@Artem Ostretsov; Mar del Plata is a very unique and charming place to vacation, visit or to go live in. However, internationally it is virtually unknown and way under exposed; so I think it's great that our boy is showing the world what it's like to live in Mar del Plata. To Argentinians it is its biggest ocean faring beach and harbor city and most popular summer vacation place, but because its beaches are not tropical and it does not have a whole lot of intense old architectural drama as a city other than its pretty coastline, travel agencies are shy about promoting it much. They are completely wrong. Mar del Plata's unique characteristics are all about it's human scale urban fabric and casual day to day life style. It's busy, packing nearly 700.000 people, and yet it's also got a small town relaxed feeling about it, you can literally walk everywhere and it's got everything, good quality or affordable, plus lovely geography all around it.

@@wavnino1 santa fe is a province north of Buenos Aires. It’s landlocked, but the Rio Paraná (the river that connects with the rio de la plata) goes all the way through the province. In Santa Fe there are two main cities. The provincial capital, Santa Fe City, which is rather small (500k people) and Rosario, which is the 3rd largest city in Argentina (1 million people). Rosario is a nice city, although there are some issues with safety. As an Argentinian I personally wouldn’t recommend it. It’s basically just a smaller Buenos Aires, but less affluent and less safe. Because of its size, Buenos Aires has about everything you can imagine.

@Patrick.Edgar.Regini, Mar del Plata is beautiful. I visited it in 2011 while I was living some years in Argentina. What I didn’t like about Mar del Plata is that the water in the public water system at the time was known to cause gastrointestinal distress for most foreigners and even some Argentines. All of my Argentine friends warned me about this when they learned I was traveling there. Only city in the whole country that had this issue while I was there. Don’t know if it’s changed since then. However, if you are living there, after a few uncomfortable weeks your digestive system builds a defense to whatever the issue is and then you’re good.

Medical insurance is vastly different from the US. In Argentina you can get a private insurance which covers everything you need (doctor appointments, test, lab, scans, images, dental and vision) for a flat rate of under 100 USD per month. There's no copays and no other bills besides that. Drugs are paid separately and depends on what you need but usually much cheaper than in the US. You definitely shouldn't worry about healthcare costs.

I have been in Buenos Aires for the past month and I am finding it about half the cost of Canada for everything - the exchange rate is awesome. Now it should be noted that I am staying in the very best and most expensive part of the city so it is even more of a bargain! Next month I am headed to Mendoza for a month and I fully expect it to be 20-30% cheaper than BA. Can't wait. Just a tip - at the end of 2022 the government instructed banks to give foreign Visa/MC debit and credit card holders almost as good a rate as the Blue Dollar from ATMs, which is awesome. So even though it costs me around $6 per withdrawal and I can only take out $100 at a time I use the atm because it is safer than carrying a lot of cash plus if you carry a lot of cash for a month in pesos it will have lost 10% of its value by the end of the month. So I just take out what I need for the week and then the next week I get a better exchange rate.
@sitopoema

Thanks for the video! I'm Canadian and I'm thinking of moving to Mendoza (though after watching your video I'm thinking about Mar del Plata too). I'm 65 and retired. I'm assuming I have to get rid of pretty much everything I own before I move because shipping stuff down would cost a ton. So one concern is the cost of things like furniture and household goods. I assume they're relatively cheap too. The rent you're paying in Mar del Plata is waaay cheaper than the rent I've been able to find in Mendoza - do the cities in Argentina really vary that much?

Those rental numbers CANT be real. If that was true, I would be at the airport tomorrow morning. You're going to have to liquidate your furniture where-is, and get new (used) same at the new place. It's still a great deal.

Foreigners need to keep in mind that to rent an apartment in Argentina you must have a “guarantee” from someone that is Argentine to get the market rate on rent. Without that, you’ll have to pay for a short-term rental that will be up 5 times or more of what the market rate for locals is.

Amazing! I am binge watching all your videos now as I plan a move to Argentina in Oct or Nov this year. How did you find your place to rent? Did you book airbnb and get your boots on the ground first before finding an area/place you liked for long term? Are you working while there or just living?

Very interesting video and quite informative. However, as a foreigner, I'd like if you would include what an average Argentinian student and / or blue collar worker would make an hour or per month for reference.
