Living alone while living with Parkinson’s can be a blessing or a curse. Some people love their independence and love being able to direct their days all on their own. For some, not having a live-in care partner, family member, or roommate is lonely and a hardship.
During this webinar, we talked to five people, Michael Fitts, Allyson Kinney, Michael Fahning, Gerrie Blavat, and Brian Reedy, who are living alone with Parkinson’s, some by choice and others not. They shared their stories and offered ideas and advice on how to live alone and well with Parkinson’s.

Thank you for sharing this conversation . Everybody is so sympatic and humorous and it is interesting to hear how every single of you lives with PD. I was diagnosed 11 years ago at age of 44 and I am living with my kids at this time-but in the near future they will do their own thing and then I will live alone too. There is no Parkinon group in my region and I am thinking to find people diagnosed with PD to rise a group. I send you greetings from Germany and I hope I can listen to another talk soon.

W hatever the kind ofsupports cultivated by patients in arranging support for their help, they end up with care giver's frustrated feelings as there would be big gaps in the perceptions or understaning on the conditions that are unique and abnormal and depending on the type of catch or pain developed by the patients which make them feel anxious. Under these conditions while patient explore fresh ways for relief the care givers tend to feel otherwise. The net result is patients feeling they are better alone as they need not suffer additional anxious movements created by care givers and being alone which means living with slow movements even at the cost of missing time lines . Hence the balancing between make or buy happens perennially and explorations continue. The information shared by such groups might provide some help for all those who are having dificulties for making decision to be on their own or look for dependency. perceptions! perceptions! perceptions!
