During our 2 week trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, we rented an apartment in a local area of the city. It was a fantastic area, a quiet and friendly neighborhood, but just a short distance from downtown Copenhagen. In this video, I’m going to give you a full video of our apartment in Copenhagen.
Vesterbro - When I mentioned we were staying in Vesterbro to many locals in Copenhagen, many mentioned that they loved the area, and that it was one of their favorite neighborhoods in Copenhagen. And I figured out why pretty quickly - the area is quiet and peaceful, yet not far from downtown, it has a nice friendly feel to it, and there are many great restaurants, cafes, and shops in the area. I would highly recommend Vesterbro when you visit or live in Copenhagen, I loved the area.
Total price - The price to rent this apartment on a short term basis like we did, was $189 per night, which came with two bedrooms, and a full house. It’s still not cheap, but when you compare it to a hotel room in Copenhagen, it’s much more affordable and you get much more space.

I live in Copenhagen. This is one of the most expensive cities to live in. I love it, but to be brutality honest it is not easy for normal people to live in the city. Vesterbro was (20 years ago) not very popular, but today it has become a family place in the city. Østerbro is very alike.

Daniel Fl. It’s about the same as in the other nordic countries :\ I mean u have to pay like 1000$/month for a 4room renting apartment in a small town in sweden... Also looking at prices... it’s quite similar between Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. Especially when you count in with salaries etc... Capitals, other ”major cities” (in the nordic like Malmö, Gothemburg, Aarhus, odense, bergen etc...) and like towns with for example very old nice arvitecture or perhaps archipelago... they are like always the moste expensive (for that perticular country).

Im looking forward to see what Nørrebro will be like in 10-20yrs time.... But the most interesting thing is paying attention to the whole Christiania struggle, i dont wont it turned into a expensive residential neighbourhood but neither do ilike seeing what it has become and how it is evolving in the hands of foreign criminals. To think when hells angels ran the place it was quite good.....especially compared to how it is nowadays

HI Mark, great to see your finally in my country :-) When you spoke about the squeeky floors and how you must tip toe around the apartment when Mica sleeps, thats exactly how you get a sound sensitive child. If you from day one just do your normal thing in your home, cooking, talking , laughing with guests etc your child will get used to this noise from the very start and will sleep through most noise. Even if you drop something in the kitchen, having some "quality" time with the mrs´s etc your child will sleep like a bear. Try it out. Kind regards from Phuket.

MRitterH I am living proof of that. I lived 100 yards from a military flight line from birth to 14 years old and I can sleep through anything. Getting used to different sound environments are key to a calm sleep throughout life.

I second that. I lived through my chilhood i Ilulissat with about few 1000 sleddogs just across the street, no less than 100 meter away. Then moves to another town with no sleddogs, came back when I was 29 to Ilulissat and was surprised I could get annoyed by them. When they start to how at the beginning. But tood a few months. Then it was like I am used to them again and not notice those few 1000 dogs when they start to how at the moon. Especially doring the night. In fact when I moved away again. I found that I misses the dog sound.

True! Danes really love minimalistic and functional design. The idea is to have a small residence, easy to clean and all you need. Use the rest of your money travelling and enjoying life.

@Craig This is the local price dude! An Apartment like this will cost between 2500-4000 dollars a month - for locals! Copenhagen is more expensive than Berlin, Barcelona etc..

Im Peruvian and my grandparents tough me Danish, because they were from Denmark. 2 years ago I traveled to Denmark and I loved the country 😍 hope go again on Summer time, yes thats expensive, cause the fees (25%), but the fees pays Education and Hospital so thats free🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

One of most beautiful and clean cities in the world. Expensive, but every Copenhagen - comparable city is expensive (Zurich, Oslo, Quebec), income is also very high. Thank God I live in Copenhagen

Johnny Szumlanski Jeg har også set se andre, men hvor er det trist det udelukkende er København, har været der 2 gange og øv hvor var det dyrt, 90% af folk enten var eller så sure ud, maden var heller ikke af råbe hurra for.. Der er mange steder på Sjælland, Fyn, Jylland og øerne der er langt venligere og autentisk. Ha en skøn dag😉

K.S. L. Der er helt sikkert masser af steder i DK som er et besøg værd. Der er masser af steder her i KBH med lækker mad og god service. Så har jeg også fundet ud af at Mark er inviteret af Wonderfull Copenhagen så er det jo ganske naturligt det meste er derfra 😀

Johnny Szumlanski Ah så kan jeg bedre forstå det mest er København. Jeg har kun selv været i København to gange (måske med de forkerte mennesker), for blev meget skuffet. Maden var ret kedelig og folk (flest) virkede fortravlede og/eller sure. Så har jeg det meget bedre i mine små byer i syd og midt Jylland hvor folk smiler og endda måske siger hej på gaden. Ha en fantastisk dag😉

K.S. L. Ja storbyer er altid mere fortravlet og folk virker mere indelukket. Ikke bare et Københavner problem. Det er nu ærgerligt for dem som oplever det incl. dig. Håber du en dag for mod på at prøve igen, da her også er mange steder med lækker mad til rimelige penge og med god service oven i. God dag retur 😀

Your video reminded me of the time I lived in Germany 40 years ago. Cold, wet, and dreary in the fall and winter months. It was a wet kind of cold that went right through your bones. I was cold all the ten years I lived there brrrrrrr 🥶. Having been raised in west Texas where it sunny and hot most year round, the cold weather in Germany was especially hard for me. I've been to Copenhagen once on a overnight layover. In my short time there I managed to see 2 museums, got arrested by plain cloth police for arguing with a bartender, met a nice pot head dude who invited me to his flat where I got laid by his sister. Overall a decent experience.

There can be found cheaper Apartments and hotels in Copenhagen. Depends on the size and location. Frederiksberg can be cheaper than Copenhagen Centrum and is a couple of minuts away from Copenhagen Centrum.

Mark states that Vesterbro seems like a place where you can still afford to live in Copenhagen reasonably cheap. Not the case. This is one of the most coveted areas of Copenhagen and real estate prices are incredibly expensive. It's not as bad as areas of Nørrebro, to the North, but Sydhavn or Amager are probably your best bets for finding reasonable housing prices...of course with the caveat that this is Copenhagen so be prepared to throw down 400k USD for a 600 square foot apartment if you're lucky.
