I moved to Augusta when I graduated from Aiken Senior High school back in 1966. Every thing is changing in Augusta with all the new construction going on and the older homes being remodeled.

As a lifelong resident-a few points…. Downtown has been in revitalization for about 25 years now. People started moving down there then and it had gotten more people living above the stores and restaurants as time as gone. More places have been added, some taken away. But the revitalization isn’t new. Failures to mention are 1. Right across the River in North Augusta is the new baseball stadium. That is a big draw for people to go. There are restaurants and a wonderful hotel along with the stadium. Downtown is the historical Imperial Theatre where you can see plays, dances, concerts. The historic Miller Theatre was renovated and brought back to life. You can see concerts and shows there. There is the historic Bell Auditorium (my parents saw Elvis there in the 50’s) and they have acts coming right and left there. Plus the Civic Center(aka James Brown a arena). In Evans in the Amphitheater to see concerts in an outdoor setting. We have Doctors Hospital in West Augusta, University/Piedmont, Augusta Iniversity, and the VA in Downtown. Summerville campus of Piedmont between downtown and West Augusta, Aiken a regional in Aiken and the hospital at Ft Gordon. Shopping and eating galore-from the Augusta Mall to all the shopping areas from Aiken, North Augusta all thru Augusta and Evans. In Aiken is the horse farms with the Aiken Steeplechase in the spring. And we have a Market downtown every Saturday and the longest continuing farmers market in Aiken. There is so much more to Augusta. Seeing the homes to sell is good for people looking for homes but knowing what the area holds for them is a whole other story.

Thanks for watching and the great feedback. I was born and raised in south Augusta outside of Fort Gordon gate 5, in Spanish Trace off of Tobacco Rd. Went to Curtis Baptist for school and church, downtown Augusta. Lived in Martinez and Evans throughout Middle and HS at Lakeside and attended Augusta State University. It's been interesting watching Augusta and the CSRA evolve over the years. Check out some of our other videos on the CSRA and let us know if we can ever be of service. Until then, take care and thanks again.

I am actually blown away by the prices you're mentioning.. for Richmond county? A bit wild. You are definitely showing some of the better houses, head over to south Augusta, or even a few roads right off of Broad Street, and you will have a very different vibe. I do agree though that the area is slowly getting better and having a revitalization.
@LIVINGINATLGA

Hey Christian, thanks for the feedback. I grew up in south Augusta off of Tobacco Rd outside of Gate 5. So I know the area intimately. Also went to Curtis Baptist elementary school which is located downtown on Broad St. My mother worked off of Telfair St. for a small business. I went to Augusta University as well, so I've spent lots of time in and around downtown. No doubt Augusta isn't all rainbows and unicorns but I don't think you'll find a city that doesn't have areas that are less than desirable to live in. Having said that, I try to highlight the areas people would want to live in an authentic and transparent way. Hopefully that comes across in the videos.

I would love to know about the art community in the Augusta area. Where is it?
@LIVINGINATLGA
@LIVINGINATLGA Год назад
Augusta, Georgia, has a growing and vibrant art community. Known for its historical significance, natural beauty, and southern charm, the city has been fostering a diverse range of artistic expressions and initiatives. Art Galleries: Augusta is home to several art galleries that feature works by local and regional artists. These galleries often host exhibitions, art shows, and events to showcase different art forms, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and mixed media. Art Festivals and Events: Throughout the year, Augusta hosts various art festivals and events that celebrate local talent and attract artists from across the region. The most well-known event is the "Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival," which takes place in September and features artists, performers, and food vendors from different cultural backgrounds. Public Art Installations: The city has been investing in public art installations, contributing to its urban beautification efforts. Murals, sculptures, and other forms of public art can be found in different neighborhoods, creating a more vibrant and appealing environment. Art Organizations: There are several non-profit art organizations in Augusta that support and promote local artists. These organizations often provide resources, workshops, and opportunities for artists to connect and collaborate. Art Education: Augusta has art schools, community colleges, and universities that offer art programs and courses. These educational institutions play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and fostering artistic growth in the city. Music and Performing Arts: In addition to visual arts, Augusta has a rich musical and performing arts scene. The city hosts concerts, theater performances, and dance shows throughout the year, attracting both local and touring artists. Art Walks: Some areas in Augusta hold regular art walks, during which local businesses and galleries stay open late, offering visitors a chance to explore and appreciate various art exhibits. Artists' Studios: Augusta provides affordable studio spaces for artists, encouraging them to create and share their work with the community. Some studios are open to the public, allowing visitors to witness the creative process. Cultural Diversity: Augusta's art community reflects the city's diverse cultural background, with artists from various ethnicities and backgrounds contributing to the artistic landscape. Keep in mind that the art scene can evolve and change over time. For the most up-to-date information about Augusta's art community in 2023, I recommend checking local arts websites, art council pages, and social media channels to see the latest events, exhibitions, and initiatives.

Suggestion. If you want to show potential relocation amenities here, I would cover mullings cross phase one and 2, the mall area, the new area by sprouts, Riverwatch and costco area, The new downtown Evans thats being built, the new grovetown shopping and grocery district off i20, The 5 greenways for the walkers, bikers, etc. West Augusta /Augusta Exchange area. Mention the new stuff being built like the various high end apartment and condos in devotement in Augusta/Evans and Grovetown, Plus the farmers market in Augusta and the one in Edgefield, Evans, North Augusta, and Aiken. As well as the close , drivable Aiken Alley which has tons of restaurant's, bars, walkable downtown and music festivals.

LOL... Seriously I laughed out loud. Because I totally get it. Having grown up in Augusta then moving to Atlanta then onto living in NYC, LA, CHI and DFW before settling back in Georgia. Augusta is no NYC. If you want / need to be on the go constantly, get comfort from the noise, prefer subways over cars, concrete sky scrappers over strip malls, small condo / apartment living, millions of people, 24/7 work hard play hard culture, then Augusta is not for you. But if you're ready to slow down, relax and enjoy life. Want a quieter, safer place to raise a family. Want economic opportunity combined wit affordable living,. Like people, but don't want to live with in the big city or on the farm. Want the best of both worlds. Then Augusta or one of the surrounding suburbs like Martinez, Evans or Grovetown might be just what you're looking for.

What are the zipcodes or cities for new construction? Is that in Evans?
@LIVINGINATLGA
@LIVINGINATLGA 2 года назад
I'd look in Evans and Grovetown for new construction. FYI, don't ever buy a new construction home without an agent representing you. Some people think they get a better deal if they don't have a realtor but that couldn't be further from the truth. The agent on site in the model home works for the builder. Their job is to sell homes and make the builder as much as possible. The buyer needs an agent representing their best interest. Last year, I had a friend that mentioned buying a new home in passing, so I ask who their agent was. They didn't have one. The wife had just stopped by in passing and fell in love with the community and decided to buy. They had already agreed on terms and had the contract in their email to sign. I reached out to the agent. Negotiated a discount and design credits of over $5K and the builder paid my commissions. So it cost the buyer nothing, saved them thousands and they were thrilled. If we can help in anyway, let us know.

I don't claim to be a traffic engineer by any means, butt I've never seen a major interchange like it done well. Being from Augusta and having lived in Atlanta, New York, LA, Chicago and DFW. You'd think someone would have gotten one right by now. Having said that, the traffic around Augusta is a walk in the park on it's worst day compared to those major markets. I guess there is always a trade off between growth and opportunity versus a slower pace and less traffic. As always , thanks for your contribution to the conversation.

Would love to visit there soon. My partner and I live in SW Atlanta and this area has boomed and continues to grow as we’re on the west side beltline. We’re getting older and considering relocating to smaller Urban areas now that work has become all remote. We’ve been looking into Augusta and Columbus as they both look appealing and Augusta seems to have a milder winter than here would be great for road cycling year around. We do enjoy the diversity and inclusiveness of Atlanta so that is our concern moving forward to a much smaller urban areas. Thanks for the video!
@LIVINGINATLGA
@LIVINGINATLGA 2 года назад
Thanks for watching, subscribing and the feedback. If you haven't already I'd highly recommend you watch my videos on the Augusta suburbs of Evans, Martinez and Grovetown. Augusta and Columbus seem to be similar in size from the outside looking in but they're not even close. Both around 200K and they flip flop back and forth in terms of which one is bigger. However the Columbus metro is 300K+ and Augusta CSRA is 600K+ and that gap is getting wider. Both are similar in terms of diversity. I'm biased because I grew up in Augusta but I believe it's hands down the better choice. All of the suburbs around Augusta are growing. Evans, Martinez, Grovetown, etc. Growth creates value. But the CSRA is a 1/10th the size of Atlanta so it's. a much smaller, slower market without being so small that you sacrifice lifestyle and opportunity. The cyber security command at Fort Gordon, Augusta University, the medical school, plant Vogtle, the Masters, etc. There is a lot going for Augusta. I just can say that for Columbus. Evans was named the #1 best place to live in America by Money magazine and Martinez was #17. High income, affordable housing and low cost of living make for a great combination. Not to mention rivers, lakes, parks and recreation, etc. If you'd like to chat about your specific situation, we'd love to help. Call, text or email so we can connect 🙏
