heey!
welcome back!!
in this episode of documenting my life in montreal i touched up on a very sensitive (some people may find) topic on spending time alone & loneliness that comes with the fact of moving abroad.
i've shared how personally i have struggled with it and what i am working on. spoiler: many things are STILL in progress, haha.
please share if you have been going thru the same! since it's a common challenge around young folks who take such a leap of faith and move across the globe - it's crucial to share with others to help / support or be supported. 💓

Hi, I am also moving within the Toronto GTA. So, I could connect to your videos related to moving and after life. If you don't mind sharing details of the bed purchased, that would be great

heyy! thanks you! the bed is called FLEKKE, from Ikea. It extends to become a double bed from twin size. :)

Thanks for sharing Ana! Moving abroad is difficult I struggled with going places alone too at first and making friends. True it gets easier as time goes on and things feel familiar. Also amazing steak cooking technique 😍

I was going to move to Montreal before learning French, but a couple locals told me it will be hard to really merge your way into the culture and make friends without French. So I decided not to. Even tho it’s hard to learn push your self really try to learn as much as u can. It’ll help when meeting new people there!

it's all true! however my partner and I are quite introverted so even if we spoke French fluently - most likely we won't still be extra social butterflies, haha. we feel comfortable here as is :)

I would say it's totally doable to not learn French and make friends, especially here in Montreal. Whether you want to immerse yourself in French culture is entirely up to you. Learning French would make things easier but not necessary (unless you decide to live outside of Montreal)

@@hangryparanoyd merge into the culture and make makes. You can make friends with the people who only speak English. People who speak both don’t wanna translate for you Everytime yall go out. And without knowing French u can’t merge into a French culture.

Respect goes both ways and English is an official language in Canada, and is spoken by many in Montreal. If she tries and uses French a bit but is more comfortable using English what is the problem?

@@maestroCanuck Too bad for you . Canada is a bilingual federation where language is provincial matter. As such french is only official language of Quebec. Thk you to show your ignorance . In Rome do as Romans do. This is called respect

@@maestroCanuck thanks for saying that! starting to speak French isn’t easy at all, especially with native speakers, and it feels very awkward for me. sometimes you just don’t wanna stress yourself, however some people might take it as disrespect to the Montrealers :(

@@act_sion Your comment is not very respectful to me actually. I speak both French and English. Montreal is a city in a bilingual country. Perhaps you need to reflect a bit more on being accepting and respectful to others. It looks like you are unwilling to give people a chance, not everyone can speak a second language easily and if you can speak English and you are a kind hearted person you won't care whether someone speaks English or French to you. Thankfully most people in Montreal are kind hearted, at least that has been my experience in both official languages.
