Dr.Hannah. Did you at any point feel like you were being watched while out there this time? Or have any encounter. There was something up in the ridge watching you as you were walking among filming yourself talking to us.(Sasquatch)
One of the positives of the monsoon season in Phoenix/AZ. I love sitting on the patio watching the amazing lightning storms (when there's not a sandstorm at the same time...)
Your cinematography is very impressive for being one person, without a camera crew. The fact that you are so wholesome while being adventorous (and a Dr on top of that) is just amazing. Thank you for making this content - and keep exploring!
"happiness is something simple... don't over complicate things." Your living the life that I had in the places I grew up. I am missing it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful perspective.😁
Your an angel . I wish you peice and happiness. I’m glad your here to take us away from how things are in the US . Thank you DR. Hannah for being here. Jeff
Love the way Hannah starts every video with hello friend, like she’s talking to each us individually. Alway go that extra mile to find the perfect fishing spot an isolated place. Fishing is good after a storm, washes all the little bait critters in the water.
Great video, reminds me of home. Grew up on the Eastern Sierra, been caught in many summer time thunder storms. Fishing high mountain lakes remember this, light line, light line and light line. 4 lb maximum, ultralight rod. Gets some clear floats that can be filled with water and some flies or small jigs. Fill the float about half way with water for weight, fly about 6-8 feet below. Cast out, count to 30, then retrieve slowly, if you are making a wake with the float then too fast. You are now High Sierra Fly fishing. Chop on the water after a storm just adds to the fly's or jigs action.
Hannah's always happy, flashing that pretty smile, and that happy laugh. She also makes for some awesome eye candy. Thanks for the videos and the adventures you share. Always entertaining. Stay safe out there, Doc.
That storm reminded me of a situation my Dad and I were in years ago. We saw a front building on the north end of the lake. The wind was blowing from the south, so we thought we would be OK. Then the wind switched. We high-tailed it back to the dock, narrowly avoiding the deluge of rain. I learned something that day.
I was standing in my shed when lightning struck my light pole splitting the light pole in half when I was standing in the doorway be safe Hannah God bless ✝️❤️🇺🇸
Hannah. You are so blessed to visit some of the mist beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I’ve found early morning fishing always has the greatest success. Sometimes it’s just good fortune to catch something. I was fishing with my grandson who was using his sisters Anna and Elsa fishing rod because he was having no luck. He then caught. 14” large mouth bass. Go figure. Don’t give up. A bad day gushing still beats a a good day at work
A word of advice whether you heed or not. I was in the USCG stationed in New Orleans. Lake Ponchitrane (?) is just north of the city. We would answer calls from boaters who were struck or near misses of lighting. The strike can happen as much as 10 miles away from the storm and can be devastating . If you can hear thunder and see the storm get away, YOU are the tallest thing on the water. Good Luck fishing
Thanks for another great foray into our beautiful and pristine mountains and lakes country of America Hannah! I really enjoyed your paddle boarding segment, then the ensuing thunder storm, breath taking! I hope the board didn't drift off into the sunset, I'm sure you beached it. Also you fishing at sunset in that beautiful mountain lake, hope you landed a fish. Thanks again for another great adventure in our beautiful wide open country of ours!
I love a good rainstorm as long as I have some kind of cover. That can be as simple as a tent, tarp. or awning. I like the feeling of being out in a storm without actually getting soaked. 🙂 I just love your ability to find these secluded spots. Hope your fishing went well.
Years ago when I lived in California, I used to go camping west of Bear Valley on Highway 4. Past the ski resort and Lake Alpine on the south side of 4 is a road heading to a fantastic creek and further a small lake and meadow. It's beautiful and back then there were cows with the bells on clanking away. Reminded me a bit of Switzerland. If you go farther west on 4 higher into the mountains there are some PG&E campgrounds. Pretty barren since you are on top of the world with no soil around. Just granite. Amazing places. BTW, these places are only open from mid-june through August or until the first snow.
Thanks for the tip I'll have to look it up on google earth=) I agree, there are some beautiful fields in the Sierra that truly remind me of a beautiful European landscape!!
Oh, yes, another great video!! But, dear you, lightning strikes are sooooo dangerous. I've had two strikes within 15m of each other last few weeks. The noise and light is scary. Be careful out there! But...be free!!
Oh yes I had trees hit beside myself before. Lightning is just looking for the best mother earth ground to contact too. It cares less about humans. I seen it hit water where I was fishing @ too. God Bless we was in fiberglass boat. Talk about a water spray!!!
Much love, having said that...Get Off the Water with thew FIRST rumble!!!! love the red kini. You are a rock star. I know a lake in Washington with home raised Kakani and I make a killer Salmon taco...yes make fresh corn tortillas. perhaps some day.
If you ever do some more freshwater fishing, try the Great Lakes. Seriously though, if you can hear thunder, lightning is a definite imminent threat. I love hearing thunderstorms especially at night in the summer. I remember years ago when my brother used to listen to baseball games on a small transistor radio. You could hear the crackle/static of the lightning on the AM radio.
I was just up that 4x4 trail last Sunday with my F150 -- you can totally make it in your F250! The lakes at the top are smaller and not as scenic as where you filmed on Upper Blue Lake, but definitely worth seeing that gorgeous valley on the way back down where it merges with the Pacific Crest Trail. Super cool to see all the irises in August though -- glad that you highlighted them!!
Glad to see you back on air been a while down here in Andalusia now instead of sitting up on top of my Mountain young lady I hope you're having a wonderful trip out there and enjoying yourself to the fullest as always much love and great respect keep up what you're doing I enjoy the beauty that you always share God bless you
Hey Hannah. Here's some information about lightning you may not be aware of: "Lightning can travel 10 to 12 miles from a thunderstorm. This is often farther than the sound of thunder travels. That means that if you can hear thunder you are close enough to a storm to be in danger of being struck by lightning. When thunder roars go indoors." This is taken from the National Weather Service site. Keep having fun and stay safe.
Very nice beautiful Hannah, good to see you again. It’s nice you take time to smell the flowers 🙂 The rain was welcome to see too, sometimes we get the need for less sun every day. Beautiful scenery as always. Have a great week! 💕
You’re so amazing Dr. Hannah & your soothing voice, spectacular serene views, incredibly amazing descriptions & the unlimited sponsor recommendations + way more is truly an endless steam of blessings. We LOVE you and your podcast experiences 💖🌹🎀🇺🇸
Your own lake! 🤣 You know lightening is close when you can feel it! 🤯 In Michigan we get a lot of those storms. I luv a good storm. Sunset fishin'. 😎 Almost as much fun as midnight fishing.
What a great video, thank you for sharing. This has to be one of your best videos. You were so much fun. Thunder storms and steady rain are wonderful. Hale is just a wonderful treat. Stay safe and healthy from Henrico County Virginia
Hannah, you packed in a bit of everything in your 12 minute video/adventure; thanks for sharing (stay safe out there, especially during thunderstorms)!
I'm a retired video professional. Shooter, editor, director, all of that. I have to say how very impressed I am with your videos. You probably don't even have any formal training. Your shot composition, framing, editing pace, music choices, and so on, are all stellar. And, as others have said, you're just fun to watch. What a delightful young woman you are. And your videos are so easy to watch because they're so well done. I have a critical eye for that, and many videos on RU-vid are just unwatchable. Thanks for being out there. And be safe!
I laughed when you threw your paddle away after the roll of thunder. You were perfectly safe with that tall mountain behind you but still better safe than sorry.
Those shots of the lightning storm and sunset are awe invigorating, Dr. Hannah!! Your cinematography is as impressive as ever. Hail like that is as bad as you want it. It's when they get as big or bigger than baseballs you need to really get out of the way of them. Your truck looks so clean now!! I hope you caught something and wonder how well a net has worked for you and what your bait is. Don't get eaten by a giant anything yet until you've enjoyed the rest of your summer fun, Dr. Hannah!!
So glad to go to enjoy some "You time" Dr. Straight. Thunderstorms out in nature can be amazing, as long as they don't get too wild and windy. Thanks for showcasing another incredible location, see you in your next adventure!
Great show as always Hannah,I enjoy when goofy Hannah shows up every now and then.Ilike you love thunderstorms and sleeping or relaxing listening to mother nature.
Good morning Sunshine ! It’s a Glorious Day ! Nothing I’d rather do than spend Sunday morning with Hannah !! Have a great day - and you are absolutely right, going a little further (5- 10 minutes ?) will make all the difference with just about everything in this life !
Hello Hannah, I recently mentioned to you about my past as a photographer and past country explorer. Your inspiration DID get me into photography and traveling again. I recently spent a week in my F150 with a topper in Shawnee National Forest , the largest one in Illinois. I hiked, swam in lakes and waterfalls enjoyed nature and took some amazing photographs. I feel free again like I did in Years past. Thank you! :)
Dr. H, Luv your videos of your AMAZING adventures!!! I have a 4WC & have learned that putting car wax on the front of the camper makes cleaning all those suicidal bugs an easy task. Please keep the videos coming. Thank you. Safe & Happy travels my friend!! 👏👍😜🍕🍺
Heading to the ocean sounds great, I'm heading up into the mountains glad to see you are having fun and doing all the right things for your health and well being.
Damn What am I doing wrong? Why am I not on beautiful lakes paddle boarding and fishing to beautiful sunsets? As my big city opens, I continue to feel the need to shut down. Thanks for these 15 minute weekly escapes and reminder of how beautiful this world really is.
every time I find myself in the city I get anxiety these days=/ It's okay in short spurts but all the people!!!! Thank you so much for joining, hoping you can get out there soon=)
I continue to be amazed that you find wonderful places to explore, camp in, hangout in, etc., and there is nobody there. And I am talking about, in the season, for those places. I mean it's that time of year, like now, where everybody is out and going to cool places. Love the channel, Doc.
@@DrHannahStraight I actually have been a subscriber for quite a while and I've watched everyone of your videos. I'll start leaving comments. I have been Boondocking for 3 1/2 years and I get the best ideas from watching your channel.
My Dad used to watch the thunderstorms going across the valley on our front porch. I watch them occasionally too. Storms can make one feel small and put things in perspective.
I don't know what was more beautiful You or the scenery? I think you! That was a very nice video I love those kind of places catch your supper or not it really does not matter just peace and quiet thank you.
Another awesome video! We have low country tarantulas here where I live. They hide in cemeteries a lot, interestingly enough (and not at all creepy). New mattress looks awesome. Good sleep is really important when you lead the lifestyle you do! As a musician who has traveled a lot I can attest to that! Until next time my friend!!
Ted! Happy Sunday! I held one once as a child and they still creep me out because they're so big and furry haha, maybe I'll meet another one up close and personal at the top of this mountain!
If your fishing mountain lakes for trout do it early morning. Spinners work well. Or small hooked pickerel rig with pink marshmallows if your allowed bait. Good luck.
Very striking are you and not from the lightning. So much for my humor. Great vid Doc. I am beginning to wonder about your fishing prowess, fresh water anyway. Take care.
Last Sunday (7-31) we were surfing at Doheny when a downpour moved in. No thunder or lightning so we just enjoyed the big drops splashing in the water. When it cleared, we got surrounded by pelicans so I'm thinking the rain must brought the fish up maybe? At work we would say we use the KISS method (keep it simple stupid!) It is now my mantra and those that know me sometimes give me shirts with similar messages on them (LOL). Not always possible but good to try anyway! BTW glad you didn't get zapped! Dangerous stuff that lightning!
Hey Dr. Hannah. Nice to see you again Angel. You look really pretty in that outfit. I'm glad to see your neck of the woods is getting rain. Here in Connecticut, we haven't had a decent amount of rain in about a month.
Such fun being your friend and savoring the spectacular beauty you provide me with. I've been to many central US lakes but have yet to enjoy the ones you've shown me.
Awesome video ! I can appreciate your fear of lightning. Just lost a young man here to lightning in the Absaroke Wilderness. Great Food ! Love avocado ! Keep up the great work !
