Cave dwellers refer to early humans who lived in caves during prehistoric times, especially in the Stone Age. This period began around 2.5 million years ago and continued until about 10,000 years ago. Caves provided a safe living environment for these humans due to protection from weather conditions and wild animals. However, in some countries, this type of living still exists.

Cave dwelling in Afghanistan dates back to very ancient and prehistoric times. Evidence suggests that early humans in this region of Asia lived in caves during the Paleolithic era, or Old Stone Age, which is estimated to be around 100,000 to 30,000 years ago. Bamiyan, with the world's most famous Buddha, is the center of cave dwellers in the modern era.
One of the most famous examples of cave dwelling in Afghanistan is the Bamiyan Caves, where the giant Buddha statues were carved. These caves were used as religious centers and Buddhist monasteries during the Kushan period (around the 3rd to 5th century AD). Additionally, caves around the Hindu Kush, the Bagram Valley, and other areas also show evidence of prehistoric and historical settlements.
Overall, cave dwelling in Afghanistan is not only significant from an archaeological perspective but also represents an important phase of human life in this region.
