We nearly stayed in the futuristic Nakagin Capsule Tower in Tokyo, Japan. The once modern building designed by Kisho Kurokawa in 1972 has since fallen into disrepair and is slated for eventual demolition.

Thank you for a nice little short-but-sweet tidbit of a useful and informative surf through a moment of your exploring. Thanks! I'm glad people are still enjoying this one. It's been 5+ years now and I'm really curious if anything has changed. Apparently there's a new plan to deconstruct and preserve the capsules, but we'll see what happens...

they use capsule hotels or cybercafes that they are way better.. than own a real house for the rest.. it simply don't work..

The main problem was that the capsules had a huge flaw : they couldn't be removed one by one. So if one habitant was against removing the blocs, they couldn't do anything.

Wrecking ball ordered for demolition of Nakagin as BBC broadcast announced just now. That little piece of land in Ginza worth a fortune. It’s surprising it was not brought down long ago.

It was literally the only place open by the time we ate (and also added to how strange the experience was). No one should waste a meal in Japan at McDonald's.

I tried corn soup at McD in Tokyo. It was very good. McDonald Restaurants all over the world have unique local menus & worth trying. Try chicken Maharaja Mac in India!
