery shopping, but they are not a good option for everyone ☺️🌿
My mum has used one for two weeks, and she said the amount of packaging was insane. Like you get 1g of turmeric powder in a small plastic bag. Plus the cost was a lot higher per serving than grocery shopping. They might be good for a very select population, but I think their claims of sustainability and cost effectiveness are pretty empty marketing claims.
@Pro Home Cooks have just made a video about this. They show the content, the price and compare what you can do with or without the service. Great video.
You are always in charge of your own happiness! Celebrate your birthday! No one should have to do that for you! Celebrate for the month! Your worth it 😍 Big hair is beautiful 😍 this is what I say to myself every day 🥰
I adore you. You are so genuine, warm and hilarious. I have been a lover of your videos and everything you stand for over the years. So grateful for your existence ❤
i just love how excited you are about everything, makes me smile too!! about the flowers; my mom once told me that they are gonna stay fresh for a longer time if you cute them at an angle at the bottom🌸
"The house is resetting - so am I" =) beautifully put! ❤️ I know how it feels when something so long-term and familiar ends. I feel you and I love how you're tackling it! 🤗 Big hug.
I’m currently getting divorced after 24 years so will be getting my own place soon so I’m looking for inspiration for my soon to be simpler life ❤❤ Binge watching your videos and others for inspiration ❤❤
I love your authenticity. You make part of my entourage to help me stand stronger for what I believe in and see right for me. Thank you so much Ps: you make me feel it's okay that I didn't make my first million dollars before 25 years old from e-commerce. It's so frustrating to always be pushed to live to become financially very Vavavoom, buy expensive things, and go to the most sophisticated places. I appreciate you
I love how Gittemarry always makes her meals. Mine usually consist of just a vegimeat sandwich of some sorts. I did make some vegetarian chili the other day though.
I am so looking forward to this new series :) I'm single (very happily so, in my 41 years of life I've been in a relationship for around 4 months 13 years ago :P) and it's lovely to see both the unique and similar joys/difficulties experienced by other people in the same situation and how they respond to them; I so appreciate the authenticity in your content. Your thrift finds are gorgeous. When I was about 30, I watched a documentary on TV that was based in south east Asia, where a load of mid-teen girls were interviewed about relationships/marriage and several declared that once someone had reached their early 20s (as I recall) they were "past it" and likely unmarryable :D I thought it was complete madness but celebrated my birthday that year with a "past it party" where everyone had to dress up in historic attire. I dressed up as a 70 year old and there are some wonderful photos of me floating around :D I don't organise my own birthday every year... I'm an extreme introvert and my extroverted friends organising a day out for me would be guaranteed overwhelm and exhaustion :D Last year I had 3 days in a row of birthday dinners... a quiet friend invited me to join her family for dinner one night, then my parents invited me to their place (just us and my youngest sister, not the whole family), and the single girls from my unit complex (there are 36 units in my complex, some of us single girls have become friends) got together for a combined birthday at the local tavern.
In my late sixties and living alone for many years. I loved this video, and I’m loving all your work about climate damaging “sh*t” from fast clothes industries! I’ve long thought it was a bad thing to throw away cheap clothes so you can buy more cheap clothes. H&M is like Clothes-Cocaine for addicts! It seems to feed addictions in people and the junk food industry is the same. Well done Gittamary, for all your hard work. Also I love your voice - it’s soothing and full of amusement too, especially when you did the little dance. I was in my kitchen sorting out my cupboards for yet another move, and I joined in! Just a reminder to people that all nuts and seeds really should be kept in the fridge unless you eat them within a week or so, because the beneficial oils will go rancid if left out at room temperature. I love all the glass jars for storage, but could you make room in your fridge for the jar with walnuts or seeds in. I’m looking after your health too! ❤ 😂😂😂
You’re stamping your personality on the flat already Gittemary! I love the way you style your rooms...you have a good eye for that. The gallery wall idea is a genius use of your long hall. That little micro green garden system👌. Please continue your mental health series; it’s very relatable. Also, happy birthday Lovely, you are an amazing person who deserves birthday celebrations 😍 Kudos to you cycling between the house and the flat with your heavy gear and then climbing up 4 flights!
low key terrified that some time you'll forget to blur out your tom of finland poster ... that would be hilarious and also a crying shame if you got demonetised! (I realise this comment adds no value to you, I just wanted to share how my anxiety will find new excuses to manifest itself. am I alone in this?) keep up the great work Gittemarie!
It's such a great episode 👏 I can't wait to watch the next episodes 😍 I've been living alone since July 2018, and I still have a lot to learn about myself and living alone.
So great to see you thriving and feeling comfortable/safe in your new home! ❤ What a bonus that both your friends and local market are so close by! 😊 I have a friendly suggestion for the piece of artwork you put on display- the best way to honor and enjoy a small piece like that is to hang it at eye-level; you’ll be able to enjoy its delicate intricacies to the fullest because it won’t be shadowed by the ceiling nor too far from your view. Would also make sure to choose an area that isn’t exposed to direct sunlight if you think it could cause any degradation or bleaching to the artwork (I know you didn’t put it in direct sunlight now, but just wanted to point it out as another good thing to note). 😊
The mother of my youngest children and I have broken up a couple of months ago. I am still waiting for her to move out. I have been bounced around too much to deal with moving again myself. She started dating the same week as our break up, and they are already broken up. I look forward to watching this series.
Just ran across your channel and as I unexpectedly found myself living alone 10 years ago after a 30 plus year marriage your video struck a chord with me. It also reminded me how far I’ve come and how certain things that once bothered me(eating alone for one) no longer are an issue. Embrace the freedom and yes, turn on music and dance!!(salsa music is my favorite when cleaning house)❤
"Might as well prevent a haunting" lol love it, but so true. Thank you for sharing this chapter of your life with us! Also, I love all of the clothes you thrifted, especially the blue blazer! 💙
Hi Gittemary! Thank you so much for this video. I was kind of feeling down lately, but I love the reminder to choose to do things that make you happy! Also, I love the tan 80’s sweater, it looks beautiful on you! ❤
I am new on your chanel, I discovered it because you made a video in Helsinki. I will go there in june and was looking for a Video about vegan food in Helsinki. You are such a lovely person, I just had to follow you! Now I am looking forward to watching many videos from you 💚
As a woman in my late 20s living on my own, I love this sooooo much. The vibing doing makeup, wearing sunglasses while eating in doors, the try-on haul…it’s all beautiful, soulful chaos.
I so get you about your laundry. Having a working laundry machine is exciting. Last summer I moved to my own flat and was so excited to get a second hand washing machine. However, unfortunately it broke down at the end of October. A family friend who kindly offered to sort the machine out unfortunately fell down the stairs. So I didn't have a washing machine for roughly a month and had to drive 40 minutes every Saturday to my parents' place to wash my clothes (with the benefit to spend some time with my parents and get a nice meal). I was very excited to get a new machine.
Love these series!! And I feel the same way around my birthday, but I do the opposity which is under cellebrate, I just plan something with my husband and then my friends always end up asking to do something together. In my case I don't have a group of friends, just some very good friends that I get together 1:1 so I don't feel confortable getting everyone on the same place...but I loved your idea. Hope to see more of the mental health series, really relatable!
You go girl! ❤ BTW little fun fact: the brown plate you have is from old ceramics company Pruszków from Poland, this one is from 60s, so nice thrift find!
The house scent thing - It's probably always had that aroma, but now you're spending more time away from it you're noticing it more, like if you go on a long trip!
Thank you for sharing your challenges and being so open about the mental health aspect. Reminded me a bit about your video on travelling alone. Take good care 🌷☀️.
On my birthday I planned for me and my son to go to our states Zoo. He absolutely loved it! No one had ever planned anything for my birthday. I was tired of spending it at home.
I'm so happy to see you happy 🥰 I don't know, just have this strange feeling as if we were close friends even though you have no idea who I am 🤣 Can someone relate? You are such a bright and kind person, love your videos 💚💓
Hej Gittemary😊 jeg ser dig nu et stykke tid, flytted fra DK 12 år siden, og der er så dejligt at se dine uploads, ikke nok at de er super interessante, men bliver total sentimental og homesick (på en god måde)❤😊😅
You are so happy and enthusiastic about everything, despite a break up and having to leave your house. You do give me a lift! Thank you. I have recently moved twice in just over a year. Living with a friend and looking for orooerty. So difficult on your own , I know, but like you, I have some lovely friends. I look forward to your videos of your new life in your new apartment etc. 😘❤️ x
heck yeah let’s celebrate some laundry lol! glad to see that you’re getting situated in your new home! love the new series, can’t wait for the next one!
Cheers to u my dear! Younare so full of energy and heading towards a positive ojtlook inspite of the trials you have faced - truly an inspiration to me. Your haul was fablous and you look, super gorgeous in all the clothes you chose. Continue to do what you do and have a wonderful new life. Looking forwad to your next.
I am going to Germany next month and one of the things I am most excited about it shopping at the second hand shops to find some nice items I can take home with me!
It would be so cool to have like an angled frame with some artwork inside it for that wall with the corner but I don't know if there would be such a piece 😂
I love your positivity & honesty! I'm the same about my birthday, totally going to chat to my friends about how anxious I feel next time. Celebrating laundry 😅 same! The past 'teen girl' me is questioning my sense of fun, but that's okay because I have responsibilities now.
I really liked your energy in the video :) Great finds from the vintage shop!! The sweater is divine! Also love the red dress you're wearing later in the video :)
I am entering a phase of self discovery and it’s super fun/inspiring to see you just plain old enjoying your own company! Can’t wait to see how your journey progresses. Also, LOVE the sweater you got 😍 it’s a whole vibe and you are living it! Same to the blazer ❤
You got a new electric bike? I asked about that a little while ago in the video where your Mum was driving you and you said they were too expensive...but I know circumstances/income can change of course. Love your hair wild and free, your natural curls are beautiful. I'm the opposite about my birthday; I always just treat it as another day. My partner is the same.
You are correct! Raspberry jam is the superior jam. Are there other good ones? Sure, some things call for apple or cloudberry, but raspberry is always superior. btw. visited Copenhagen for the first time this January. 6h stop on my way back home on my first ever interrail trip and I think everyone considering visiting Paris should instead try "Köpis". So cute, small enough to walk around the center in a short time, heaps of vegan places to choose from, cool library and vintage shops. Paris has it's good sides ofcourse, the catacombs are amazing, but it's just not my vibe and finding vegan or vegetarian stuff is almost impossible still in this day and age! Anyway, just wanted to say that first time visiting Denmark was a joy, and I hope I'll get the chance for a longer visit some day. Wishing you bright days in this new chapter of your life! Having friends who one can be open about their needs with is priceless, it's wonderful to hear that you have a support network easing the transition to living by your own rules. I'm extremely happy living alone, but eating and cooking alone was the hardest to get used to.
I love your videos, they are so uplifting! I also thought that it was just me who felt like that on their birthday, so it is nice to know that's not the case 🙈. Hope you enjoyed your celebrations and I am looking forward to more videos 😊
I think using more the vertical space in the cabinet for the dishes would work better. Maybe with mug holders or different heights for dishes. Glad to see I am not the only one thinking the same about its birthday. Once I received just two whatsapps and a phone call. It was devastating specially when you are always caring for others. Since then I just spend time in equal relationships. If you never reach or offer help when I often do you are out. Btw amazing blazer 😍😍
I just got out of 10 year relationship and we bought a house together as well. Im okay with being alone but I miss the house and garden. Im wondering if you had to work through similiar feelings?
I don't live alone but my boyfriend is on a trip and while I love the few weeks of peace and quiet, but why is it so cold? I always used him to heat up and now I'm in bed with FIVE blankets and I'm FREEZING😩 I need my (unvolunteering) heater back:(
Being freshly out of a long, cohabiting relationship and now transitioning into living alone-ish...this is both topical and probably too fresh for me 😬
If we weren't in different countries (Hi from the southeast US!), I'd beg to thrift you. You somehow find the coolest stuff, and I always find bumpkis.
Its funny how a perfectly nice house can have a really odd feel to it,or the wrong vibe. And another place will chime with your inner being and feel homely straight away.
Staying with my in laws in Denmark they live in a rented home just outside a small village near Odense, they share the land with the owner who also has a house on it. Like a little compound. I noticed people often lived in flats or small homes with flats attached to them. I learned that was really normal in Denmark. I want to live in Denmark so badly, but since they are expats just being married to their son is not enough. But that month we spent with them, that was the happiest I've ever been.
