Living for Jesus - what a thing to aspire to. We can do it but not ourselves! When we accept the help offered by the Lord, we can indeed live for Jesus, instead of our default - living for self. It's easy to slip into the default position. Self is a demanding master. But we cannot serve two masters and we must make a choice. Jesus or self? I pray that we have the strength from above to choose Jesus!
This was another request from a wonderful listener - and another one I didn't know - though I had heard it somewhere! It wasn't completely unknown, but slightly familiar. It has a powerful and encouraging message and one I am very glad to now know! May you all be blessed as you listen. I am moving slowly through the requests and still have many months worth ahead. Thank you for your continued patience! May God bless you all.
Living For Jesus
Verse 1
Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
Chorus:
O Jesus, Lord and Saviour, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne;
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.
Verse 2
Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on calvary my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.
Verse 3
Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy Name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
Verse 4
Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

I've sung this song before but not often. Now this a new favorite hymn! This is also becoming my heart's desire more and more to live for Christ. Verse 3 is a struggle, but I'm working on it. ;) Thank you for sharing, dear friend! You did a lovely job singing it! God bless and keep you!

It is a challenge indeed, that third verse. It’s hard to remember to count trials as part of our cross. In the trial it’s almost impossible. May the Lord remind us in our darkest times that, with His help, we can finish this race.

Wonderful old hymn, strangely completely new to me. I am a Dane though, so I am kind of excused, but I do have listened to so much of the old English hymns now, that it tells the story, once again, of the abundance of good old hymns in English, that I still can hear something so beautiful and new. I will definitely revisit this one. Thank you and God Bless! I actually got a request from you, surely one, that you will like to sing also: As A Deer! Please! I love that song so much! I realize, that it is a kind of contemporary song, but that one actually is doctrinal sound and just beautiful. First apparently published by Maranatha Singers in 1991, if my search is correct.
