Living In A Car | DIY STEALTH Custom PRIVACY BLACKOUT Window Covers!!! For weeks, I searched for sun shades to fit my car but I ended up not being able to find any. So I decided to create my own; however this time I'm going to blackout my window covers for more privacy.
Living in a car full-time has been one of the most liberating and exciting things I've ever done. This video is a glimpse into my life as a car dweller, from the practical (how to live a minimalistic life in a car) to the philosophical (living in a constant state of change). If you're interested in living a simpler life without the bills, then this video is for you!

Hey Drift, I use the black stiff cardboard panels at the Dollar Tree for $1.25 each. Use your current reflective coverings as a template (you might have to tape together 2 panels for the larger windows), cut them to size and tape them together covering the shiny black side. Also remember to make tab flaps in a couple of corners to pull the covers out of the window with ease. I hope this helps. Keep up the good work!

You should use a cloth material instead and add tint to your windows. It’s too obvious you’re car camping 😅

Flat black spray paint/rubber paint.

Use matt black spray paint will take away all shine, obviously spray them on a warm day and let them dry and air out for the afternoon before installing ,

I think this is a huge improvement. You could put black t-shirt material on one shiny side to dim the shine down a bit. The opposite side you could put a pattern wall print on to brighten up inside. Shiny window covers = NOT stealthy at all. Has to be solid black *matte* where there's absolutely no reflection whatsoever.

They might start to fall out of the window. I used black tape before, but I had to redo them, and I used a black sheet, and it's worked a lot better..

I think the landowners do not like us living in our cars because they do not make money from us anymore. blackout curtains cut out over the shades glued to the shades make the best black-out scenario.

Maybe spray paint (?) If you are going to use those shaped cutouts... I used drapes and bunji chords.

My idea is to use a Darker material in the Winter. And for the summers you need the reflective material to keep that heat off the car

Hi Carol 😃 I typically sleep in the back…all of my seats do remain in there position. I didn’t want to remove any seats out of my car plus I wanted space in the trunk to put all of my things.

No offense Sis, but whoever gave you that bit of advice, needs to be ignored for all future projects! 🤣 lol.. it looks awful in my opinion.. the tape makes the job look cheap and the shininess is giving off too much glare (it actually looks like trash bags in your window).. a fabric covering would have been so much nicer and much stealthier.. the shine from the tape is too noticable, so trying to be stealth and not trying to bring attention to yourself, will be missed with this project 😒 .. and I know that "Gorilla" tape is a good brand, but what you paid for it, to be used for this type of project, is highway robbery.. for what you used it for, you could have simply picked up a couple of rolls from your local dollar store and achieved the same results 😕 sorry Sis, this was a fail (no passing grade)for me 🤷🏽‍♀️

I remember when I first started this. I researched our covers, and I did see one with tape. I almost did it, but realized it would be temporary only. For all those reasons.

U know what.... Our car is so ridiculously hot that we cant even go in the car until we start the air conditioning... We need those tinted windows BAD!!! Our air conditioning is starting to crap out! 😮 Not cool not cool at all!!!🫠🫣😰
