Should you move to Denver? This is a question that a lot of people are asking themselves right now as Denver has become a hot spot for families and young professionals alike. After living in Colorado for 22 years, I have decided to make a video discussing the pros and cons of living in Colorado. I hope this video helps others decided if moving to Denver is the best option for them

I'm a colorado native and let me tell you the truth. it's a beautiful place and all of those telling you about the traffic? it isn't even that bad hun, try going to LA and see the traffic there. Yes living there can be expensive, but nothing like New York or like i mentioned LA. Who tf cares if you're from another state we welcome anyone. If denver seems to "full" then just go to another city like Colorado Springs. I will always love colorado and welcome anyone to come. So to answer your question, DO move here!!

ely ; Also consider Miami, Florida as one of the most expensive places to live-in. Just to mention, if by any chance someone wants to leave near the beach and be centric around the boulevards, must gotta be willing to pay between $3700 to any where $5000 for one or two bedroom apartments, no joking. Everything is going up and up in prices!

+Getaway Driver the prices of living has been almost identical for me from living in PA based on my income in proportion to taxes. Colorado is a hell of a lot more beautiful than PA as well😂 Sitting on a bus for an hour to go about a mile wasn't very pleasant either. It's just the lifestyle I've been apart of. I spent most of my life in Europe and Colorado reminds me of Europe in the scenery and the lifestyle.

whos acting like they own it? come on in and join the rest of the scum and breath Denvers shit brown air, go kayak in the Platte downtown and be careful of whats in that "water", hope you make tons of money because youll need it to live here. watch your back, Try not to get your ass beat on 16th street mall. have fun driving up to our beautiful mountains on Fridays, make sure you love heavily backed up traffic and wrecks. this guy says schools and everything are safe lol, do some more research. these people doing these move to Colorado, are are blowing smoke up your you know what, They get paid. so mok$ha, suck up the pollution, dope and meth, welcome to the Mile high city.

Lol I love how you say "and it's dry here" in a bad way. Everyone KILLS to live in the dry climates as possible. That's why California is such a popular place to live, cause there's no humidity while in literally every other place has double the humidity. Humidity makes you feel like you literally can't breath and it's the worst feeling ever. While in dry, it's crisp air that makes you feel free, I don't know how to explain it.
@ethansimoton1

Lizzy Hale I actually like to have some humidity. Miami and Hawaii is way to much for me. Colorado is too dry for me though. I hate having dry skin and chapped lips. I also have bad allergies in dry climates. I'm moving to San Diego though, that seems like it should perfect amount of humidity for me. Not too much, not too little. just righttttt. Just like the weather :)

My husband and I are looking at moving to Denver. We currently live in Fort Worth, TX; though, I'm originally from the DC area and he's from Durango, CO. One of the things we like about Denver is that the people are open-minded, much like what I grew up with in DC. Totally understand the people saying out-of-staters are ruining Denver in that it was the same in DC--housing prices hiked and rent was way expensive. That said, the out-of-staters moving in also strengthen the economy and as much as tourists were frustrated, it was a huge economy boost for us. Your video is definitely helpful, so thanks!

Im from Scotland, UK and currently live and work in China. Always fancied Colorado as a future place to Live and start a family as it looks beautiful and only heard good things but after reading all the comments from all the natives Im thinking twice. They dont seem to friendly or welcoming. Unbelievable. Not just 1 or 2 comments from negative people, It seems to be the majority of the natives who seem very angry and unwelcoming. Thanks for the video and opening my eyes!

The perfect ski day in Colorado: get up at 4 am, pack your stuff the night before because you’re going to want to be to I70 before 530 am. Any later and it will be stop and go. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to get to most ski destinations. Plop down $125 for your lift ticket. Leave the Mountain no later than 2pm. It will take you 2 hours to get back to Denver. If you stay until the Mountain closes plan on a 5 hour drive do to stop and go traffic, or stay until 7 then head down. Camping: same as skiing just make sure to make reservations for your campground about 6 months in advance. All other activities, crowded crowded crowded. If you would like to move here you can get a nice two bedroom condo for $325,000. Enjoy.

Wait, what?! A 2 bedroom condo for only 325K? Wow.... I haven’t seen prices like that in Colorado for years! Maybe in Pueblo, or somewhere else no one wants to live. You are spot-on with the rest, though! To access popular hiking trails, plan to be at the trailhead before 6AM, or the parking lot will be full!

You know it really sucks what is happening to Colorado right now. I live in Arizona and we went through what you guys did, except it wasn't as bad. But we get what you guys are feeling with the whole overpopulated and the over priced problem. See if you were a Mexican or Californian or from somewhere out of state, we would freaking DESPISE you here in Arizona. Well now its okay but everything got so expensive and went down to shit. My brother lives in Colorado and he has been living there for 7 years and back then he said it was so beautiful and amazing and everyone was so nice. Until Weed was legal and people overpopulated it and destroyed the scenery and the green nature of Colorado. It's actually really sad, I can't visit my brother as much anymore because some people just want to live there because it's so nice. Well it ain't gonna be nice if people keep destroying it. I really hope by some miracle your state will end up fine and not end up shitty like how my state became. The only thing I really wish is to just be able to visit my brother again.

Very helpful. Considering a move from the UK and admittedly I’m mainly drawn to Denver for the Broncos initially but that isn’t enough of a reason to relocate alone and this helps to open my mind to what life could be like living there. It was nice to see an honest and balanced opinion too, not over-doing the positives to the point where it seems fake. The sneeze made me spit my drink out at work though 😄 bless you

Rent in Denver is doubling and the city is considering rent controls. Move here but bring a lot of cash as there will be vacancies due to residents being priced out since wages ares are always low as well. Sun shining does not do shit for you when temperature is 20. Plus half of the state is high desert, plains with high winds most of the year then hot in summer until afternoon then cloudy and buckets of rain.

I feel really bad about the huge influx of people moving to Colorado, because I've wanted to move there since I was a kid. It's so beautiful and seemed like a quiet, nice place. So my plan of moving there because it's quiet with not too many people seems like it's tanking... I've talked to a lot of natives and I feel like I just fit in with them and with the culture. Denver is literally perfect. Close to mountains and many outdoor activities while also getting a big city vibe. While it does get cold, Denver is actually quite moderate throughout the winter. As a 4G native, I can say we understand we can't stop the influx. It helps if you drive wisely in the snow. Don't move here, get an SUV, and assume you're invincible. Likewise, don't let the snow scare you down to a crawl either. Don't trash our parks. Don't trash our teams. Don't do dumb things while skiing/snowboarding. Don't scrape our cute old homes and replace every square foot of the lot with an ugly modern, stucco "home" that resembles a dentists office building. (I'm talking to you, Californians.) Our license plate stickers go on the bottom corners. (Again, talking to you Californians.) Respect the Casa Bonita. Respect Blucifer. Blucifer was here before you. And lastly, it is ColoradANS. Not Coloradoans.

All points made in this video are spot on. Positive and negative. But as a Colorado native dealing with the influx of people I'd like to say one thing... Please stop moving here!!! My boyfriend and I both have really good jobs and it's still a struggle for us to live because of all of the people moving here and driving prices of everything up. We can't even live comfortably in our home state. It's reminiscent of NYC or LA some days. Drives that use to take us 20 minutes now take 45 minutes to an hour. It's a nightmare. And the people who are coming here are trashing the state. There's a beautiful spot in the mountains called Hanging Lake... Use to be a quiet not well known spot...now they had to CLOSE IT because there was so much trash left there. You can't even escape to the mountains anymore because EVERY ONE is escaping to the mountains. You have to actually make reservations to go camping. On the news last night they said we are gaining 10,000 A MONTH. Please. Stop. Moving. Here.

10 years ago the entire country was moving to the South East flooding to places like Charlotte N.C. and Ft Lauderdale Fl because that's where the banking industry was. It's a very obvious cycle people will flood Colorado and in next 5-7 years people will bolt due to crowds and cost of living, followed by a State wide crash economically and population wise. Then people will move to next hit spot. I've been in State for 5+yrs and I'm kicking around idea of relocating again because cost of living here is so absurd, it's more expensive than Miami and trust me there's no way it should cost what Miami does.

Have you thought about moving to Dallas or Houston? They have some very affordable places to live. Gas is pretty cheap. You can get a 1-2 bedroom apartment in the suburbs for about $700-$850 a month.

I would not recommend Houston. After a collective 9 years, I can honestly say a person attracting to living in CO would not like it here. The reasons for me are countless, but.... a short list. Swamp nuts year-round, no zoning laws = Bobs muffler is in you back yard. (just street view Houston (outside of downtown)). I have a gravel pit, several junk yards, trailer parks and other dumpy industrial areas businesses very near my suburban home. Rent is not that cheap either, which makes little sense since housing is pretty affordable. This place is never been good (lived here in '91, '93, '95, 2006, and the last 2.5 years. It still fucking stinks, which goes to show, not much changes around here. Think driving is bad in CO?? You have no idea, honestly. I gave up riding my motorcycle entirely since moving here. The roads, signage, and drivers are all tremendously hazardous. My car insurance went up 25% when I moved here. It remained the same when I moved to Phoenix from Denver, but jumped way up the day I moved to Houston. After a few months, it didn't take long to figure out why. Take Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, anywhere else. Uggh.

I've lived in Huntsville, Al for about 9 yrs. Its progressively changing. It used to be just military and NASA, but there's so much more. Hunting, fishing, trails...We have 3 colleges. We are a hub to Nashville(2hrs away) to Chattanooga(3hrs), to Atlanta(4hrs away) and not very far from the beaches. The cost of living is less, though Madison continues to raise mortgages. Its half the people of Aurora or even places like Austin, Portland, etc.

well done a good balance and good points. I am from southern Rhode Island and been in Denver since 79. I love it but all of the great things have changed it is a hugely liberal area many Millennials and a lot of attitude. This Colorado cool thing always and today people sit in the left lane on purpose so you can't get by it's just too much for me. Rodger up people would notice you and get out of the way if they weren't out of the way already. I'm planning to leave I don't want anything to do with marijuana tired of the high prices and this city is like a fabricated make pretend life.. everything costs money to do. too many rules too many video cameras too many square miles of concrete. I love the sunshine and the ability to make money doing just about anything which is good for people in these little towns in Michigan and South Dakota who have nothing to rely on. but I'm looking for a place to go. think I want to get back near the ocean the mountains never really did it for me anyway. Thank you for your continued support

You can't be thinking Denver is a marijuana city just cause that's what the news says. You actually have to be there to make valid opinion on it. Mine is that it's safe and you wont get harmed. Aslo that its probably one of the best States.

Ive been in colorado over 20 years from the miami area Regarding your cons. 1) The weather comments are completely subjective. If you live in arizona, then colorado would have cool summers. If youre from chicago, colorado winters are cake 2) Yes there are over 300 days of sunshine per year. Calling that bullshit is intellectually dishonest. Im outdoors regularly and confirmed, we have over 300 days a year of sunshine

I have lived in Austin my whole life; cost of living here is comparable to Denver. It is growing just as fast which brings the cost of living up. Biggest CON with living here is horrible infrastructure. The citizens will complain about traffic but refuse to help pay for rail systems of any sort, ride sharing etc. So bring your bike, scooter and car. lol

I’ve lived in Michigan all my 22 years of life. Love it here. Tons of water to fish on and so much greenery especially in the upper peninsula where there is no one. Just quiet natural green mountainous areas. I’ve always loved the mountains and have thought of living in Colorado cause it is a gorgeous state but now seeing the comments.. tons of people moving in many of which sound like they don’t respect nature and sound annoying, I think I might stay here. Or go farther west. Maybe Utah or Montana.

The cold is not a problem ;) advice in NYC is just to pretend like you aren't shocked by anything...because you will be.

Just found your channel. We actually are thinking about living in a different city/state for one year each...in the future. We are enjoying our state of Florida from now. We are originally from Ohio. We hear Denver has a lot of sun. I hope that is true. Ohhh just heard you say how cold it is. It is why we left Ohio to Florida :) Denver is one place we would like to spend a year in :) Maybe for 6 months(not the winter lol)
@LivingFree207

***** It's funny that you mention hurricanes. Many people think the same. One reason I didn't move sooner to Florida was because I was afraid of hurricanes. We have been here for 6 1/2 years and no hurricanes YET. I hope they keep missing us.. Car accidents are something to worry about down here as well as back in Ohio where we had all that ice. I was nearly killed twice within 3 months of each other in car accidents many years ago. I'm lucky to be alive. There are so many places in the world I'd love to see. The thing I don't like about "vacations" is that you really can't get to know a place very well. I prefer to mingle wtih the locals rather thant "tourist traps". We've been down here all this time and still finding new places to see. I can't imagine all the places to see in Colorado as far as partks, nature and wildlife goes. I don't know where life will take us but it all is VERY interesting :) lol

+Living Free Forever Birney & Raised in N.E. Florida and lived in Miami for 6+yrs Oddly enough Fl doesn't get hit with many Hurricanes. The ones that do are century makers. Stationed on N.C. coast in Military for 5yrs experienced was ground zero for 4+ hurricanes. Florida very affordable but no longer the Friendly South due to all the transplants. Colorado is unreal beautiful, it does get cold Summers are a joke because it's dry heat no real heat index plus once Sun goes down Temps plummet, only place I've lived where u can keep jacket on hand 365. In comparison Florida never cools at midnight it's still 80-90 degrees it's oppressive.

CHANCE GAUGE RYAN Great points. It is why I like to travel... to be able to experience it all. I really don't like the cold so I don't think I would stay for long periods in colder locations....It does look really beautiful though in Colorado. I only was at the Denver airport once 30 years ago when I went to Las Vegas :) so I really didn't get to see it other than fly over :)

Living Free Forever I have some injuries incurred while in Military and they do better at higher altitudes and barometric pressure, and strangely do better in cooler climates. N.C. is my 2nd home to Florida, in 2010 picked 5 places to potentially relocate to Colorado, Utah, ID, MN, Montana left Charlotte Oct 2010 for Denver to visit 40 Deg rainy leaving NC, touching down in Denver it was -10 below I was in shorts and hoody, but when I got to shuttle i commented to driver it didn't feel that cold, he said it's because more humid climates feel colder! I wouldn't let weather worry you guys about Denver, while they get cold and snow it's literally bipolar type weather snow doesn't stay and can be 60 Deg following day. It's where I live in Mountains that gets crazy snow long winters and in total you can get experience at least 5-7 days temps in the insane (-'s) double digits. My first Winter in Mtns I recall on drive to Denver my cars temp gauge showing -3 then while driving -15 (Didn't know temp gauge went that low) a week later -26 & - 32 I posted pics online because I was show shocked. You guys living in Florida are used to the transplants and mix of cultures and people, outside of Denver proper you won't find much diversity. As poster stated cost of living is offensive, I left Ft Lauderdale had 1200sf apt 2/2 real nice 2nd nicest place I lived paid $1100, in process of relocating to front Range down around Denver and a 600-700sf apt 30min from Denver is $1300-$1500, with no real amenities. The 1st apt I moved into smack dab in middle of Denver like a block away fro Baseball stadium in 2011 was $950, same place now is $2k, there's no justification in that. Hell my family attorneys refuse to allow me to purchase property in the State because they view the market as volatile, local Real Estate Execs and State Officials are saying it's going to even out, but those outside of Colorado are hedging it's going to likely cause people to flee State and subsequently cause entire market to dip greatly. Saw 2wks ago Colorado has some of the worst air quality in US , took me back that is until I read mostly caused by Ozone pollution, but there is a marked increase in pollutants from the States rapid growth. I'd say if you guys want to move here as you stated for short duration move to a Mountain town, because your moving here it mostly sounds like to experience the State and you'll have better opportunity to experience Colorado in the actual Rockies, ski, hike, Mtn biking. Military is sending back to College to re-earn Nursing licenses that were lost after my injuries so I am able to live off of my Pension and College stipend and enjoy the State, I've gotta move down to Denver area to finish up schooling, but after seeing the cost of living I'm having to now think about relocating out the State to finish, it's that bad! 3yrs ago it was 2nd to San Francisco in annual increase, last year it actually was #1. All that being said by far positives out weigh negatives, people are awesome and it's great

First of all, thank you for serving. My dad was a WW2 & Korean vet. He was at Normandy. I'm so sorry you were injured. It's funny how some people feel better in cooler weather and for me prefer the humid. We most likely will keep this home since we bouht it at the bottom. We would want to live literally downtown whatever city we choose so I can walk around to stores/restaraunts on a daily basis. We can drive out to parks and what not. We are originally from Ohio. I lived in the suburbs, near the city of Cleveland and out in the country for 10 years. I'm used to all types of people. I like experiencing different types of people and cultures. Thank you so much for the information. If I go anywhere it will only be for maybe 3 months at a time so if I don't like it it's not the end of the world. :) We won't be going anywhere for a while since our daughter is in college here for one more year at this local college. I'm happy you are going back to nursing. I have a couple of familly members in nursing. :) Thank you again. I apprecaite your time.

When I graduate from college I plan on moving to Denver. I am from Charlotte North Carolina and it just has gotten too crazy for my taste. I love the mountains and the culture that comes with it and alot of rock/metal concerts come to Denver which is sweet. I think the people of Colorado who tells others not to move here are just pissed off about all the people that move there because of weed. In the next few years I will go to college in the mountains of North Carolina. That should prepare me better. Denver and surrounding areas is awesome. I think the rise of prices go with being in a major city because Charlotte North Carolina is dealing with that as well.

Very Cool Ethan- I enjoyed your humble perspective on it- very honest. I've only visited Denver/Thorton area once, I'm looking to study at Univ. of Denver lol but i'd need in state tuition (paying my own way!) From what I seen in CO-- amazing beauty no doubt!, outdoorsy people, craft beers galore! haha and similarly to a comment below, I felt a bit jaded cause of the aggressiveness toward non-natives, its un-like anywhere else when usually if someone is from elsewhere, people are interested in that... "like no way! whats it like in _____Pennsylvania!?" haha, but instead, I felt if you werent a 'Native' people had this attitude like don't overdue your stay! when thats unfortunate. Either way- ill try to look for the positive when im out there again and forget about the few ppl who were like that. Wishing you the best in your travels! Cheers!

The amount of transplants in Denver is making me dizzy. I'm seeing just about every frickin' out-of-state license plate now on a daily basis. For example, the other day, I had Texas, Iowa and Georgia all in front of me on 1-25. Some come here with an uppity attitude. I can say this since I'm a native of over 40 years. I can understand why people are mad being here before the boom. But its to the point people are so rude. I have a few that friend's are awesome here. But you will always be looked at like the non local person or strange. We from a hell hole and to be able to move to a big city for us was huge we traveled for a year before we picked here. It was a awesome thing being we travel a lot its just cheaper and we hated were we are from no one wants to travel to Alabama let alone move there. So as the nonlocal local No get the fuck out we have no room! We already bought our house. Our nature setting has brought us from crazy city....oh Denver, good luck, lost cause... Haha. Native here born and raised ... Mountains to plains... Leave. People ruined my experience by disrespecting the local rules . How to drive. How to camp. How to be safe. Respect nature. No, no one coming here has respect. Nature and solitude is what drives Colorado. Not policies ... Not people... Not trafic... Not trash...and not people who want to change nature for city life. And in the video he's saying he's happy he's not going to be living there anymore because he's been living there for 22 years and he doesn't like the coldness. I'm a Tucson native and I totally agree. I hate that we only really have 2 seasons, hot and really freaking hot. We have like no winters here IMO. The actual winter sucks because all the snowbirds come to town and we only have surface streets so getting anywhere is a pain. Also all our malls really suck here compared to places like Denver. The new outlets off twin peaks are nice but who wants to go there when it's 110 degrees out?!

Why do people relocate? Job Opportunity, Better Atmosphere, more affordable housing? Whatever your reasons, rest assured that any reason is good enough to leave Miami. Hi! I'm Tired. Tired who? Oh. I'm tired of this shit! Tired of busting my ass for 50+ hours per week and can barely afford a roll of Charmin. Tired of going to south beach only to realize I cant afford to pay the parking meter. Miami is for people with money! Tourist, retirees. Rich and wealthy people. Its not a place to raise kids, or even to work. Trust me. I'm 35 2 kids, I have a degree in electrical engineering. But this city is so overpopulated and so unequally biased it's a shame. Miami is basically Cuba. And dont get me wrong because I love my latin people. But unless you're fluent in Spanish do not expect to thrive in Miami. Colorado as opposed to Miami is like night and day in every way. The people are tremendously friendly. The economy is far better than FL. The cost of living is lower and the jobs pay a lot better. I'm not a nightclub person. I'm an outdoors kind of guy. My Kids absolutely loved Colorado when we visited. The looks on their faces when they saw a mountain for the first time was all I needed to see. They loved the space, and the atmosphere. So did I. Miami is not what people think. It's a pretty shitty place to live. Nice to visit. But not for life.

I didn't like the cold, I prefer warm.. but I'm looking for places that support local small businesses because I am starting a business plan and want to get any information that I can. Of all cities you've lived in, which do you like most?

Because of the prices there are homeless people in every corner in Colorado springs which is smaller than Denver. I can't imagine how many homeless people live in Denver

I live in georgia and never been hunting. Most georgians have run over more deer than your average hunter we have so many deer. I understand why they hunt but don't eat deer and dont like killing shit so thats out. Would love to live in colorado to get away from the heat but still have nic sunny days.

Just wondering about Colorado locals who complain about transplants and too many people moving in; so being a liberal open-minded state, how do you feel about immigration?
